What an epic fail, Leeghoofd.
:p:
Yeah, me slaps myself :wierd: I overlooked it ( only a four letter word counts for me now : N O O B ) but I won't say sorry to Dino (not in public anyway) :p as Foster's beer s u c k ssssss
Let's hope the retail rocks here toooooooooo
there is a secret setting in the bios that allows you to unlock CPU power, its advertised on the box :P
lol... Leeghoofd's brain set on slow mode :P
It was 255 bclk qpi slow mode and 248 bclk when qpi set to x36. I was able to get around 249 but wasn't very stable. All of that was done on dry ice, I think ln2 would be better still. I wanted to see what I was able to achieve 2d wise without resorting to slow mode...
I am waiting to buy a dewar so I can do some half decent benching with a GFX card. dinos22 is playing hard to get and wont sell me jack :P - then again, being banned from OCAU means I cannot read his reply to my question that was typed in great sarcasm.
:rofl::rofl:
i got nothing to sell...only one dewar here dude :p:
200 - secret option for what? Higher Vcore? Where?
Which PCIe freq you have with 240+ MHz? Its good for Bloomfield ..
So far I dont see super power on this board. Everything the same like on UD7 setup, I cannot reach stable 4200MHz on cpu, and ofc I cannot run 2000MHz on mem with the same voltage like I have set on UD7. Bios rev wich I use is F3, maybe this is problem ?
I need more list of Compatible XL-ATX Cases (more than pdf file in gigabyte website)
Hey dinos, ive troubleshooted this problem even rocked one of the sales reps at scorptec, bet i made him feel like a :banana::banana::banana: ha, Basically the problem occurs when your using a g19 or any sort of usb keyboard with a razor mouse, 2 ways to fix this is.. unplug both keyboard n mouse till it boots into windows or flash to a newer bios, I used F7B to fix the issue.. im sure FR and later should of fixed it?! ;)
Here is a quick 3dmark06 CPU test. 246 base clocks, QPI x 36, Uncore around x20 I think...
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6.../3dm06dice.jpg
Also with that test bios, I am unable to load windows after I flashed to it. However, F4B bios fixed my flashing keyboard in the M.I.T page.
Edit, test bios worked, but out of dry ice...
wow 246 '06 nice
did anyone using UD9 and previously use UD7
did you notice any different in term of overclocking?
I have a UD9 and a 980X, I have been insulating and spray coating the board etc for a phase change setup, I just put dielectric grease in the socket and installed the 980X, and decided to boot up on air cooling first to make sure everything is OK.
It boots and I can get into BIOS, and I can navigate around the BIOS, except when I try and enter the Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker page (with all the overclocking stuff), it locks up and I can't choose any of the options, have to reset.
I haven't tried just booting from a HDD yet, just got bare essentials connected.
Does this mean I have damaged some of the pins on the mobo during installation? The mobo has F1 BIOS. Anyone else get this problem?
try flashing to the latest F4b bios first
also use some crappy old PS2 keyboard if you can to check (older bioses had some issues with certain keyboards
Ah yes just saw the changelog for the newer bioses which fix it thanks for that. Phew good to know the HW isn't fooked
u should always check new hardware before you go nuts insulating
nothing worse than discovering its stuffed up after you do all the work lol
Im using UD7 for in daily rig, and for some ocing action. Now I try UD9, and for daily running for me better is UD7 ( i set the same voltage, freq whait I have on daily rig to UD9 and this combination wont go ), but for sub zero action better is UD9.
With UD9 I can clock little bit more 980X, ud9 have more stable voltage than UD7, but is mouch warm than 7.
Nope, QPI = x36
Glad to see some others finally noticing this issue! I have been aware of it since Gigabyte's first X58 boards and the issue is still not corrected.
I have been told that HiCookie is now working on fixing this with the BIOS guys, so hopefully it will work soon now that he is on it!
The issue is the current QPI Slow mode setting they have programmed is way off what it should be, causing the boards to not be able to boot at that speed and default QPI speed loads instead.
Current QPI Slow Mode:
0.5 x Stock Bclk 133 = 67Mhz
Correct QPI Slow Mode Should be
x24 x Stock Bclk = 3.2Ghz (1.6Ghz Real)
(x24 is GBT BIOS Terms, x12 actual - Same applies with 3.2Ghz GBT BIOS terminology only - 1.6Ghz would be what you should see in CPU-z FSB/NB Section)
GBT BIOS Current QPI options:
Slow Mode x0.5 / 36 / 44 / 48
Other boards with alternate QPI multiplier terms - or Non GBT terminology, and working QPI Slow mode use:
Slow Mode x12 (Again 24 @ GBT) / 18 / 22 / 24
QPI Slow mode is detrimental to 3D benchmarking for sure, but for 2D or high Bclk desires, things will be greatly improved for Gigabyte users once this is corrected!
Hopefully HiCookie and the BIOS team can get this fixed soon!!
Bios : 20.07.10

Anyone know what's new with F4E?
dam i just orderd the board from newegg... do I need to worry about a revision of the board? I plan to watercool so maybe I should hold off until this is fully fixed?
there are no revisions as far as i know
Hondacity PMd me yesterday saying that newegg is doing bundles with UD9 and the board works out at $480 now he says if you get the 980X chip with it
niceQuote:
980x + ud9 = 1479
ud9 is like 480$ now
thats a newegg combo price
