x36v32x? whats the point?
Yea i know about 8.8ghz, i really wish i had a cpu with a nice IMC that would let me do over 230. Like a xeon or a nice 920 or a 980x would be perfect. lol. I see now.
How can I know if my sata 3 firmware have been updated? I didn't see any thing related to marvel after I update to new bios.
Also when I try to open Raid Sata 3 Configuration, nothing open, it just reflash the screen bios.
I don't have any drive connected to sata 3 ports though.
Edit: I update the sata3 firmware by changing "Sata3 Firmware Selection" to Force instead of Auto and after saving and exit, it showed a screen updating sata3 firmware.
it should work on auto, the first time you boot up it should automatically do it. But yea i was going to say force would also do it, instead of auto or onchip. Do you have a c300? b/c I do and after updating firmware i dont get better results, but I am using msahci drivers not marvell. Marvell drivers are looking so very tempting.
I just realised that guys write speed is 6mb/s how is that good for 4k? is that a joke?
4.65Ghz on above dew point water - Xeon W3680 Batch# 3013A739
My goal was to reach 100GFlops.

very nice GFlops dr_dx!
Can I ask what if you change CPU PLL to default 1.800v? do you get instability?
GFlops is an combination of CPU and memory throughput. At a given cpu setting, raising the GFlops by tweaking the RAM will increase the overall performance of the pc (as long as it remains stable).
I don't have any proof, but it would seem any thing that is memory intensive would benefit from it performing faster.
I have seen pc's that had a higher Ghz with loose memory out-performed (benchmarks, etc.) by a pc that had a lower Ghz with tight memory.
you are welcome, but you should also note that the new bios for the x58a series have marvell firmware updates, so you should do that too if you have one of these boards.
Here are a couple of pics that show what I am talking about. You will see that the 4.6 setup outperforms the 4.65 setup. It finishes Linx 14 seconds faster for the same problem and memory size, even though it has a slower proc speed. Because it has a higher GFlop throughput, it performs better - at least in Linx - but it would proportional to the amount of memory used in the app/benchmark.

looks good
Just got me a X58A-UD5 rev2, seems to be ok. I have a problem though, can't seem to get Speedstep to work in this board. I've tried virtually all combos in CPU features without any success. In my MSI X58M it was no problem to have a sound OC in combo with working Speedstep.
Any ideas?
never tried. On default it has it disabled on my board. so EIST doesnt work? are you sure?
Yup, definately sure. No EIST. I've tried all combos, it just wont shift down. The temps confirms it as well.:shakes:
EDIT: I have now tried everything, both using multiplier and BCLK to OC. Enabling/disabling Turbo, hyperthreading, all kinda C states, Load line...still no EIST. If all on default EIST works, even with Turbo on. Only one multiplier or one MHZ on BCLK, bye bye EIST. This board sucks whales balls if this is going to be the case.
The board overclocks the same as my MSI X58M, even worse on BCLK. The GA board is 2x costly and gets beaten by this? Is it anyone here that uses EIST, just to confirm?
Otherwise it will be sent back, I don't accept this on a board with that price tag.:shakes:
Try fully clearing the CMOS for 20 minutes or so, with the PSU unplugged from the wall and press and hold the case power button for a bit before you clear the CMOS.
If that does not work, reflash the latest BIOS using Qflash and be sure you disable Keep DMI Data before you flash. Then after you flash go in and load optimized defaults and save/apply/reboot F10 Back to the BIOS.
Once in the BIOS again set your SATA/Disk settings to what you need, your ram voltages, and anything else you need to set.
Then be sure you have C1E and EIST enabled (Disabled if you need off) and go into windows, if it is still not working go into control panel/power options, and select once of the power saving options for enabling or high performance for disable.
Then go into the advanced settings for the plan, and choose the Min/Max CPU % States that you want used.
If none of that helps there may be something wrong with your board, and you may need to RMA if you need speedstep and it is not working, but it's definitely not normal of the board/model for it to not work either way
I have upgraded my GA-X58A-UD5 MB BIOS to GA-X58A-UD5 (2.x)-FC2. W7 64-bit was installed prior to the update of the BIOS, now when I check my Windows Experience index and re-run the assessment I get 5.9 and not the 7.9 score I had before the update! To update the BIOS to the new version i used Q-Flash, I do see that the BIOS was updated the version FC2 when booting my system.
Now, since the PC is brand new and only has the system W7 installed I dont mind reinstalling W7! If i do reinstall W7, do I;
Step one make sure in BIOS that Sata 6/7 or enabled
Step 2 change IDE to AHCI
Step 3 install W7
Step 4 install MB drivers from CD (Gigabyte)
Step 5 install Marvell Mangi Console
Step 6 update W7 via windows update
One more thing, when I look in Device Manager in the Storage Controllers I only have Gigabyte GBB36X Controller, i dont see the MArvell 9xx anywhere? Is this normal or do I have to manually DL and install this driver? I did see that after I updated my BIOS that the SATA 3 firmware was updated to the lates drivers.
Thanks
