1,499 total members. Who wants to be #1,500?:)
I DO!! oh wait...
I actually dropped my overclock (obviously lowered volts too) to 4GHz for the WCG challenge. Not sure what 24/7 full load will do to my NB/VRMs.
WCG probably won't notice 100MHz either way.
1,500 members now. Welcome, Shinzok.:)
Now 1,501. Welcome, hmeco.:)
Also welcome to frogeye, disturbed13 and Fitseries3.:)
I love to see that we are the third biggest point producing team but just being the 20th biggest team in number of member.
Hi from me.
I was join b4 long time but i was stop crunching.
Today i hope start again .
Agreed and God's truth is the last thing I want to see is anyone losing hardware while just trying to help us out.
My suggestion is back it off a bit till your happy with the temps no matter what that speed decrease is. Every machien is different and only you know what is "right" for you.
Hi, I've joined with a Quad and a Dual Core. :)
Thought I'd say "hi" in here.
Randomly signed up to discuss cooling my 4870 VRMs (and never got around to it either :P) and got the email the other day about this.
Gave it some thought and decided that it'd be a good excuse to up my E7500 to 4ghz (from 3.6, more than I need for gaming. This was the first time I actually ran a 9.5 hour prime test too, just to make sure my results would be correct) and start crunching. I mean, being unemployed right now I can't really give any money to charity, but I can do this! :)
I'm also planning to install WCG on our media centre (runs some RANDOM OEM only AMD quad at 1.8ghz -- still a quad though!) and run it 24/7 throughout the week. Considering the media centre gets left on often (forgetful parents), it may as well be doing something while sitting there all night ;)
I'm also thinking about installing it our a C2D laptop we have (1.6ghz) for the week too. Also trying to rope my brother in for the week too, who has a Q6600 at stock (not sure about that one though).
I've tried distributed computing before, but the WCG app is great to use, and it's fantastic being in such a top tier team with this stuff (really quite inspiring).
"The project was launched on May 12, 2008. While it was active, World Community Grid members processed over 29 million results which required nearly 26,000 years of computing power. This work would have taken about 200 years of time using the computing resources available to the researchers at the University of Washington. Using World Community Grid, this research was completed in less than two years. "
When reading that I think, how can I NOT leave my PC on 24/7 crunching? :O
Edit: I was also overjoyed to see how many people have joined too. 250 and counting? Awesome!
Thanks for joining.:) Now 1,506 total members - 272 new members in past week.
Also, welcome to fl0w3n, Timoes and envoid.
