You have a very good 2500k there. I've only seen one other 2500k/2600k that hit 5GHz on less vcore. Until people can nail down just what a safe 24/7 voltage is for these Sandys, I'd play it a little conservative too. I think we will find out in time about 1.45v is ok for Sandys 24/7 on the right cooling, but for now a little caution won't hurt.
Agreed, hard to say what they will handle and what they wont at this point long term wise. These things sure are ALOT of cpu for the money though thats for sure.Quote:

Good 2500K batch is L041C124. 5Ghz on about 1,33-1,37V vCore. Mine does 4,5Ghz on 1,2V. I didn't try more because I have only BOX cooling.
My 2500k seems to do 4.5GHz @ 1.25v so it should be good but it has issues going past 4.6GHz ATM. I'll play with it a little more later. Batch is L049A796.
Thanks, and yeah bang for the buck is a understatement:up: I had a I5 750 before this and that chip needed 1.4V for 4ghz stable. Definitly glad I made the switch even with the mobo problems....really shouldnt effect my setup as im only on the sata6 ports.Quote:

Did you installed Intel RST(rapid storage tech.) driver on HDD and then plugged the SSD?
I know someone who had this problem until he installed the latest RST driver which is not on drivers cd...
You have to enable the marvell controller to be bootable in the UEFI setup first. I'm guessing those are the ports you are connected to and not the P67s SATA3 ports?Quote:

The Realtek ALC892 on the Extreme4/6 does not support Dolby DTS. Instead it's taken door no:2 and supports THX TruStudio PRO with "Premium Blu-ray audio support". As far as I am aware the only difference between boards using the ALC892 to support DTS or THX is just on the software level, so its more than probable that somebody could take a manufacturers ALC892 driver supporting THX, and another manufacturers driver using ALC892 supporting DTS and combine both drivers to have both THX and DTS features. This is something I myself might look into doing even though I have a Xonar 7.1, but no promises.
Alright, a lot of people don't seem to fully know just what "safe" voltages are to use on P67 and Sandy Bridge when overclocking. So I have researched this referencing Intels own documents and applying typical +5% / +10% tolerences appropriately. The end result is the following table which by no means am I guaranteeing to be 100% accurate, but it should be very close.
DRAM Voltage:
[Intel Spec. Range: 1.5v - 1.58v]
Typical +10% electrical tolerence = 1.65v MAX Safe
PCH Voltage:
[Intel Spec. Range: Unknown]
Nominal Voltage: 1.059v
Typical +10% electrical tolerence = 1.16v
CPU PLL Voltage (VCCPL):
[Intel Spec. Range: 1.7v - 1.9v]
+5% electrical tolerence = 1.92v MAX safe
(no known prolonged tests) +10% tolerence = 2.01v MAX
VTT Voltage (VCCIO):
[Intel Spec. Range: 1.05v]
+5% electrical tolerence = 1.1v MAX safe
(no known prolonged tests) +10% tolerence = 1.15v MAX
VCCSA Voltage:
[Intel Spec. Range: 0.88v - 0.97v]
+10% electrical tolerence = (0.88) 0.97v = Do not exceed 1.016v!

Notes;
Load Line Calibration (LLC): It would seem LLC works in a slightly bizarre way on Sandy Bridge, causing 0x101 BSODs if it's potency is too high. To remedy this simply set a more relaxed LLC option. I recommend setting a mid-level LLC setting.

One more thing. The direct PCI-e lines to the CPU - are they shared with something else on these boards? For instance UD7 doesn't shares them with anything, strictly for PCI-e slots (graphics). Asus MIVE shares them with Marvell and the two USB3 controllers. Asus WS Revolution shares them with one USB3 controller.
AFAIK The Extreme4/6 doesn't share the PCI-E lanes on the CPU, they are strictly for graphics. If memory serves me right the PCH has 4 PCI-E lanes of its own for onboard devices, and in the case of the Extreme6 it also has the nvidia chip which adds 4 more PCI-E lanes for triple SLI setups. The downside to that though is added latency. You would probably be better served by getting the Extreme4 (16+4 PCI-E lanes AFAIK) and using the 3rd PCI-E slot for a good PhysX card like a GTS450. Rather than a Extreme6 (16+8 PCI-E lanes AFAIK) and adding all that extra added latency and heat the nvidia chip throws in.
Again, all that is if I'm remembering the configuration correctly of the PCH. Otherwise its only the nvidia chip that adds 4 extra PCI-E lanes, which are still equally useless because of the added heat and latency I already mentioned.
As for getting acceptable audio quality out of those crap Realtek chips (and ALL Realtek chips are crap for anyone that tries to say theirs isn't) you can actually get very good audio quality by customising the Equalizer, either through the Realtek CP or through the Windows EQ. It really is worth doing if stuck with a Realtek chip, it'll turn muddy, "blurred" audio into something thats really quite crisp with adequate Bass. Depending on your speakers for the latter.
Just found P67 Extreme6 block diagram. No NV chip, just a switch for the PCI-e x4/x2 and x1 slots. Looks good to me for 2 cards SLI/Crossfire:
