Hi guys I have a big problem with my UDP4 AM3 board which arrived this morning (along with a Phenom x2 550 and 4GB of DDR3)
Now I got it all setup and running fine with Windows 7 x64. I flashed the BIOS to the latest version F4G, rebooted, the system started up fine and I went into the new BIOS straight away and changed the ACC mode to hybrid. Then set all cores to -2%. Quit out of the BIOS and saved. It warned me not to turn off the power whilst it was writing to the BIOS.
As soon as I exited the BIOS, the system powered off. Now it refuses to power on and boot up!
I have tried reseating the RAM, etc, but it doesn't respond to me pushing the power button, or even if I use a screwdriver to short the power-on pins.
Have I killed it? Or am I missing something obvious?

Unplug PSU and then Clear CMOS. use srewdriver to touch two pin together next to CMOS BAT. Then plug in and FLASH to F5A.
F4 did the same thing when i first loaded it. So i just went to F5a.
Note:
Load sytem defaults right after you Flash.. then always set the ram and your Extra Hardware. Drives. then enable the Hybrid Mode.

My board is the XT version and uses DDR3 RAM, can I use the F5A BIOS from the X version which uses DDR2 RAM?
I doubt I can :confused:
Searched on google it seems gigabyte haven't yet released the F5 bios for the 790XT :(
Guess that means I'll have to see what I can get 2 cores up to for now.

After you flash load defaults then set up all your devices or AHCI if you use that. Then Turn on Hybrid Mode and Auto ACC.
Im pretty shure F4g has the Hybrid option. Its also newer updated CPU code.

This MA790XT-UD4P board is pretty buggy, I cant adjust the NB VID because it keeps reverting back to 1.1V. Any value I set in the BIOS gets ignored upon post, when I get into windows and use AOD, I set the NB VID slider tab to anything and as I soon as I hit apply, it reverts back to 1.1V.
The memory divider seems borked as I'm trying to get a 266MHz FSB and a 1:3 FSB/RAM divider but that doesn't work. It keeps going 3:10.
AOD can't detect the CPU voltage and NB voltage correctly - I have them set as 1.40V and 1.30V respectivly via the BIOS and AOD sees them at their stock volts.
I cannot get Hybrid mode to work as the motherboard has a fit and hard locks everytime. I have tried the F4 bios and the F4G bios and both give the same results.

When you set the NBvid it will always read 1.1 in AOD and Everest.
If you set +.200 on NBvid it is really 1.3vid even though AOD dosnt register it.
When you enable Hybrid mode try +2 or +4 All cores with default volts CPU auto and NB auto and DDR# to waht its Volts are suppose to be at the correct divider , what happens?
With all settings default/auto I turn on hybrid mode, all cores (I've tried +0, +2, +4, -2) I quit and save out the BIOS, my PC reboots and the fans spin up for about 3 seconds then switches off.
I then can't boot up unless I unplug the PSU and reset the CMOS.

What settings does it take to run DDR3 1600mhz on this board? I can't even get it prime-stable @ 1600mhz CAS=11 (!!!) with anything between 1.6 and 1.95 volts. My RAM is new, rated at 1600mhz 7-7-6-18. The best I've been able to get prime stable is 1333mhz 7-7-7-24 (any timings lower that also fail). Could it be the board, or do I need to give mushkin a disappointed phone call? (if you don't want to clutter the thread, PMs work fine too).
Unfortunately, I don't have any other DDR3 sticks or DDR3 motherboards to test each component with.
On the bright side, this board will get me 3.7ghz and 2400 NB no problem on an 955 on air, so I can probably confirm what chew said, that the NB VID is being applied correctly, despite what software claims. (Not to worry, all the playing around I did with the memory was with everything else at stock clocks).
I think the UDP4 AM3 needs a Bios.. Ive been searching for results on that Mobo with X550 and im not finding much.
Im stumped ,, this ones for CHEW lol..
The UDP4 DDR3 version looks to have a wierd Bug with ram or something else....
Same here as CPU-NB voltages works fine. I didn't even bother to look at software reading until I read this thread, but it has got to be working because I have to raise that voltage to go higher than 2280MHz for my 955BE's NB.
I suppose I'm not actually 100% certain, given that this board has problems reporting voltages in windows. I have gone all the way up to "+.350V" in the BIOS, which the PC Health section tells me is feeding 1.95 volts. I am unfamiliar with DDR3, so I don't know how much farther I can go.
Dont go overboard on the Ram with volts.. Set it to where the Bios is correct for yor rated volts ,while trying to trouble shoot.
Set the Ram mode for speed and see what the setting report on Auto timing?
Maybe try Raisng the TRC value to something like 34 or even 42 or even higher.
It may be that the Mushkin timing dosnt like the Mobo.
Also use Memtest make shure you dont have errors.
if you get errors right away , send the Ram back.
The RAM is rated for between 1.85 to 1.95 volts according to the packaging. That's the range in which I've been testing
That's the other weird thing, this board doesn't obey the SPD on the sticks at all. If I set the timings to auto, it runs the RAM at 11-11-11-27, or something like that (also not stable at 1600mhz). Which is weird because, for those of you who've seen the BIOS on this board, it displays the SPD values in a column on right right side of the settings.
I'll try that, although it's pretty high already.

