Eva2000 : Max FSB with Q6600 ???
Can I use my Maximizer with this mobo? :shrug: I not found coils around the memory slots!:(
Max FSB with XE3220 on y P5K : 505MHz.
I found my cpuz issue : I had to upgrade BIOS to 0304 (0202 doesn't work too)
on the first page of this post
Nice Review eva2000! :)
Not sure this is a massive improvement over the P5B-Deluxe though, guess its horses for courses. I think I will sit this one out and see what mobos are out this fall.
Keep up the good work!
then go for it but i haven't tested 4x1GB on P5K Deluxe though
Q6600 @3600Mhz at 1.475v bios
idle = 1.4640v
load = 1.4560v
same as my E6600 = 0.08v droop with CPU Volt damper enabled.
Probably more droop as you increase vcore ?
with my Q6600 B3 ES so far 485FSB for super pi 32M single/dual instances... haven't checked further yet
no idea might need to ask hipro ;)
ah i upgraded to 0304 straight before i started from 0123 bios.
quad core definitely massive improvement! P5B Deluxe for me 400FSB max stock, pencil droop mod = 412-425FSB max.
P5K Deluxe 470FSB easy and 480-485FSB with voltage adjustments listed in this thread :)
Hi!
I should be getting a P5K deluxe tomorrow for my brother's PC and would like some help....
1: What bios should I use and where to get them from?
2: Can someone list the basic bios setup for a mild overclock?
3: Any special settings to watch out for?
Thanks!
1. 0304 bios first post of this thread hyperlinked 0304 bios text ;)
2. re-read this entire thread and bookmark it ;)
3. see #2 :)
Testing Corsair TwinX-2048 10000C5DF Dominators right now on Asus P5K Deluxe and these modules are crazy.. I have never experienced 534Mhz 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v vdimm before! :eek:

More tests to come later :D
Very good work Eva. But I must confess that if this board is that good . I can't wait for the x38 it should be something really special.
On the DDR3 compare to ddr2 . AT did a test and it shows about a 2-5% increase in performance over ddr2 running at same speeds. By the time penryn is out i suspect corsair well have some DDR3 1600 chips for us . so I see 10% improvements just for the x38 M/B add another 10-20% increase for Penryn at same clock as conroe and this is really shaping up to be something exciting. I know I will be flamed for this . But I am only going by the info thats available. I do confess to the fact that I am going to the highest end of the improvements over x975 and conroe for the x38 and penryn but 30% improvement at same clock is looking doable.
Not really. DDR3 doesn't have any advantages right now over DDR2, and that 2-5% that you saw was against the P965 mobo. However, if you pay attention to the exact system specs, you'll notice that on the P965 mobo they were runing an E6700 2.66GHz (266x10) and not an E6420 @2.66GHz (333x8) as on the P35 boards. That's where those 2-5% are coming from. ;)
Thanks EVGA:D
I'm not being lazy or anything, I just wanted a heads up on any new or important options that a new user might overlook!:confused:
Finally got to exchange my board for a brand new one. I won't be flashing anything in windows anymore, that's for sure!
I'm eager to try out the max FSB on my 4X1gigs of Crucial Ballistix 1000 and Core 2 Duo E6420 tonight!
One question regarding the non-deluxe P5K... I see the product spec for the southbridge only has ICH9 (no R). Does that mean that board does not support RAID on the Intel Matrix controller?
Other differences spec-wise I've noticed that's different from the deluxe: 4 internal sata vs 6 internal sata, Realtek HD sound vs ADI HD sound chip, and single Realtek 8110sc gigalan PCI controller vs BOTH Realtek 8110sc PCI and much better Marvell PCI-e gigalan.
No idea on differences for P5K non-deluxe heh.
Time for some suicide runs for my Q6600 on Asus P5K Deluxe since overnight room temps dropped a nice 6C so I thought I'd go for broke :D
At high FSB we have Q6600 @3907Mhz - 8x488FSB :)
http://fileshosts.com/intel/Asus/P5K..._validated.png
Had a faster run of 11.235 seconds but didn't take screenie - went to i4memory.com hwbot team though :)
http://fileshosts.com/intel/Asus/P5K...m_11265_tn.png
At default 9x multiplier we have Q6600 @9x443FSB via setFSB :cool:

Now this I consider fast considering Kentsfield quad core B3 stepping is slower than core2 duo B2 stepping for Super Pi!

Did get a cpuz screen at 4037Mhz at 1.592v but didn't save properly heh.
nice shot airs :D
ofcourse it does!
your just looking for the wrong component ;)
here you go, this is the upper right part of the asus

anyone know if the P5K-E and P5K-Deluxe share the same bios? The asus site is giving me the sheets...
Trying to work out if the P5K-E is a worthwhile alternative to the Deluxe - I don't need the extra features, the only thing I care about is the Quadcore overclocking... and is it the same beast as the P5K-Deluxe?
is this board better than the asus striker and does anyone have OC on air cooling for the quad on this mobo?
@Eva2000 : nice clock with q6600...can u push up higher fsb..:confused:
