G.Skill ECO PC3-12800 7-8-7 1.35v in the house!

Lower voltage = Lower stress on MC- Lower stress on MC = higher overclocks. :up:

It may seem useless to some, but useful to those that understand how it could benefit. PSUs are getting way over 1000W+, but really? If we kept going in the same direction, and the average person eventually had a 1000W PSU, that could severely effect our future. Luckily Intel and many other manufacturers are heading towards energy efficient hardware, so I commend them for their efforts as it is simply the responsible and smart thing to do.

The ECO Series are good overclocking modules. There should be posts about them everywhere about their capabilities.

So what's the consensus on these, are they decent OC'rs for 2x 2GB PC3-12800 parts?
Also if you under-clock them below stock, can you get tighter timings, & can they run on even less voltage?

I mostly want to run at stock or under-clock w/tighter timings....
But on the rare occasion that I game, a decent OC (not hard-core) would be nice too!

Not sure I'd have quite as much luck as others with a GA-H57M-USB3 though :(
I believe the memory controller on the Clarkdale's (I'm getting Core i3-530) reverts back to the Core micro-architecture.
And of course a lot depends on the board and it's BIOS....

Any thoughts/advice on this or other g.skill RAM greatly appreciated!

Well... 6-7-6 is a possibility. *maybe* 6-6-6 if the MHz are reduced, but I dont think the voltage can be too. tRCD isnt the strong point of BBSE ICs

reduced voltage generally.... I made a fairly silly attempt at 666MHz 9-9-9 at <1.0v and didnt get a POST :p:

The ICs might bottom out around 1.25-1.30v? Its not a linear path down to 0v. Theres a minimum voltage for ICs to work at all

If you are going to run the mem @ stock then yes this is a great kit to buy due to the power and heat savings. If you want mem for benching or top end OC you should go with a Ripjaws or Trident kit.

24/7 I'm using A-Data 2000 XPG-X CL9, this kit can do easy 2200 at 8-9 (10 )-8-24-88-1T at 1.66v, now my friend give me G.Skill ECO kit and ... not bad, but not good like A-Data ; 2100 8-9-8-24-88 must have 1.66v for 32M Super PI. Testing with bclk at 210.

The Eco sounds better though...
200Mhz OC for A-Data Vs 500Mhz for ECO, or am I missing something?

I personally don't care about super awesome OC abilities, as that's not what this range is for.
For that you get Trident, Ripjaw etc...

What voltage does the A-Data use at stock Vs the Eco's 1.35v?

You mean RJ, TD, & PI, what's the diff. between those three?
I know they're more performance oriented than the Eco, but how are they different to each other?

Eco still OC's okay right, just not suited for top-end OC's?
Are the Eco's the best for under-clock/volts + lowered timings, or can the RJ/PI/TD also scale well in that regard?

Theres realistically not much in it. Any difference in OC performance is usually hand-in-hand with the binning point of the particular kit. 800MHz.... 1GHz....

Theres nothing wrong with buying a set of ECO. They look great and perform... pretty well.

Again... the difference is in the binning point. 800MHz is fairly easy for DDR3/ I7/I5, so I suspect most kits can at least come close to the ECOs timing sets... but YMMV

Just buy something ya like ;) Its hard to buy bad RAM from good companies at the moment.

Dont know at 1.35volt, but at 1.65v my kit runs 5-7-5-19 at 1600mhz, stable.
Just remember to set all subtimings!

i think my eco stable at voltage 1,67v
when i give more voltage and cant post.. my eco use elpida chip on memory..
i think that maybe character this memory..

and on 700Mhz i get CL6 for sure..

I have 8GB (4 x 2GB) of this RAM
Currently I have it running at 800MHz, 6-8-6-18 1T @ 1.56V

Using it with:
Asus M4A79XTD EVO with BIOS v2001
Phenom II 965 C3 stepping
