You do realise that a faster cpu can skew the results a fair bit?
I'm not sure where you get those scores from, but I just ran 05-3dmark with my 8800gts 320 and it came out to 16,6k
So, my question is.
With the 256bit bus compared to the 320bit bus on the older model, how will the newer ones perform?
Is the gt slower than the older 8800gts and how much faster is the newer 8800gts than the old?
I'm really wondering if I should sell my card or if it doesn't matter at all at this point

Looks from what I have seen, the gt is going after the 2950 pro but will not be faster than the 8800gts.
The new 8800gts will be faster the older 8800gts and has 640megs of memory, but is priced around $310+
still $50-60 more than an 8800gts 320.
Does this sound correct?

I cannot replicated the 06 scores because I don't have a full copy of 06 3dmark.
For those that ask why people use 05-3dmark, because it's more of a gpu benchmark since it relies less on the cpu for calculations.
06 is an overall benchmark.
This is at default stock 8800gts no oc.
x3210 cpu oc to 2.85 on asus p5n-e sli, 1066 crucial ballistix
Stock on this 8800 I think is 560mhz-gpus, 850mhz-memory
I was in the 17's with my evga 680i, since the oc was at 3.5, but the board was so unstable and I had to rma it a handful of times, that I downgraded to a more stable but less powerful board.
Here is the real issue though.
Nvidia is selling the 8800s at a very good pace and gtx models as well.
Why would they bite their own nose by releasing a cheaper model that performs better than an 8800gtx which costs 2x as much and yet have the newer gtx come out next year.
It doesn't make any sense..
They in a sense would be killing off the gtx model, putting the ultra model in bad spot being $500+ and losing customers from the 8600 gts models... All this from the profit of $199 boards?
Thats like saying mercedes just came out with a car thats much better than their 80k model and they are pricing it at 45k
Also, why are all these benchmarks from taiwan or china.. why hasn't one vendor here been able to produce real benchmarks?
Everyday these specs and numbers are changing, meanwhile tomshardware is doing reviews on beer water-cooling for god sakes!
Also, last but not least, these benchmarks mean jack squat unless you are using an fps benchmark in games.
The 06-3dmark that most people own will not let you bench with any effects, anti-aliasing, etc.
Thats why the 2900's do so well in 06-3dmark, yet when it comes to gaming, they hit the sh*tter when all the effects are on.
What they need is a benchmark that has 2 min scenes from about 5-6 games all combined into one.
Depending on when the new 8800gts comes out, I might just use my step-up on that. I play on 1280x1024, so the memory isn't really a concern for me. More stream processors and an improved manufacturing process (greater o/c ability) are what intrigue me.
