ouch! good luck!
Thats amazing, but i am also interested in alu evap...Would it be more efficient then copper with normal temps (about -50) ?
@chilly1 : u should have taken copper instead of aluminium
the thermal conductivity of aluminium is about 237 W/m-1/K-1 and the thermal conductivity of copper is about 401 W/m-1/K-1
nearly the twice ! .....with copper it should be easier to reach sub -150°C
i don´t know, how far u are with the project, but its just a tip from me....
THe first aluminum evap I built worked amazingly well But I cut the bottom too thin and when I shut the system down it looked like a coke can.. Remeber mass in in that equation also, and aluminumis way less massive for the same surface area, this is where I believe we may gain. But it is still up in the air the build starts in a week....
hmm....ok....thats right....CU has a relative atomic mass about three times higher then AL :D
hmmm.....but, when u r able to build an amazing, insane, horroble (:D) 3 stage-comp, then u r maybe able, to buy a little bit of massive CU and build the same evap with it, like u did already with the AL, too.....i don´t know, but maybe u r rich :D ;)
i would try it....:)
Was it hard for u to weld Alu ? Just waiting for results chilly1 :)
Naw I took it to a machine shop and it was Tigged for 25.00
This is going to be veeeeeeeeery interesting to see...
What CPU is going under chilly?
P4ee but there may be something in the pipe soon...
who exactly is the 4 stage intended for?
Actually it is a three stage cpu and a 2 stage gpu... -150 and -100 respectively... and a damn lotta work it is!
.....you have FIVE compressors ?!?! :slobber: :slobber:
AND YOU WILL BUILD A SEPERATED 2-Stage-build FOR GPU ONLY ?!?!

:toast:
:smileysex
:D ;)
just another questions :
- what for a videocard u have ?
- (will you buy a GF6800Ultra in the coming months? :D **you seem really to be rich :D** the results @ 2stage-GPU-Cooler on that beast would beat every score-record ! :))
- and will you think about my suggestion, that you should try an CU-Evap besides the existing AL-Evap ? :)
EDIT : again a question ! :D with which gas you will fill the 5 compressors ? :)
I have about 20 compressors of varying sizes in stock and a dozen or more on the way in. I repair refrigeration systems for stores and bars ect. The Al evap is an unknown the gpu will have a copper block..
oh, i see.....repairing refrigeration systems and building 3-stage-systems :D
and whats about my other questions ? :D
9800Xt 256meg probably either the ati or the nvida next..
I not really rich this is my job and the compressors come and go,, It's just stock for repairs I do... The cascade stuff is just a hobby. Same as the computers, damn stuff costs too much, sucks up all my spare cash, Faster Colder Colder Colder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and my last question...after that one i'll be quiet :D ;)
which gas will you fill into the compressors ? r404a ?
You are going to make test with AL and CU blocks ???
Can you show some pictures of the inside part of the blocks ???
You are going only to the -150C or you want to break the 5Ghz too ???
see ya
Fuggers old sig had th einsides of the blocks in it... I have a cascade with both. We ar going for all the GHZ we can get so we are also going for as low as possiable with a phase change to -200C....???
R507/R1150+R290/R50+R1150+R290 stage1/stage2/stage3Quote:

If you want going such extreme you will need the support from the mainboard manufacter.. like the guys @ thg with the 5ghz movie.. the whole mobo was modded to provide the cpu enough power, so I think they got some help from asus for modding the mobo...Quote:

that is true, http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/20031230/5ghz-08.html by what they say Asus made this changes for them, but even that with this cooling system and without modding the board he can get a huge overclock any way.Quote:

I picked up a P4C800 Deluxe mobo from Fry's unmodded and reached 4.9Ghz on my Prescott.

With droop mod, 5Ghz will be bagged.
After playing with different blocks, the aluminum block shocked us when we first did a few tests. I have high expectations for when we get it in operation at -150c
:lol:Quote:

I dont know what to believe about THG with their "5 ghz " project. Have you seen the condensation that encased that mobo?! I think they got to a 5 ghz screenie then everything died :p:
-150c may be to cold. seemed so to me.
2 words chilly.........expansion tanks!