From your description of the problem, I'm thinking dodgy RAM. SPD improperly programmed/not readable, not stable at CAS-11 at 1.9V (!), not Memtested at stock...Memtest will tell you for sure, but right now I'd be looking at the RAM, not the mobo.
Got the same issue. Tried to up the NB clock but at 2400 it's unstable. Anything above 2400 won't even boot :(. Tried applying +.250 on both NB vid and CPU NB vid, but it seems like it doesn't apply the increased voltage.
Now i'm sitting at 2310 mhz for the NB and 1400 mhz with 6-6-6-19 for ram.
Is there any other way (except a DMM - my sister appears to have lost it :mad:) to know if the increased voltages are applied?
CPUvid or Vcore works... CPUvcore only needs about +.200 or +.225 for 1.56volts.. I would clock the CPU to a medium clock say 3500( this can be done with only 1.4vcore .Once thats Stable then Clock the NB raising the NBvid as needed. Once you get 2600 or better with Stock Ram timing then try raising the CPU more. Once its becomes ustable again,, try a hair more CPUvcore . This will usually get you stable again
add NBvid if you are Blue screening or Nonconvegant It will take time. Thes new Bioses are a little tricky .

Ive been able to tweak UD4P in about two days just by setting things one step at a time and writing down what works and what dosnt.
when i frist started 2200nb was my max and 3900mhz was barely stable to bench.
NBvid is @1.1vid stock,,
(NB2600mhz - 2800mhz) you will need around +.250 min if your @ 3800mhz
1.1vid Default,,
1.2vid when +.100
1.3vid when +.200
1.4vid when +.300
1.5vid when +.400
When i first started clocking this 550 i could not get over 2200nb..untill i started using NBvid @ +.250 or higher depending on CPU clocks.
Try with CPU @ 3500 with 1.4vcore and NB@ +.250 or +.275 you should get 2600mhz easy.
Im on DDR2 which is even harder to get NB@2800mhz @ 4100mhz
Ok, i will try it, but you must know - i'm on a 720BE so the stock for NB vid is higher than that on the 550. Right now i'm at 3570 mhz for the cpu and i'm trying to work the NB speed up. What would you recommend for max volts on the NB? Air cooling - antec 900 so it's well ventilated.
got voltage, u mean CPU NB vid? Or NB voltage?

As for Clocking the 720,,
720's can use up to 1.55vid depending on cooling.
A 720 unlocked will get about 3600/3700 stable with around 2400nb .
Ive only seen a few that did 3800mhz on all four cores...My 720 was not one of them that did that 24/7. I could only do small runs with it. it was rock solid@ 3600mhz-3700mhz depending on Nb i used.
it took 1.4+ NBvid and 1.52 CPUvid/vcore to get 3650mhz/2500nb @X4cores

My 24/7 with 720BE,, UD4P i used NBvid +.250 = 1.45vid to get the NB to 2600mhz . That was even unstable so i just settle for 3600/2400nb . If you want a good Unlocker a 550 hands down compared to 720.

Last Both My Chips 550 unlocked @ 4100mhz and 720 X3 @3950mhz.
Green is 550............Red is 720.
I had to run the 720 in NormalX3cores so it could keep up. the 720 in X4cores @ 3600mhz only benched 17500 with same Mobo and Vidcard.
So If your using a 720 for benching ,, Its best to keep it a X3 and go for a huge OC on it.
As for the 550 it simply changes the Rules and wipes the 720 clean regardless.

Sry about long post..UD4P will run either chip regardless,, just use the F5A ATM and tweak it slow.
