I want to put it on a e6600, and overclock it (like 3600mhz).
Which one is best? or are there better coolers for around 25 euros?
The Core 2 Duo E6300 is nearly $100 more than the D 805.Quote:

I will just want a cheap CPU I can overclock that won't bottleneck the video card.
The E6600 maybe even E6700 will be well cheaper by then anyway, but imo E6600 > E6700 (based on price now etc and the OCing)Quote:

I don't think the Conroe's will go down very much in that time.
Besides, to me a Conroe is overkill.
The question I should be asking is what is the best CPU cooler nowadays?
Thermaright Ultra-120
Better than the Scythe and Tuniq Tower?Quote:

You need to buy a extra fan for it.
Better than Scythe for sure, better than the Tuniq??? At least same performance.
Scythe Ninja is 3-5 degrees hotter than Ultra-120 and Infinity 2 degrees hotter than the Ultra-120.
You can buy both at www.bigfottcomputers.com
Ultra 120 is 745g heatsink only.
Inifity is 960 with the fan.
I tried both and I prefer the Ultra-120 wich is the one I use at the moment.
If you wondered, I can confirm that Zalman 9700 is unbelievably quiet. I stopped the fan and I couldnt actually hear the difference. It's currenty cooling my CPU 3-4C cooler at idle and it never broke 40C when playing Battlefield 2 whereas it was upto 48 with the GB.
I don't really care about weight or noise, I just want the best cooler.
What fan is good for the Ultra-120 and how would one go about mounting one on it?
get a Delta then
What about the Coolermaster Hyper TX.
Here's a review of the AMD version:
http://www.3dgameman.com/content/view/4443/36/
It cools very good, if you believe that review, better dan a TR ultra-120!!
http://www.dragonsteelmods.com/index...=536&Itemid=38 (better then SI-128!!)
And it's very cheap(in holland at least) it's only 20 euros.
And another review:
http://www.bigbruin.com/2006/hypertx_1
It's a very good cooler, and very quiet!
Maybe add to the roundup?
I have this CPU cooler : http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/produc...6/cl-p0086.asp
Tt-Beetle
and I cannot install it on my GA-965P-DS3 :(
could you pls give me a hints for install this :banana::banana::banana:ing big fan ?
Some tests seem to indicate that the thermalright ultra120 might not be ideal for overclocking (this includes my personal experience as well), since it's outstanding cooling abilities seem to drop when the heatoutput of the cpu increases over a certain point...
At stock speeds and moderate OC'ing it is the best on the market atm, but for serious oc'ers it seems the tuniq tower is still the king.
Check out the review at madschrimps
Where can you buy the Tuniq?

Nowhere, ben out of stock for months in America, and apparently(from another thread) they are redesigning it do to soem qaulity control issue, so basically unles you luck out and find one on ebay you are not gona find one. However the typhon, the scythe, and zalmen all work almost as well and are in large supply everywherer so thats all up to you.
And the Ultra-120 may work as well.
Not sure yet.
Andrew
Personally I would go for the Tuniq if it were available.
Since it isn't in the States, I would recommend the Scythe Infinity.
You can always add a second 120mm fan to create a push/pull arrangement to increase the effectiveness.
i would NOT have this comment in the first post unless someone can show me and overclock with X6800 with 1.65vcore@4GHz bringing this p.o.s. to it's knees...i reckon TTBT,Tuniq,Inifinity will outperform it on extreme overclocks easily

Titan Amanda (TEC air cooler) Puts conventional air coolers to shame, probably competes with good watercooling.
Hey i think the perfect addition to this thread would be a guide to heatsink lapping;).
Does the Thermaltake Big Typhoon refer to the VX version?
I know its much better.
Anyhow - Excellent work.
The TTBT VX will run you $54 plus shipping/tax.
The regular TTBT you can find for $39, but when you buy a higher cfm 120mm fan for $15 then the price is a wash.
So get the TTBT VX (frozencpu, etc.) as it is so much easier to install than the old screw system TTBT.

It works pretty good for a "p.o.s" I never understood why there is so much hate for T.E.C's around here. Lot's of people keep going on about how badly designed this cooler is or whatever. If it's such a bad cooler why does in work so well? I'm sure it does have a thermal limit somewhere, but it still seems to work very well.
