You should know by now perky, on here people only listen to numbers, not what someone tells them those numbers will be.
The 8800GTS is no slouch, it just needs some overclocking loving to show it's stuff.

I agree...though saying that the GTS won't be as powerful is just as much an assumption as saying it will. ;) :pQuote:

8800GTX on Digital-Life with Core2Extreme OCED to 29300 MHz :D
Have any sites done a compare using the X6800 and the FX62 with these 8800gtx. I want to see if the results are the same.

I wonder if they are going to release a 8800GT as there's an empty space for such card between these 2. I believe it would be more like a downclocked GTX in that case than sharing similiarity with GTS. I think this time they realised that 7900GT killed a lot of their GTX sale previously and this time they don't wanna make same mistake on the launch, instead they release this GTS with a bigger difference between the cards than just changing clock speed and also using other type of mem etc. But I wouldn't be that sure about Nvidia leaving it's "GT" part behind as it's been very important card for Nvidia but they're gonna release it as soon as time is right after the 1st wave bought both GTS & GTX at the risk of upsetting the new GTS owners somewhat.
Just pure speculation but to me it sounds very plausible.
Sry for bad english, google translation :)Quote:
Oh honestly. I would not really have thought that. There also Sparkle must stand. The mad map brought points on Tuesday still e.g. in the 3dmark05 14xxx. Then I wanted to again benchen from boredom on Wednesday and it came out as result only 5xxx Punke. I thought well the driver will be shot-up probably. Three times I put the OS on new. I got constant picture errors in the Canyon Fly, with Bf2 was black and transparent the houses. But above all the play world was computed in the Slow Motion effect. Quality sees differently out for the price.
I would say that the 8800GTS' problem is driver-related... In some games, it beats the crap out of the X1950XTX, and in others, it hits rockbottom...
Now, as it's using Unified shaders, it should be able to do almost optimally in all cases right??

MORE PROBLEMS WITH GF8800

Translation (google):
Very honoured customer, as MSI just communicated us, on the part of nVidia all (not only the Pressesamples, but all maps of all manufacturers) 8800er was recalled. As reason a defective diagram chip was indicated. So far it was called only some Pressesamples by it is there affected. We try to stop the distribution of all GPUs from MSI to. If they should receive nevertheless a GPU from us, refuse please the acceptance of the package. The GPUs are sent back now from the respective manufacturers to nVidia, where these are then exchanged as fast as possible for error free GPUs. As soon as the exchange is final, you will receive an error free GPU. We ask to excuse the circumstances, also we few minutes ago by this circumstance were only informed. [...]

Nvidia seems to have pulled back all the affected cards on time but seems they missed out on this shop or the shop was contacted but reacted to slow.

Perk are you gonna update your first post like you normally do? Would be very useful.
Without a single doubt, within the next couple months (in time for Christmas), nVidia will make numerous fixes and in some cases dramatically improve performance in drivers.
To put things in perspective.
Back when 7900GTX was released, very little if any driver changes were needed. Likewise with 7800GTX. Even the 6800 series wasn't as drastic fundamental change as G80. It pretty much like when planes with jet engines first came out.. at first only slightly better than propeler planes.
please anyone have compare all 8800gtx cards out? thanks
