Low shadows just ruins a game though. It may have a large performance impact, but it also has an equally large visual impact :(

Wow, interesting to read how its performing with the different setups. I am in China on business and am looking forward to returning back home to load this on my desktop. Ill post results when I get back.
Would my msi ultra handle all settings on high at 1920x1200?
i wonder how this would run on a ps3, probably not as good with all teh features on high vers a computer.
i kinda like that is only on the pc.
how does the ps3 graphics card compare to whats out now for pc's?
Sweet JESUS!
I have a 8800gt on the way along with a 24" Samsung this weekend (for my bday) We'll see how well the combo does. I have a feeling I'm going to need a second 8800gt to max out a lot of the new games coming out.
Doesn't really matter for the demo as ther is no sli support for Crysis yet. Can't wait until the full, optimized version comes out.
It just can't do it, we don't know if its drivers or just how it is.
I do know that we cannot pass the "medium" mark on this game yet for smooth gameplay. We need the next generation of GPUs.
Does this game take advantage od multiple threads?
after playing this first time today on my 7900gtx at 1920 on low snap shot mode haha, going to get a 8800gt for £150 and maybe pair it up with another in a few months, not bothered about getting top end stuff just something so i can play this game abit better
I've been playing on 1680x1050 all high settings except Shaders and shadows on medium with an average framerate of 38fps. Amazing game, I've been playing it all weekend.
I've also been messing with the sandbox editor. I'm spawning all the weapons and attatchments in the demo level too. All I need to figure out is how to "rest" the objects on tables and such so they dont just float there when you pick up or break the object they're on.
Just a heads up for those with widescreens and GTXs... When I first got the demo I loaded it up in all its 1920x1080 glory and of course was getting 10-12fps. I tried various combinations of settings, but wasnt happy with the loss in visual quality. I finally had to abandon the native res of my HDTV to get acceptable frames.
Best compromise for me was to run at 1360x768 resoultion with all settings left on very high. This gives 30ish in the GPU bench and is very playable in game. Its wprth noting that 1360x768 is roughly %70 of full native res and aspect ratio is maintained. It is worth the %30 hit in rez to keep all DX10 features enabled (very high)
I dunno about very high settings, but my GTX runs it beautifully at 1680x1050, all high except shaders and shadows, which are med...
Soulburner, what resolution are you running?
im liking it, played it at 1680x1050 2xAA high everything except shadows, and volumetric lighting, shaders was off w/ my 7800gt
It's official... I'm a fanboy...
Just pre-ordered the game at my local Blockbuster, and I'm currently wearing a black T-shirt with a large "CrYsis" written diagonally across the front.. :D :woot:
Best Regards :toast:
i loved the demo i might fork out the $50 to get the game, i had a few problems with cat 8.4 drivers so i went back to 7.8 and they were fixed looks awesome love how you can shoot down little trees
so i'm guessing i couldn't max this out @ 1680 x 1050 with my gtx @ 660/2040,2gb ram and quad @ 3.2ghz
anyone found any commands (cheat codes) when you hit the ~ key during gameplay? I've tried all sorts and none found so far...
OK, found a cheat:
it works.. your health goes to zero but bounces back to full, and ammo is unlimited.
so you can be bullet proof and beat the heck out of everyone with your fists if you want LOL!

God Mode
Locate the difficulty files in your Crysis installation folder (ie: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Game\Config). These files are called diff_easy.cfg, diff_normal.cfg, diff_hard.cfg and diff_bauer.cfg. Open the file (with Notepad) that corresponds to the difficulty level you are playing. Add the following line to the end of the file and save it:
g_godMode = 1
Now, when playing your health will still decrease but you will not die. Instead, your health and armor will automatically replenish when your health reaches 0.
Unlimited Ammo
Using the same method as above, add the following line to the end of your config file:
i_unlimitedammo = 1
Your ammo will be frozen in the game.
I have a GTS and it works fine.. I don't know what the problem is..
All I want is the scope so I can get better stealth headshots.
Next, I need to go through it without firing a shot.... only rocks, sticks, and punches :eek:
