thanks again DA, the CPU time setting did the trick.
Had a good read through that thread. thx.
Well folks, it's almost that time again!
Stats for the day close in about 30 minutes, so if you want to squeeze any more in you better go manually update all your machines now!
to what version of boinc should i update then :P?
BTW My athlon machine is :banana::banana::banana:ed up right now need some new thermal paste but there isnt anny in home so tomorow im going to get some @ a friend
Il keep you guys updated :)
I have to tell you guys. I really wish I had invested in quieter fans for my computer. 24/7 operation is not conducive to good sleep patterns when your computer is in your room.
Dave I think you should start a livestream everynight when the results post :p::p::p:
Oh that was your HEAD! I couldn't tell through the glare.
<am constantly in trouble for molting on the lounge>
I suspect I'll never have to worry about a sunburnt head, not with my genetics. Confused with a lycanthrope perhaps, but not with a sunburnt head.
Dang it anyway the new i7 860 arrived in time but in my haste to go to work I forgot to shut off power saving features in Win7 so I've lost 24 hrs work :(
So I've setup my old E7400 in my den to help makeup some points. But have no monitor or keyboard. Is there anyway that I can login to the remote machine(winxp32) from my primary Win7 machine? I've seen mention of BOINCview, but can't get it to work and others have mentioned not to use it. All I want to do is check the machine to make sure it working properly.
Thanks
John
just remote desktop??
Could just ping the machine from another on your network. That'll at least tell you it's on. Otherwise, you need to make sure you've set an account password. There's a security setting on WinXP that prevents remote access as long as there aren't any passwords on the system.
any updates? how many flops speed XS teams are crunching at?
just checked the points.. we generated 14,204,273 yesterday and we are at second place.
I just realised my Hex core system is still on a 7 RC1 instlal, so it's been rebooting every 2 hours.. into the wrong OS, i thought it was unstable despite passing prime for 3 hrs at 4ghz! :shakes:
So it'll be offline a few hours while I install retail copy. quick QUESTIOn tho.
Is there a way to migrate it to the same machine in my profile? or will I need to create another one, and delete the old one?
When you install a new operating system, WCG considers it to me a new computer and you will get a new device ID when you install BOINC, that is, unless your computer has a specific name like "Sam", for example. If the computer has no specific ID, then you will be given one that's a combination of numbers and letters. Not sure if that answers your question.
Thanks sierra, If I give the pc the same name it might carry on.
Cheers
It's worth a try. I've never done it before. I have some machines that I never bothered to name, so I ended up getting a device name like WIN-KD7V94YBF82. To me, it's no big deal. If I install a new OS, I will get another name that's similar. The points total for that machine will start from zero which again is no big deal to me.
I did name one machine after my wife, another using my cat's name.:D
Yep...soo my 980x just bit the dust? WTF!!! Was running it 1.35vcore 1.2VTT @ 4.3ghz for a week...the voltage was well within intels specs. :(
