It sure does resemble badge hunting OC... you just substitute "votes" for "run time".Quote:
J-G, good work with the Q+A's, this has the same feel as badge hunting :D
With a bit of luck and perseverance, Kelly should end up with a > 10 K vote accumulation. :eleph:

JG - is it just the top 10% to get to the next round? And when was the last time that cut-off was updated?
Otis11, Yes, only the top 10% Local Hero vote getters will be allow to proceed to the panel judging phase of the contest where the 3 mobility adapted van contest winners will be selected. There are presently 1190 Local hero entries for the 2014 contest, they appear to select ~ 180 Local Hero vote getters per year to go on to phase two of the contest.Quote:

Not quite sure what exactly what you're asking in your question 2. The top 10% vote cut-off percentage required to proceed onwards to the panel judging phase of the contest has been there since the contest inception.

Kelly is now on track to accumulate a little over 10,000 votes. This should be sufficient to get her into phase 2 of the contest still. I have tried to find a vote listing of past Local Hero contests but I have been unable to. The information I have used has been collected from various Facebook discussion forums or Google searches. I have also used the limited contestant search tool on the Local Hero web site to gathered some contestants vote standing information and daily vote rate. A few top performers are on track to accumulate 30K to 40K votes. These are exceptional, Sam like vote getters. I estimate their numbers to be ~ 30. The next mid-range Local Hero vote getters appear to be on track to gather 8K to 15K votes. I estimate their number to be ~ 120. This leaves ~ 20 to 30 spots for the 15K to 30K group. Kelly Will be in the lower portion of the 8K to 15K group but she should still get into phase 2 of the contest.Quote:
You said earlier that she needed 8-10K votes to ensure top 10% when you looked at the numbers on the 15th. Is that still true or do we need to recalculate and adjust? I just want to make sure we are on target!
In summary Otis11, if we could get Kelly's vote total to > than 30K votes she would likely place in the top 15 finishers and be guaranteed a spot on phase 2 of the contest. At this late stage of the contest, this would require a daily vote rate of 1,666 votes.

PG,
I cannot logically explain why 150 to 300 of Kelly's supporters would suddenly abandon her as a lemming colony on a mid-week day. The impact of the local news story is certainly fading but I would envisage a much more gentler daily vote decline. It is likely time for Kelly's local supporters to get a reminder follow on story on their local news to remind local supporters to keep voting down the final stretch. Today's voting tally will be a very pertinent future trend indicator for Kelly's voting prognosis.
Thank you for your dedicated support. :)
Another vote!
