Im talking about the thing that looks like a drill bit, but is on the jigsaw. Not the blades the other one
Brilliant Charles!
lovely lovely work charles :)
What could we expect other than the best of the best from the best....:D.
A wonderful work and N1 transfer with a spacy idea behind. Excellent pictures from your work "Mr. Rotozip".
Hope to see the finish soon....
Greats, also to Nils.
Subscribed!
Thank you Daniel. :)
I have to say, working with you on this project has been an absolute pleasure!
brainwashers... I love it! :ROTF:
Oh yes. As rocket733 indicated, it's a rotary tungsten carbide cutting bit for the RotoZip. The RotoZip comes with that "jigsaw style" handle that makes it easier to cut using jigs.
Thank you Rocky. :)
Cheers bentleya. :)
Wow tamtam, thank you for the kind words. :)
I have to say, coming here and getting such positive feedback is so heart warming. So much of what we do in life comes with no praise and it's really special when people come together in a Community setting and provide encouragement and support for each other. Being part of this Community means a lot to me and it feels great to be able to make small contributions.
I can tell you this - with what Nils and I are doing, the best is yet to come.
Cheers. :)
Project Update:
I’ve got everything ready for final mockup. I just need to make a few minor tweaks but wanted to at least give you an idea of what it looks like. I’m still waiting for my fasteners to arrive so I’ll have to use temporary ones for now. The finals will be black oxide w/ flat head Phillips drive.

Next, I’ll install the PLED mount plate. Again, temp fasteners. :yepp:

Finally, it’s time to slide the facade in place… But wait; since I don’t have the nuts epoxy’d to the back yet, I’ll have to remove the PLED mount plate and attach the facade first.

Now I can attach the whole enchilada to the TJ07 vertical piece – moment of truth time…

Joy!
Next, I’ll break it down and make the minor tweaks needed. Then, I’ll prep the case parts for powder coating by designing and mocking up the LC loop and drilling the cable management holes. Once that’s done, I’ll send out the parts for powder coating. Before that however, I’ll have to measure up the side panel for its custom water jet cutting. This is the part of this project I’ve been dreading – the window locations for the PLEDs will have to be perfect and there can be no do-overs. I’ll measure and then measure again. Then I’ll start over. For this part of the process to work out, I think I’m going to need a bigger lucky zen frog. ;)
Oh, I forgot to mention the big surprise! I better do that now… Guys, there’s going to be a big surprise… errr… hopefully. :D
Thanks for looking in. :)
Wow! After first meeting Daniel and hearing about this idea - i was sceptical if it could become an aesthetically pleasing result, just because I thought it is unnecessary'bling'. But now - I totally love it. It is just so good that the display mounting is not seen from the outside at all.
Daniel: I think he has to send the case to me first for serious inspection :D
Charles: I am deeply impressed. It has a fit and finish as the modern Macs do. Very good for 'homemade' work :D I wish you more than best and no stuffed up nozzle for the sidepanel-cuts. :)
Second on the Fit and finish of modern macs.. it's absolutely gorgeous as is all of your work charles!
Can't wait to get my murdermod case :) Not to mention see this big surprise!
Like Nils says, the fit and finish of your work is amazing. It looks better than any other work I have better seen!
The only problem is that you are making all our builds look rubbish
The idea and execution on the PLED cover plates is top-notch. I wonder what thickness of plexiglass will be used for the window.
Top notch duder
Top notch! How about Over the Top
Modder without compare :clap::clap::clap:
Loving these MM cases
Simply amazing! :up::shocked:
Charles eehm sorry...I mean GOOOOOOOOOOOOD :D
Just an awesome example of pure perfectionism. Can't wait for the final shots
Perfect work Charles, and design is trully art ;)
I have only one part I dislike, the opening between top and metal plate, better look with all closed.
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/DS.mM.085.jpg
It's a small detail and with all the work you done it was already perfect
@ Charles: It's a pleasure to work with you too. I'll actually be a little sad when this is over, but that will be offset by the opportunity to see and touch this masterpiece in person.
@ Nils: See, I told you it will look good! :D
Talking about inspecting the thing, I already dread the nosy german customs...
Every update is a treat and the highlight of my every morning!
Daniel.
Charles this is so... perfect!
And on the eight day.........
a bit of a silly question Charles...but how would you mount any drive bay device with that LCD-face plate already attached?
