Congrats on winning the board Anarki :up:
What PSU are you planning on using? I was looking at that single rail Corsair 650 (the yellow one I think). Should be anough juice for it and possible a 240 / 460 shouldn't it? Scan have it listed for £60.00 but it's out of stock and OcUK have it in but for £80.00 :(
:up:
I thought the shipping wasn't soo bad... I just looked at like; I want it, I buy it :p:
Then again I have had other things of similar value shipped from Japan for much cheaper. And on my doorstep in two days :eek: yeah work that one out :confused::rolleyes::D
Could any Americans, thread enthusiasts or anybody that likes a good screw please lend me their brains?
What, if any, are the differences between 6-32 and #6 screws?
Well, I'd like to jump in the CPU/RAM buy but don't have a board yet. Currently reading up on Quad Socket Motherboards......
They are be the same. #6 like #8,10,ect are all standard. Similar to M3, M4 and so forth. I just bought a boatload of screws for my case on an SR-2 build and all the machine screws I bought are a standardized thread counts.
I do have a question though. What are your PPD on some of these set-ups. I am intresed in building one.
Looking at Vapor's chart here it's around 15.2 wcg points per mhz.
So if you get some 1.8 Barcas like Jacka you could expect something in the region of 27K points. (1800 * 15.2)
If you manage to get some 2.3 ghz, like me and Anarki, it'll be around the same as a I7 clocked to 3.95 (2300 * 15.2 = 34960, 3950 * 8.8 = 34760)
Hope that's clear :)
Finally got some chips ordered, 4x8354s for $200. Not the best price but I needed to jump on it when I had the money to spare. And a 750Watt Corsair and two molex-8pin EPS adapters. Think thats everything. Up by next week! /crosses fingers
I just received my cpu's. now all I need is ram and I can set this baby up for the fall =)
Question: how much 8350s are worth? Normal thing, pulled out and 100% working. No heatsinks.
Depends really. The prices on these opti's are really erratic these days.
Here's what MrMojoz found a page or two back;
A quick look on ebay for 8350's;
$65.00 free shipping
http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Third-Genera...item4151ffb6ba
$80.00 $7.00 shipping
http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Opteron-8350...item2a087a69c8
But just look at this search for some really ridiculous prices

OK, thanks. The bidding is on. We'll see how it will end (it's not on ebay but local bidding service in my country).
Good luck mate, hope you get a good deal :up:
€250.00 each? :shocked: Damn those 8358's are expensive...
I bought my 8356's for $50.00 each. I don't think the bump from 2.3ghz to 2.5ghz is worth ~€200.00 a pop if you ask me. Cheaper to buy a gulftown ;)
Heat sinks have been ordered btw.
:up:
You've got pm Jacka
8 x 8356's :cool:

Nice CPUs !!! /drool
One of those quad socket arima boards. Check out the links in my sig. Four are for me the other four are for Anarki.
Anarki and Kryja:
The rep at Scan is really starting to take the piss now. I send him an email early this morning and just got home to see no reply. Not sure what to do.
It's depressing seeing £500 worth of gear sat doing nothing. :(
