Dude, you just dont quit do you? why dont you go apply for a marketing job at ATi since you do a better job marketing their products than they do.

... As far as I am concerned ATI and AMD are separate companies. they make different products. you wanna come over and see the difference for yourself?
I've got a 4ghz CDQ with a 4870x2 @ 870mhz in one rig and a PHII with 900mhz 4890's in the other. the video solutions are nearly identical and its not even a question about ATI.
Dont even try to call me an AMD processor fanboy because it just plain aint true. I built a new i7 rig at work yesterday - for CAD. As far as I see it intel has its uses and so does AMD - intels best use happens to be workstation and CPU intensive tasks whereas my AMD rig is better for gaming.
I had a feeling that this would happen. As soon as i5 hits the market i7 cpus skyrocket. This is exactly why I didn't upgrade to 1366.
Then again how long has the Q6600 been EOL for and they can still be found. Altough it's for more than it's worth.
You a fanboy? never!
anyway, so you are telling me and the 100 review sites who say Intel is better than amd in everything, including gaming are wrong? Why dont you go read the reviews again and look at the minimum frames per second, that is what really counts. The fact that the Core i7 overclocks like a madman doesnt help AMD either.

Dont ask me to explaing why the AMD system is smoother for gaming lol, it just is, thats as good as I can give you because all I am doing is comparing the systems 1:1 in a gaming evaluation....
the PHII isnt jesus and it certainly isnt faster than i7, it blows for crunching lol - I only got 710 points yesterday on it whereas my q9650 does like ~2,000 per day
Please lets not start this "AMD is smoother in games" argument. There is no proof, just user opinion. I think I see it too sometimes between my AMD system and Intel one, but there is no proof so it is pointless to even bring it up. It just ends up being a flame war thread :)
@ Shintai (That being said, speed does not always define smoothness)
And as for the 920 and 940 being discontinued... I think I will sit this one out with my q6600 as well.
Linking hardocp= fails. I'd understand if you linked AT or lost circuits or even techreport(not counting their fail review of SSD's on P4 system).
Q6600 is one great CPU.Even today ;). i5 may be a worthy upgrade if you do a lot of video transcoding stuff. In other cases you may as well stick with Q6600.
wow, last time I ever try to post anything slightly against intel here :shakes:  I dont see why you are because I dont have any agenda to promote AMD processors over intel processors, I was just saying what I noticed.
Makes me glad I got my i7 last week at a good price. This may not happen, although it is conceivable; the Core i7 920 does seem to move too closely into the territory of the Core i5 processors, although there are plenty of other differences in the associated platform. I'm curious if people think (again, assuming this is true) that this has more to do with separating the processors as opposed to the platforms. The Core i5 series do share a great deal of similarity with the i7, but I'm not sure how all of this makes much of a difference since there isn't any real difference in cost to produce any particular one, only what can be charged...
my guess:
920 is gonna be replaced by 925, which has some cpu feature no one cares about.
id like to see how this plays out first before we all go sackriding AMD
The Intel i7 is named for the seventh generation of Intel Chips. Calling the next chip the "i5" would be counter-intuitive don't you think?
It makes me wonder if this information is true. As we know alot of people forge their data/pictures etc.
These are only rumors right now.
And the "i5's" have a northbridge integrated into the processor which is no good for overclocking.
Hmm I'm not going to get in a debate about AMD vs intel however....
Its quite obvious you are blinded......let me help remove the 1% tint from your glasses.......
Take a look at the bot and see how many AMD cpu's I haven't gotten a 100% plus OC out of ;)
Both make great products......intels IPC appears to be better........Amd's scaling is better......
Wasn't the possibility of this happening discussed before on this forum? Although we have no confirmation if this is true or not I certainly remember the gist of weither or not moving to the 1366 would be worth it or not.
The thing is GAR, I dont get why you flamed me for comparing MY intel rig to MY AMD rig.... lol you post in response to me like I said "hahahaha look my AMD system is better than yours!!!" - which is not what I said at all so you should check your attitude and the way you read things before you attack someone.
/OT for me, just had to make that observation.
i dont understand why intel is doing this
