you may want to check the version of your bios...it's on a sticker on the card or use nbitor

I have aan xfx and an evga. the evga has an older bios and it won't clock anywhere near as high as the xfx.

Don't kno if it is bios elated, but the evga is a dog

Do you know of any more recent bios for the eVGA card? I am going to volt mod these and possible play around with 226 watt tecs in my loop to cool them down. If there's a madded bios that will help them clock a bit better, then I'd love to down load it.

btw that's a link to where I did a little r&d on the shader overclocking on 8800 gtx cards

I will be trying to flash my evga with the bios from my xfx shortly, to see if it can help get to the speed of the xfx

I downloaded and installed the 97.28 drivers and Riva Tuner 16.2. I oc the core and memory, but for some reason it doesn' show up in the hardware monitoring. However, if I open the nVidia Monitor appe it shows all the proper data. It's nice to set the clocks once and the settings are loaded upon reboot. This is true for the fan settings also.

I downloaded the ".02" rev of the eVGA bios as well as the XFX bios. I have never flashed a GPU before so I have to read up on how it's done. I have nvFlash 5.13 so I think I am set.

One last question. . .how to set the shader clock in NiBiTor?

Try applying the same clock to the 2d mode and you will see it in the monitor.

It's cause you're not in 3d!!! :banana: :banana:

But you will be shortly afterwards I bet...:toast:

I just got both in over the weekend and it looks as if the G80 mounting plate will work with the Apogee 1U without having to mod anything.

Did you happen to run your cards n this configuration? I am thinking of leaving the cards like this to provide the fan air flow, however I will be using the swiftech adaptor plates, so the mounting screws will not allow me to replace the plastic fan cover.

So, just curious whether you ran the cards "naked" without the fan cover? If so, did you notcie any difference between with cover and without?

I ran that card and am still runing it with the plastic cover on.

That card ran in the 3rd PCIE slot, which is nea the bottom of the case,sso I could NOT use the 80mm fan as with the other card.

The card in PICE 1 has the 80mm fan, because the plastic cover insterferes with the mcw 30 that I have on the southbridge.

Probaly your best bet is tio just use some 120mm fand to blow air onto the ramsinks and call it a day.

hope that helps.

BTW...wter cooling the nb and sb keeps things nice and cool.

On a side note, I decided to leave my mb's out of the cases.

I have a small storage room adjacent to my office, which is actually a loft over a study.

There is one ac duct in there, and conveniently, there is an air reurn duct as well.

SO I emptied the room (somewhat) and cut into the return ducts. I now exhause my vapochill(s) into the return and keep the dorr shut. NO noise at all, plus I closed a few vents on that side of the house and now...

as I type this, I am running sli at 38c fully loaded down!!!

managed to get up to 740/1145 in sli

Thanks for your response, I will be using a UFO horizon case, so the cards will be in a vertical configuration, so heat will not get trapped underneath them, will try running them "naked" with the fan still mounted and see what happens and if I fell like it is not doing the trick, will go ahead and add the heat sinks to that side and setup a 120mm to blow across them.

I would seriously recommend using ramsinks with a fan blowing across the memory modules as well as the ramdac and the VRM's (12 litttle chips - 4 rows of 3 VRM's each - to the right of the right hand bank of memory chips) otherwise they will get **very** hot and seriously limit your memory overclock.

EDIT: Btw, please let us know what you think of the MM U2-UFO Horizon case once you load it up with gear. I am considering selling The Wraith (eventually) and beginning a build based on that itineration of the U2-UFO. The wc'ing stuff should all fit nice nice under the mobo and the fans can more intelligently keep the ram sinks cool on the video cards.

In the picture rjw added, the stock fan and portion of the heatsink covers those ram chips, and the VRM's. I was assuming that would provide adequate cooling to those components. I will be of course adding ramsinks to the exposed memory and ramdac, I was just curious about if the portion of the stock cooler left on in that picture provided adequte cooling to the parts you mentioned.

I agree big time :slap:

Heat is a big issue with these cards if you step on the pedal hard...:stick:

My new isolated setup has them running at 38c under full load.

I would have thought it pointless to fit the Apogee 1U as the core is exactly the same size as the MCW60 under the IHS.....as demonstrated HERE :)
