They won't really charge 300USD$ for that 965 when the 975 is going to be over 60 dollars cheaper right?? When the bad axe has conroe support..what's the point of getting the more expensive one?? Are there any comparisons? I mean, the bad axe obviously has had good OC results..am I missing something?

Actually from looking at the board the 1st and bottom PCI slot should be useable even with Crossfire.

Kentsfield is Q1 07, G80 is this summer, I see a closer relationship between R600 and Kentsfield releease dates (which is either before christmas or alongside the launch of DX10 and Vista)

What advantages does the Deluxe have over the norm for me?:

A second PCIe x16 (electricaly x4 or x2): Good for ATI GPU-as-PPU. :banana:
2 more SATA port: No need :confused:
1 more LAN port: No need :confused:
WiFi: No need :confused:
Directional mic: EXCELLENT! JUST WHAT I NEED! :woot:
A black PCB: They yellow one is ugly. :nono:

I'll have to see their prices. Right now I'm leaning towards the Deluxe, but if it's way overpriced, then I'll go with the regular. I just got my first clear-sided case. I don't want to see an ugly yellow PCB. I also like the Deluxe layout better. I have a sound card, and plan to get a PhysX card when they drop in price, and the non-Deluxe would place all my stuff in one clump.

the P5B Dlx costs about 30€ more than the non Dlx here in Germany. in fact, it is at 180€ which is as expensive as the P5WD2-E... and only 20€ cheaper than the P5W-DH ;)

so I suppose that most people will buy 975X in Germany, due to the fact that 965 isn't faster at all...

The P5B says it has 4 from ICH8R, and 2 from some other chip. The two from the other chip are 1 internal and 1 external. I'm guessing the one internal is the one lone port on the yonder end of the expansion slots. So the P5WD2-E will support Conroe, eh? Well there's no sense in buying the new mobo without the new CPU, so I guess I'll just wait and see. The P5WD2-E's layout is a real mess, though.

I just wish NVIDIA would let Intel make an ultimate dual x16 board that supported Crossfire and SLI and ICH8R. But why would they? Who would buy an nForce then?

And why not? How else is a jerk who doesn't care about money gonna get a system with an X6800 and Quad-SLI at the same time? People will buy nForce Intel Editions because they will be the only way to get the ultimate machine, spec-wise. I loved my nForce 4 when I had it. Of course that was an AMD one, but still.

I might wait for an RD600. I doubt they'll be out by Conroe, but if you're looking for Crossfire, I think it'll blow away the 975Xs. Still no word of a 975X replacer AT ALL, and it's nearly a year old! I hope Bearlake will have an X edition.

look at that. Coolaler and some other OC'er had a Overclocking party with DFI, a XE6800, and a nForce 590 SLI. they only achieved a FSB of 272 mhz...

sounds like nForce 4 IE again :( let us all hope they only hadn't enough time to concentrate on FSB and fine-tuning ;)

OHHHHHH. Yeah, ASUS's website says you can bring their P5B from 100MHz to 400MHz in 1MH increments. And I suspect the RD600 will allow much higher speeds than that.

OMG, a theoreticxaly 400x16 = 6.4GHz!!
Not that anything will allow it to get that high, except liquid nitro. I'm gonna make a liquid nitro cooling kit.

I have a quetion / concern ...

We all see that there is only 1 IDE port on the Deluxe ver (see below, red). If that IDE is on a seperate controller how is one supposted to boot into Windows with only IDE based Roms drives, this assuming you can't boot off the controller, with no drivers ? I personlly just went out and bought 2 plextor SATA dvd-rs to make sure im good, but other people could have a pretty serious problem ?

Hey all,

Got another question (seems this is the only place that some people know more than i do :)). anyway .. was wondering if the P5B Deluxe supports EEP (Enhanced Performance Profiles). I know this was started with the new AM2 nforce boards, just wondering if Intel picked it up in time for 965 chipset.

Reason I ask is becuase I was planning on using Corsair Twin2 2GB PC2 6400 C4 (with EEP) and was hoping that EEP might help just that little bit more.

edit .. not sure if 'help' is the right word, but u get the idea... i hope

I'm beginning to wonder that to. Is this up to the chipset or the manufacturer? Will EPP be strictly for nForce, or will we see it with RD600 and newer Intels?

who care about EPP ? you can set the timing by yourself.. Your in XS forum, not some newbie computer guy, are you ? :p:

all that EPP offer is different combo of SPD/speed settings. You can manually set them by yourself, it's the fun of tweaking !
