Yes, I ran both kits with mem test on different machines for 8 hours (while I slept today, heh) without error.
Do you have a recommended starting point?
I am now using 0901.
I have tried everything from XMP to manually setting up the memory pages. I tried voltages 1.5-1.65. I am not sure I should go any higher?
I got the system to run and install Windows on 4 modules/16GB without issue. But it is when I put the 8 in that I am.
Should I adjust the strap? If so. what should I set it to? Should I be more fine tuning the cpu settings or stick to changing specific items first?
Started testing a retail 3930K today, does 5Ghz np. Needs a little more voltage than the 3960X but that was expected. If running 5Ghz at 0.03v less is worth an extra $500 that is up to you lol. Have some reviews on the go so dont have time to freeze it quite yet, perhaps next weekend.

For 01 Debug messages (other than when oc memory too far) can also manually set 'ClockGen Filter' to DISABLED
no promises but you can try this bios

And set the Third timings as shown:

New chip came today. I havent tested any over clocking or stability on it, but the IMC seems better. No issues booting with memory at 2400mhz. Sensors look to be better, the temps read much more even.
Also trying a different kit of memory. Mushkin Redline/Ridgeback pc3-1700cl9 kit.

I have never had problems at 2400 with 4 Sticks or stability once booted with 4 sticks and 16gb. The problem for me arises at 2400mhz with 8 sticks and 32gb. Glade your problem has sorted its self out though.
Nice chip u got there bro. My 3960X loves voltage so much it needs 1.55v+ to get stable at 5GHz. :(
It's ok I think it's the dimm A1 went faulty. but nvm as I've just grabbed another RIVE. TQ
Populated dimm has been an issue since SB. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Can't wait to play with 8 sticks at rated speed/timings :)
I can get all 8 of my dimms running at the rated speed (2133MHz) with the rated timings. Since i lowered the RAM voltage to 1.6v everything has been fine.
What sticks you running Photek???
Two kits of G.Skill PC3-17000 RipjawsZ (model number: F3-17000CL9Q-16GBZH)
Now i've got it stable at 2154MHz on 1.61v with it's rated timings, but any higher and it BSOD's.
There's a new driver for rapid storage enterprise that solves several problems on asus support page..
Has anyone else had validation issues? Using the ROG edition but I can't validate my stuff.
The normal version works for me but not tried the ROG version. Can it be downloaded from the Asus site? Cant find it on there...
Edit: Found the ROG version, and it validates for me. Have you got the latest version? 1.59... you can get it here.
I downloaded it and installed it from CPUID.com - I can grab a capture but if I upload it it fails...

I'z has this board too :) So far everything being great apart from the PCH fan, that's one noisy son of a biatch!!!
Asus, do we really need a tiny annoying fan on this board???
For anyone curious, CPU batch number #3133B429
takes 1 minute to go into the bios and set pch fan to disable
you have strong hearing for sure
Thats weird... the fan on my board literally makes just about no noise, even sitting right next to the board now with the side off my case i cant hear the PCH fan at all. But you might be able to disable the fan in the BIOS though, it's only really there for people who highly overclock and increase the PCH voltage.
Sabertooth has two of those fans as far as I remember :D
I cant hear the fan at all myself. Set it to quiet mode in BIOS or disabling it totally is ok too.
Trust me, when you upgrade from a almost fairly slient air-cooled MacPro, this machine is a noise box!! Everything just rumbles. I'm wondering did I made the mistake of buying the Raven over the Fortress case with it's better noise prevention (so i hear)... I do love the fact them 180mm fans are near quiet and everything is accessible without crouching to my knees for the BIOS clear switch.
Im using the "auto" control for my RIVE. Ive set lower to 30°c et High to 70°c. The fan is very silent in normal use but can speed if needed.
