If water cooling is out (and the only single slot solution is the DD blocks, which are horrendously overpriced) maybe you might want to consider the lian li fan that attaches over the GPUs, something like this http://www.frozencpu.com/products/53...tl=g43c241s629. If watercooling is in, maybe a 120mm radiator on the spare 120mm fan at the back. And maybe a 140mm radiator ziptied to the power supply intake fan, although that might not be worthwhile (you could always cut the PSU bracket or leave as is, it gets enough air through as far as I can tell with my A05). Then maybe parallel GPUs, not ideal, but then the situation isn't either.
You'd probably be saturating the radiators if you did this, but it's an idea.
PS: Looking forward to machine two. But I'll be damned if I can figure out how you'll cool those GPUs.
Edit: Sorry didn't read your first post properly. I wouldn't have a clue how to cool five video cards on that, I was thinking that three would be pushing it. Maybe the fan is the only option and pray that they don't overheat. Or consider sacrificing the stacked radiators and use them for the graphics cards, along with the above new radiators if you think it's a good idea. I think an i7 'might' be able to survive on a PA160 and an MCR220.
where are the hdd data and power cables ?
I see two but didn't I see a pic of about 8 HDDs?
u know what just hit me...
those gpu's are gonna be under load all the time.
IANY wait bro... what uses more power My HD X2 in Xfire or your 5 gpus? Because if its Yours, your 1kw isnt gonna cut it bro, thats why haruhi has 2.
I see three? I thought the GTX 295s were for machine two?
Edit: I stand corrected.
The 8 HDDs got nixed. I have it stored away in favor of more rads because cooling is going to be an issue when I get the video cards in. The HDD data and power cables ran through the side and then the front of the case. Notice that the HDDs are inverted backwards. If you look at the pics carefully, about 1/2 way down the worklog, you will see blue Western Digital Sata cables. You will also see regular 4 pin power connectors because those are old school Raptors, not the new ones that need sata power only.
I can ran 8 HDDs no problem, bu the PA120.1 has to go at the back, and so I lose the potential for one more radiator. I will also have to squeeze a whole lot more power cables.
I had already spent my entire Sunday tinkering and the wife was getting very mad with me. The easy way out was to nix the HDDs.
Update: I'm going to take that BFG card out and replace it with another EVGA vanilla card. It "looks" better (I can't believe I actually said that!). But more importantly, the machine seems to be freaking out when it comes to enabling Tri SLI (maybe I need to move the cards around), but Windows sees all cards perfectly but enbales only two in SLI. Strangely, it enables a EVGA and a BFG, but doesn't see the other EVGA when it comes down to it lol Anyway, its about time for the kid's 7900GTXes to be retired to the museum. At least the Mrs. has 9800GTX+es.
Update: as far as future machines go, I am planning. Does not mean that I will eventually buy according to the specs I listed. Obviously, its an e-peeny thing and I shoot for the shock and awe factor. Take that with a grain of salt, although the P6T7 Supercomputer mobo really sparks my interest.
Update: MCR320 Stack on top of the case and MCR320 Stack out the back with a Radbox! Just joking lol :)
Edit: I think I'm just going to go for it. Put a PA120.1 or a MCR120 Stack (which do you think is better??) and just plumb everything in one loop. Get a second pump in there though. CPU temps are going to suffer, but I'm not aggressively overclocking. 4 Ghz is plenty for me (21x191 works well). The question is whether I can get three or five vido cards in there, and I would never know until I try.
I would like to move forward with the video card cooling. I'm a little upset that none of the components I want are available for sale.
The EVGA Hydro Block isn't for sale yet. The only other block that suits the general appearance of this machine is the EK Acetal. The Danger Den isn't available anywhere else apart from DD itself, and about $30 to $40 more per block than any other block (where do they get off with those prices). The Koolance is way too garish and isn't my taste anyway.
There are no PA120.1s for sale anywhere. There are no Feser single rads for sale, not that I would buy those. There are no Swiftech single stacks released yet, and the regular single Swiftech is too wimpy. There however is a Black Ice GTX for a reasonable choice and it looks like that's what I will end up buying.
Does anybody think I need another pump if I put in one single rad and three video water blocks into that look??
Iany i hope you take my PSU advice accordingly.
Your gonna overload that comp with that many GPU's. I know for a Fact a dude was overloading his HX1000 when he ran Furmark on Xfired X2's.
The same was done with me also.
EDIT: omg why did i call you andy?
I have a PCP&C T12 1.2kW on its way (the $500 one) and also a double PCP&C 1kW-SR. Now worries there about PSU.
The HX1000 has given me nothing but headaches. I installed it only to appease you guys with the cable management :)
When I break down for video loops, I'll make sure the machine looks terrible again, and there will be cables everywhere. I understand about PSU, and honestly, the HX1000 can't handle 3-way SLI and many HDDs at the same time. The PSU refused to start up for me with more than 4 HDDs connected. It just lay dead, and I thought I had to RMA my second HX1000.
In fact, one of my initial crazy ideas was to have 4-way SLI and 4-way X-fire in the same machine, just for kicks.
Naekuh, stop worrying :)
Ahh I was hoping on a step by step pictorial guide :p
j/k looks good for what I can see, wouldn't mind seeing more of the build itself though, the hole drilling ect but I'm not complaining it would only take longer and I wouldn't want to increase time before those bad boys go tearing up some wu's
As for psu and load I wouldn't worry Atlasfolder runs an heavier setup then you on 1200w, I treid to look for his power testing data I know he posted online but I can't find it right now. Will look or ask tomorrow.
Or have you thought about contacting CyberDruid (I'm not sure if he does or doesn't do this by the way) about making you a RadBox something along the lines of what he did before here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=217716. I'm sure if he does do them, he could work with you to make both you and your wife happy.
Gents,
With complete respect, I asked some questions that I would very much appreciate if I could get appropriate advice. Not bullying, but I would like to move forward. Many thanks.
Some information about power usage, had to ask for the link as I couldn't find it manually :sofa:

I think you're safe with 3 285's ;)
To everybody, and especially to the Moderators.
I recognize the problem with Photobucket bandwidth and all my pictures.
Give me 8 hours to get home to deal with this issue. I cannot access Photobucket from work.
Many thanks for your patience.
how did you exceed your bandwith?
I never seem to be able to do that, and i whore my pictures around.
Dayum.... all the pics gone. Hurry up and fix. :)
Ok [XC] riptide, the pics are back up :) for now :) I hope ;)
