On Sunday AM 12/10, Zipzoom Fly shows to have the 9136's in stock.... Never purchased from them, are they any good?:confused:

Didn't have the patience to read the whole thread, but all in all, would you recommend these chips, or are there better ones out there? Preferably from Corsair, OCZ or Geil, as G. Skill, Team, and so on are not retailed in Norway.

They are ok and I do believe it's one of e-tailers that Corsair will send you to if you call them.

I think in this day and age it now comes down to what you can find as far as high end ram goes, not what brand you perfer. I have not yet seen a bad performing high end ram:)

As stated, we don't have the "performance" brands here in Norway, so I wanted to know which chips were best amongst Corsair, OCZ and Geil.

That's a tough one to answer:fact: I favor Corsair myself, I'm not sure you can get an answer on that as ram can perform different on various MB's and setups. Also MB compatibility you need to consider.

What I can say is that just about any ram you maybe looking at has at one point or another has been tested on this forum by members who know and understand the working of ram and know how to get the most out of it.

You really need to read through all the post and benchmarks with results and decide for your self, also they run extreme in here and you may just want mild overclocks and not be as demanding on your ram as extreme overclockers are.

I do not feel you can go wrong with any of what you looked at above:)

Most prefer micron chip and most of the higher end ram regardless of brand will use it.

I was gonna by the 9136. While waiting for it to come in, kingston throws some 9600 into the mix. My 9600 will be here monday. Hopefully the Dominator Killer!

They sure do talk a lot about AMD in this article http://internet.itbusinessnet.com/ar...e.jsp?id=87574

Too much AMD talk for my liking when it comes to wondering how well it will work in the 680i board. Please let us know how it works though

That does not surprise me, look at all the DDR2 memory reviews online and most test systems are an AMD cpu.

Some of them are hard to find, but that's due to their popularity.

Don't get me wrong, I know it's frustrating, but the parts exist, and they are hitting online retailers constantly.

I thought it was interesting that the 6400C3's were GKX while the dominators were D9GMH *but handpicked according to the Ramlist.

corsair 6400c4 and gskill6400hz's are 500 aud
9136 are 675 aud !!!

The 6400C4 are an entry-level model and they are typically not Micron ICs, but PROMOS ICs instead.

The 8500C5, 9136C5, 6400C3, and 8888C4 are all Micron-based, and perform considerably better.

okely dokely..some 6400c4s used to have micron i think....it's changed.
used to be 6400c4 d9's - still think gskill are using d9's for hz but i could be wrong; and now there are more expensive d9's screeeened for high voltage pleasure.

i got a deal on some 9136 so it's academic to me now.

Well, I have just updated for fun the SPD of my Kingston ValueRAM PC3200 stick with EPP profiles from Team Group Xtreem-A2-DDR2-800 memory stick. Here is the screenshot of my work:

So, have you ever seen a DDR SDRAM stick with EPP? :) Now, I can sell that stick with a low markup of 10 bucks, because its SPD incorporates EPP profiles :) I have reprogrammed a lot of unknown chinese DDR2 RAM sticks with EPP profiles and all of them works fine.

Thanks for the link. How do you utilise EPPs? I understand that the settings are stored in the SPD, but can I select the EPP profile from within a 680i BIOS or from some utility in Windows??

EDIT: So I tried the option in the BIOS for SLI-Ready RAM and set it to CPUMax. POST was fine, it sat the loading windows screen and didnt progress. So back into BIOS, set vmem to 2.225 and it booted fine. But still, no apparent changes in the memory from within CPU-Z:

My 9136 Dominators went bad!

After a week of Corsair tech guys trying to convince me it was mobo issues BFG 680i and testing I finally separated the ram and put into my wife's P5B DLX, finally found the 1 module that is bad, test #5 memtest fails but not every pass.

Well initially I was getting NV4_DISP.DLL errors and crashes in Supreme Commander I used an extra drive and loaded XP fresh. The biggest problem is that with both modules installed the errors are extremely random.

However after doing DDR2-1120 in P5B and using only the 1 module I thought was bad I get orthos large FFT and blend 20 seconds and it halts with error.

Corsair support finally gave an RMA but then told me they couldn't replace my 9136 as they didn't have stock. Spoke with CS Supervisor and he was able to find me a set to replace these bad sticks. Did some reading on newegg for the 8888C4, 10000C5, 9136C5 and lots of people reporting ram going bad on them.

:( Sad to say that my reason for going with Corsair was that I never had a bad set of ram with them, I stopped using Crucial because of my Ballistix (3 sets of bad ram that started failing within a few weeks to a month) Now I just hope I don't go through this fiasco again!

how bout %90 of ppl here it seems are breaking the warrantys the second they pop there sticks in.i find it quite amazing how corsair reps etc are in the forums openly watching ppl fry there sticks to death,fail,then rma time??no questions asked?..unreal:shrug:

are u kidding me?u ppl are frying good sticks to get a few more mhz with tighter timings etc and corsair gives rma,s on these?would love to know at what point corsair loses money on a certain model of sticks after the masses cook them to death.seems to me ppl are slapping the mem companies in the face by taking really good products and breaking them without even thinking twice...sad really .

Actually what is sad is that for 6 months I ran my sticks at 2.2v @ 1120mhz, that would actually be underclocking as the default is 1142 on these. I bought the set end of Nov 2006, did some testing and left them at 1120mhz on my 680i, 6 months same settings 2.2v because 2.1v on mobo seemed to undervolt the ram a bit and was 100% stable at 2.2v

I bill out my clients $120/hr so after 1 week of Corsair asking me to try different things who do you think lost money here? I have easily 20+ hrs into testing per Corsair tech's request only to come to the conclusion that one of my sticks is indeed bad.
