Just wondering if Intel will jump onto this with SB-E benchmarks on Anand in next few days..
Well that is a big problem, the longer amd leaves it the more chance there is that intel counter launches something better, that's why if amd had something good to go now they would launch!!
Even a paper launch of a product a month or two out would ruin amd's party.
Cores, MHz etc, none of it matters only £€$¥, I don't care if amd uses 1000 cores to beat one intel core as long as it is cheaper, that being said, am I the only one thinks they need to aim higher? Is being even with a 2600 what we expected with bd?
It is really relevant... since there are still plenty of tasks that don't even run on 4 core so in 8....
If BD is like 5% faster in multi-thread vs 2600k but loses 5% in single thread. That mean he will lose till 4 threads and that is just like 90% of the stuff the average joe does.
I really hope they surpass the 2600K clock per clock at stock... not average it... that would be such a disspapointment...
You do know 2600K has 8 threads ? And its substantially faster than the 2500k ?
On the second part. You really think average joe would notice 5% difference in his everyday tasks such as web viewing, gaming or playing solitaire ?
Youre average joe would not see the difference between athlon x4 and BD in his everyday tasks. This kind of CPU`s are targeted not at the average joes.Hell, even intel sales 6 core cpu`s now for 500$ a pop even tho theyre less efficient per thread than the newer ones.
Ya.It makes all the difference in the world
Guys, thinking...doesnt matter about number of cores or about clocks. If company A has 8 cores CPU at 6 GHz stock CPU (because this is architecture point) and still 125W TDP and company B has 4 cores at 3 GHz with the same TDP = doesnt matter at it.
Simplified its about ratio: die size/TDP/performance. Clocks and number of course is not important.
i am beginning to think terrance was right all along, BD wont show up until the end of 2011. they said q2 on their road maps...its the principal of the matter, i have been lied to. when they made statements that bd was in production.....that was a lie. this is also a big f*** you to their investors as well.
you may be building a system, but i wont be.
It's not a lie if their plan was originally to launch now and they discovered technical problems. As for production, you don't know how far into it they got. They could have meant risk production for samples which would be true.
lol, Intel lie us, they told, IB will be at end 4Q 2011 firstly, tahn Q1 2012 and now Q2 2012. WTF?!
Please, stop flames "Intel" fans! Real discussion to thema!
bigger die size? last time I checked, SB-E 6C/12T will have a ~300mm² die size, similar to zambezi (294mm²)..
it was expected that IB would start shipping in Q4/2011, not launching, you should read more carefully...
IB launch was pushed from january 2012 to march 2012 (late Q1, probably after cebit)
It's relevant if the 8 core version is only competitive when 8 threads are needed. If a 4 core app is used and the 2600k is far better, then a lot of gamers will go intel.
So it comes down to what you want the CPU for. If core for core there is a big enough difference, people with single threaded apps (or apps that use 4 threads), will stay with intels product.
If however the difference between the two is not so great, then the added bonus of 4 extra cores would swing it in AMDs favour.
suck!!! i wait him for a year!!!
i may buy AM3+ board and play with Sempron LE-145?
no, Q2. March is Q1 still :P End of OT. I noted only against and against atacks Intel fanboys here.
this is very true and why i think llano will be the main cash cow for amd in the next year. 4 cores is like the optimal amount for quite some time now. most games are still just 2-3, some even limited to a single thread
so when it comes to actually buying a BD, im going to pick up their quad core and try to unlock the other cores, since they are bonuses and not really needed in games. but clock speeds are still the main question. we can all assume 10-15% ipc increase over phenom, so i hope to see 5ghz being easy and 5.2ghz+ on water 24/7, otherwise it might just be time for SB
You need to stop posting this crap.
Do you really expect intel to put out 32nm sandy bridge and 22nm ivy bridge in the same year?
Intel has been spot on on there road maps.If anything the delay of ivy is because they moved to fast.
sandy E is about to come out in that 2011 socket and they will have a cheaper quad core sandy E for the people that just want that platform and want to wait for ivy to upgrade down the road.
Time will be difficult for AMD ...
Llano will be sold for cheap in order to gain marketshare (129$ for the A8 model) and BD will fight SB and IB, a really difficult rumble.
Maybe it's time for AMD's fanboyz to stop having ultra-high expectations all long, thus, they won't be disapointed anymore
Can we keep this thread clean please?Just once, pretty please?
Zambezi is not out yet, nobody knows how it performs(except maybe few selected people). We don't know the die size,we don't know clock speeds,we don't know OC potential. What we know is that it will be in stores,in best case, in 60 days. So if you guys find some useful links about price or performance, post them.If you want to rant about how SB-E/insert any other intel product here/ will outperform the unreleased Zambezi,go to intel section and create a thread called "SB-E,ruler of all CPUs".
Thank you.
Yes ,we are in the News section.Unless you have some news to link to,stop useless comparisons to yet unreleased CPUs(SB-E,IB etc.).
