It should get the job done. Atleast I did all my pipe brazing with a similar torgh and it got the job done. At first I didnt use big enough flame but after I turned both propane and oxygen up a notch the tubes got hot enough in few seconds. I brazed new dicharge line to my condenser also but it was done with proper oxy acetylene torch set. Damn how much I would like to have that torch! But it costs like 1000€ with both tanks so...

but the fu_ oxygen bottle is empty (after 15 minutes :rolleyes:)
will by a 10l bottle tomorrow :cool:
And a good regulator helps (gauges).

It contains:
-oxygen bottle 5liter 300bar
-oxygen regulator (X - 16 bar)
-propane bottle (270G job bottle)

-1-2mm head
-2-4mm head
and offcourse a standard :D
Today I ordered similar torgh set as Vincis. It cost me 20€ more than a MAPP gas system would so it was an easy decission:)

little O2 bottle i had before:
15 minutes with full flame, 15€ (about 18$ or something)
the O2 bottle from pic:
1 hour with full flame, 80€ (but you can refill it for 15€ :D )
I might get one of those oxy botles in some point:) But I think I'll have to manage with the originall botles for now...the spare oxy and propane costs 10€ a botle so I might get 2 oxybotles as a spare.
The Air/Acetlyene setups work just fine for these applications. No need to speen the extra money for down payment on a Oxy bottle too.
Just my last question here...
Do I need nitrogen for brazing ?
Normally you need it while brazing, but i never saw someone who used it. (like here: http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=714&s=9)
you dont need nitrogen but it used to stop xidation on the inside of the copper

These 200bar 10l bottles are expensive, I won´t buy another one for N2.
map gas torch suites me fine so far,
i have only used 1 and a bit bottles over a couple of months hours of stop start brazing of different systems.
i used this to heat the block up to temp took about 5mins and one min to braze block.
Only cost $29 top hot plate, and 9kg bottle + gas $60.
it actually got too hot, as i touched the block with the brazing rod it would flow over the hole side that i was brazing.
The smalest oxy botle so far is 5L and cost 200+€ used:( regulators cost about 60€ too...Rented botle for 3 years cost something like 170€+ refill. I Will have to search for better price somewhere. If I could find a 1L botle and regulators somewhere cheaper...

In Holland the price difference between a 5L and a 10L bottle is practicly nothing. sometimes a 10L bottle is even cheaper because they're more common.Quote:

This is the flux that I have
Its heavy duty silver brazing flux
Temperature range 550-850c and is called no 4a if that means anything
I want to use this when soldering steel flex hose to copper pipe using 45% silver solder.
The flux paste has to be mixed before it can be used.
How do I use this paste when brazing, can i use this paste for this application?
so when joining two pipes, you make a flare on one, then hold em together, then heat it up with the torch, then while still applying heat stick the braze rods to the joint and it should flow into the joint, sound right? im a nub to this stuff :D
You swag one pipe, when you want to join them. You flare a pipe, when you want to use a flaring nut, connecting a filter for example

Your second pic looks like a swagged pipe to me, you can stick another pipe with the same diameter into it.
