DX9? 2002 called, it wants its game back...
Yes, DX9 came out in 2002. :D
c'mon. even though i agree about crytek stepping into shoes of other devs that turned their back on the pc community, i wouldn't say that crysis 2 looks crap just because it's dx9.
imo, crysis 2 looks great on hardcore: great lighting and post processing. especially AA is perfectly implemented. most games that use dx10 just use the dx10 render path for smoother shadows and the like. shadows in bc2 and crysis2 are on the same level, even though bc2 specifically uses dx10 for that. the only real thing dx11 brings to the table is tessellation - and crytek never said they'd implement tessellation in their cryengine3. so, what are the undescribable awesome uber features we're missing?
textures could be a bit more detailed and crispy, but that's not the fault of dx9.
Anyone else feel like they just gave us the finger after all the bull they been feeding us about how Crysis 2 is built from ground up for DX11 for months.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgizpmXDiXI <-- this sums it up just how much effort was put for PC players.
:chicken:
Given's how anything that's "patched" for higher DX?? always turns out to look like crap or added in last minute, its safe to assume zero difference in IQ from DX9 to DX11. Oh well time to cancel preorder, Crytek can go f themselves.
If I had a bag of dog crap handy i'd burn it on top of a cd with the crysis 2 demo burned to it.. and video it.
this is "DX9c" from 2004 I think :)
well, at least the devs are extracting quite good results from these 2005 hw consoles, and it's cheaper than ever to play on a PC (well, if your are not looking for the minor gains that can cost a lot)
the game will be limited by the consoles anyway, they will never do a lot of rework for the PC version, so this DX11 support will probably achieve very little anyway... the PC gamers will accept at the end and some will buy the game, and on the consoles they will sell a lot more than they could ever dream with a game like Crysis1 PC only,
and the game looks good, but obviously if you compare with the original Crysis and when it was released is quite depressing... and to make things worses it seems this generation of consoles will last longer than expected... so...
Direct quote / joke by Crytek when the pre-release build was leaked -
"Despite this unfortunate incident, we can assure you that PC gaming is very important to us and will always be important to Crytek in the future. We are all still focused on delivering a great gaming experience to our true and honest fans. I hope you will enjoy Crysis 2 on PC, as we think it is our best PC game yet!"
Also from CVG -
"Crytek: Crysis 2 'looks best on PC' Source
I only said I enjoyed the Crysis 2 leak as the gameplay was alright, and kept thinking as I was playing, 'mannn, this is gonna look awesome in DX11 with tessellation, just going by the comment Crytek made about the leak'. Obviously I thought wrong... lame... no expectations, no disappointments... I guess :-(
Indeed :-D --> http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=267015
Leaked Crysis2-beta Got 5k of downloads per day. Crysis2 now got all this "bad graphics topic all over internet", they want to sell this game as soon as posible to harvest money how much they can With not yet finished Crysis2 game.
It's months I insult crysis 2 and no one believed me.
We have to believe in games that still didn't make a bang in the past, because the others are going in this way:no decated servers, poor number of players (12!!!!) and outdated engines.
Having no weapons or anything else to complete for BC2 or other decent games.
Crossing my fingers for:
Homefront

Red Orchestra 2
Why not starting a petition?

Even though nones happy with the DX9 implementation, i don't know how many of the ones complaining will really not buy Crysis 2...
Cancelling my pre order ,:banana::banana::banana:ing :banana::banana::banana::banana:s one more to the no buy company list with Ubisoft and Activision
Your running out of options mate... :D
I Prefer quality over quantity
the graphics were pretty good but everyone including myself was looking for a game that could finally actually use their DX11 graphics card to their full potential
personally, the commotion is about how crytek said they still care about the PC gamer. That Crysis 2 would not be a port to the PC and what is the first official experience we get with Crysis 2? an extremely lazy port over from the xbox! thats personally what im most angry about.
they are now truely showing how they feel about the PC gaming community and it is not very good. The very same community who helped them to grow into the company they are today and Crytek basically spits on us.
i dont have much hope for the DX11 in the future because how many games who have implemented DX11 as an afterthought have shown really any visual improvement? its like filming in 3d, film in 3d from the get go and dont add it as an afterthought.
i really cant wait for this generation of consoles to die so hopefully developers and pc gamers will be on the same playing field for at least a little bit.
i personally blame a lot of this on Microsoft. they release a new DX set with all these great features and abilities when they very well know that their console is stuck in DX9 and almost every game company is only catering to the console at this point. release a new DX only when you release a new console. that way people will get less angry about having a video card with all these features that we cant use!
sorry for the rant, the way game publishers and developers have been treating the PC gaming community has really gotten on my nerves recently
Crysis came out 4 years ago.
I think you should go back to read the comments. Video looked decent at best. And most people hoped it was Xbox footage.
Besides, video is not quite the same as testing it by yourself on a 4MP screen.
While I agree that it should say "monitor", the vast majority of buyers of Crysis 2 will be console owners who play on TV's.
Heck, If it's mid-day and don't have to worry about pissing off the neighbors with noise, I will hook my PC up to either my 55" Samsung LED LCD with a big JBL studio series 5.1 surround setup (mirage 10" sub) or like this past week I decided 55" is too small to get "fully immersed" in the game, so here is my new Sony HD 3LED projector in action. It's a 120" image and looks fantastic in person even though it's just a matte white painted wall. A screen will make it look insane.
Edit: Picture taken from video i made with my iPhone 4.

Companies complain about piracy, well they are the only reason for it.
Who still wants to buy a game that is created for consoles and just patched a bit without any extras for the PC. If i want to buy a console game I'll buy myself a console.
the current generation of consoles really needs to die or we'll continue to have consoles ports for the next 2-3 years
