Basically. #1 would be the highest pressure, but lowest flow. #4 would be highest flow, but lowest pressure. Then there are injector positions and core size to consider, etc. It is all about matching exactly the right plate to suit your loop.

thanks faster. Do you know what kind of benefit can one expect to see out of changing the plates? Any past experience with similar setups?
Also, I think increasing pressure alone doesn't buy you anything in a heat exchanger though. I guess you trade flow rate in your loop for increased velocity (from the increased pressure) on the impingement surface/heat exchanger surface? Does this sound right? This sounds like fun... I want one.
Vapor's going to love doing this one :D.
if i remember right Cather did some tests with flow vs pressure and im pretty sure that pressure wins most (so long as u stay over a certain GPM) of the time because of the velocity and the turbulence created

So any internals update pics with a EK supreme side by side? or do we have to wait for the release the good money shots? Either way nice work EK
Dragon
you having some test?
Looks like it's available now, fyi

http://www.ekwaterblocks.com/shop/ek...hf-acetal.html
It became available recently since it was not this morning.
It sais "AVAILABLE FROM 15TH OF DECEMBER 2009!"
Guess you can preorder now. Either way, block was not listed on the EK's website this morning.
What I am wondering (and there were also rumors) that the highflow inside plates would appear for old supreme, and now, I'm pretty stunned with whole new block...
Are those plates backwards compatible with supreme, and will they be sold separately?
Today is the 15 of december, hope you EK guys are ready to ship out this new HF block, really excited about this new design,im sure it will deliver.
Preordering is killing me..lol..aaaw the wait...
cheers
UV reactive Yellow to match Dfi boards would be awesome. A green version would be sweet as well.
So Eddy, what have u observed for temp drops with this block VS the EK Supreme? Also can we get some close up internals shots with the EK supreme next to it plx, just wondering how dramatic the re-design was for 100% more flow, thanks

no more (optical) secrets :D

Wow! scamps lucky:)
any compare?
I gotta ask this...
Seeing those last 3 shots, I'm really curious as to the dips/dimples in the base plate between the fins. The thickness has negligible difference, are those there for turbulence or just a consequence of the machining process?
+1
but i have no idea how he managed it ...
just to give you an idea of itīs performance - only 1 mount against Heatkiller 3.0, stock plate, horizontal mounting. Wonīt make a complete testing, but I guess he is on par with the heatkiller with the right plate (whichever the right one is)

Skinneeeee, Shaaaaaane, Bundyyyyyy - test it the right way!
€dit: I have to mention - the mounting was a little bit modified

Exactly correct and the look is purely by accident. The blade that cuts the slots is curved, naturally, and instead of slicing each line in one cut, which would heat the copper needlessly and cause changes due to the heating (thickness changes in the raised/uncut portions), instead the block's plate moves slightly forward and the blade drops straight downward to make small, incremental cuts.
This can be easily seen in the largest pic of the plate, or the last pic, by the fact that each "hit" of the cutting blade left a very small curved indentation.....look at the shadows left by the light on the block's grooves. The places the blade hit is slightly curved and the shadows caused by the light hitting the various cutting marks changes depending upon where they are in relation to the light's hitting them.
Argh, the only thing I don't like are the 2 logos, one is good as it's the right way up but that means the other is upside down! It really annoys me.
Mmmmm all versions come with backplate? I hope not because for anybody that already has a cpu-block you could presume most would have backplates...
omfg
i want this NAOW.
just got my XT and everything.
some more results ... same stuff as Heatkiller
