OK, small update with few photos.

II stage already done, sorry for mess and for oil spots on insulation, when I was disconnecting manifolds from I stage I`ve got small oil gajzer, so everything is messed...eh...is there possibility to clean that ? maybe with water...

Erm just stick more armflex tape over it...i cant see it getting any more messy of a build but wow them temps!!!

-109C load for a 2 stage is pretty impressive IMO. Cant wait for temps from the 3rd stage.

Maybe I read that wrong, but how can you load the 2 stage without the 3 stage complete?

hehe, II stage is unloaded of course, I just written, that I stage is under II stage load, so I stage is loaded a little bit by second :p Tomorrow I will try to finish III stage, I`m thinking about building two oil separators and connecting them in series.

Try to clean it with alcohol, water will not work. And then... just more Armaflex over it. Please don't just tape over the oiled places, that wont fit very long there...

I`m thinking about not using any subcooler or slhx on III stage, NoL, what do you think about that ?

You wont get anything out of the argon then. Or just very little. The subcooler doesnt need to be large. Try 3/16" in 3/8" tube. Maybe even 1/8" in 1/4".

how long ? How much captube I should use for it ? 4m of 0,8mm ? more/less ?

Probably I won`t be able to get argon before saturday ;/ on sunday symphy is going to take unit.

I'm no expert, but you need enough to basically cool down to -110C or colder. Your not dealing with any real load though. 4m might work just fine. Maybe even longer?

about oil problems at III stage I thinked about small idea.

What about using captube instead of oil return valve...but...long captube, like 6-7m of 0,8mm captube ? Then oil will be sucked all the time by compressor and won`t be flushed from oil separator by R14 when oil return valve will be closed. With very long captube suction pressure maybe won`t raise too much

How about autocascade the 3rd with r290 and whatever you would have. Just use the r290 as the oil carrier and have it chill a HX that will cool the r14 slightly before it enters the -100C HX.

So no need for oil separator then. But to separate R290 from R14 I would need to use another condenser to have liquid r290

Well you should be using at least a small desuperheater to begin with ;)

Regarding the insulation: When Cryo-tek re-insulated my suction lines, he used this odd type of pipe insulation that feels like a cross between closed-cell and open cell foam. He says that it's MUCH better than closed cell alone and that's what they use to insulate for -160C temps. I don't recall the name of that stuff...I'll try to find out for you later....

There are a lot tricks to raise the temperature on the CPU without raising the temperature of the evap!

no our cpu cooled with that monster wont have problems with the temperature :)

yup, the cpu should work to sth around -140°C evap temp...

Ok, small update without photos ;)

I almost finished III stage, I brazed big oil separator, brazed some connections, now only must connect suction line to compressors and make discharge going to oil separator :) No slhx at this momment, I wanna see results without it.

Probably I won`t able (on 99%) to get Argon before "deadline", so no subcooler.

Hm, you should get Argon like... everywhere, shouldn't you? MSN later that day...

No symphy, I spended all budget money for that unit...I wanted to borrow Argon from Berkut, but my car is still domaged, so it`s hard go to him.

We should meet after CeBIT and finish that cascade in 100%, like charging with argon or something.
