Kazgirl(and all others Phenom owners),just one question about your Phenom sub par Game testing(compared to A64).
Did you by any chance try the Phenom X4 driver from AMD's website?Could have been that TSC of the cores are not in sync?
It's just a wild shot,but could be a good try :).We need better BIOS and a better chipset drivers for 790FX.
Good luck :)
I really looking forward to what DFI has in store for 790FX. They havent let me down in the past on any of my AMD rigs :D
Still its good to see that some AM2 boards to infact work with Phenom. I wonder if my Biostar T560+ works...
Hi, mrcmtl
yes, BIOS 1503, and M2N32SLI..... not good so far.....but at least it boots...though it took a CLR CMOS to do it the first time to clear my RAM settings.
Hi Informal,
No actually I havn't tried that yet, I will try it, but I still think its more fundamental than that, as there seems to be issues with the RAM settings as well, as this BIOS doesn't recognise my RAM SLI Profiles, and it fails to POST when I try to set it manually....
But I'm going to try that driver now, to see if it helps at all.... thanks for the suggestion, I'm surprised I didn't think of it sooner myself, I'm always on the AMD Forums...... I think its because of the BIOS problems, until I can get the BIOS sorted, and get it to boot with RAM at the rated settings I've sort of given up on it.... waiting for a reply from ASUS about when they'll be getting a new BIOS.....
I'll let you know how it go's, though I'm not overly optimistic, even though its an excellent suggestion....:up:
For Setting up NB Speed... it does not come easy... :shrug: you need to get your hand dirty before it done.. LOL :D
Tools Needed:
WPCREDIT
NB Register = Bus#0 Device#24 Function#3 Offset D4h (32bit access mode) , Bit 0,1,2,3,4 (5bit)
NB clock = 200 x (NbFid + 4).
*NBFid = in decimal
Bit = Hex = Decimal = NB Speed calculation
00001b = 1h = 1 = NB clock 200x (1+4) = 1000MHz
00010b = 2h = 2 = NB clock 200x (2+4) = 1200MHz
00011b = 3h = 3 = NB clock 200x (3+4) = 1400MHz
00100b = 4h = 4 = NB clock 200x (4+4) = 1600MHz
00101b = 5h = 5 = NB clock 200x (5+4) = 1800MHz
00111b = 6h = 6 = NB clock 200x (6+4) = 2000MHz
....
11011 = 1Bh = 27 = NB clock 200x (27+4) = 6200MHz
after setting it up.. you need to restart to make the NB speed change :shrug:
Great post tictac! :clap:
@ Chaos-Storm, could you please try reducing NB multiplier to see if 3GHz is possible?
Someone may have to explain this to me. If i screw this up, can i fix it with a bios reset...
Well that's been an entire evening spent on SLi and Vista :(
I can't get AMD overdrive to run on vista as it insists it can't detect the RD700 chipset:confused:
I run 06 under XP in SLi and got this http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=3904546
I'm a complete newbie to sli so I'm unsure if sli was even setup properly. :p:
I managed little else I'm afraid.
TIC-TAC
That's a great help, I may well try that in the morning. thx
k, this is as far as I got. Now what?

Is it the first 5 bits on the righthand side....?
Not sure if I want to do this
yes that is the number set it ... after set you need to restart te computer to make the new NB speed take effect...
after you shutdown the computer the setting will be gone.. so no worry :up:
to make it easier number shown in that place represent
00001b = NB Multiplier 5x
00010b = NB Multiplier 6x
00011b = NB Multiplier 7x
00100b = NB Multiplier 8x
00101b = NB Multiplier 9x
00111b = NB Multiplier 10x
NB Speed = NB multiplier x HTT
Good Luck
I changed the multiplier to 6 from 9 using the program, but my computer wouldn't boot on restart. I have since turned my computer off and on, and the settings have been reset. I wonder why it wasn't even stable enough to boot up...
Hmm, it looks like I can't reboot with my overclocked settings, but i can pick them from windows. Gonna give this Northbridge thing another go, as it was not what cause my computer not to boot.
Doesn't seem to work. All I should have to do is make the changes and hit "Set", right? or is there something else involved and then click yes on the prompt that says "Data was changed !! Does it set up New Register ?" or am I missing something
Did you pushed the reset button or u used restart through windows?
