Yonah who? Conroe baby!
way to go cant wait for it to come out
Great results!!!
Just one thing. What is the max freq you can run Conroe passive on air? Because Conroe is so strong clock for clock my next rig should be a silent one.
Reminds me about Kurt Kobain's phrase... "I want to kill myself and I want to die". Come on, I can't believe that three months ago I spent my money in a system (X2 + A8N-E Deluxe + OCZ Gold XTC ddr500) that in a couple of weeks will become obsolete.
what obsolete, its nice for 3D mark, but irl for games it will not matter unless you have SLI or CF
look at 3 ghz intel P4 being equal in Oblivion at FX-60
on normal resolutions, not 800*600 or something stupid like that
FALSO....... There are plenty of games that use CPU power.... MSFS is one of them change the GPU and not FPS increase. Change the CPU and all kinds of changes. Same happened with HL2, Far Cry, and others. Thats my personal experience. I have not played Oblivion yet...

I thought e6400 was only 2mb cache :/
wow, that overclock really is something. Stock Vcore on air as well.
@Lawry: Yes it is, but I believe this is an ES chip which has 4mb?
I also find that a tad depressing that these core 2 duo's will eventually land up in midrange dell pc's and they'd be pulling better Pi's than the more expensive A64 chips.
Very impressed. Good work
Mul
I think only ES have 4MB L2 @ 2.16GhzQuote:

Thanks Coolaler for this great benchmarks. You are rally pretty consistent. GREAT THREAD!:woot: :woot:
I remember seeing in two places that the temps are around 60+ deg. Celsius.
But I don't remember any one confirming this data, is it really that HOT on stock vcore. :stick:
I know this is my first couple of posts on this forum but this is pretty interesting and I believe a lot of people would like to know if this is just a mbo faulty readout or true fact:confused:

If ONLY ES 6400 have 4MB and stock 2MB L2 - this tests are useless :D isn't it ?Quote:

What kind of loaded temps were you seeing? Also is it indeed passively cooled? Thanks
Just to reiterate... that is NOT a passive cooler, there's a 120mm fan sandwiched inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Quote:

Wow, I just caught up to date on this thread... 3.2ghz on normal air cooling  ! Holy ****ing ****!!!! Taking the IPC into account, it would be over 66% faster than my X2 3800+ @ 2.5ghz/core  ! I thought my rig was blazing, Intel's really laid down a WHOPPER! Thanks a lot Coolaler for your efforts to show us all this!

Coolaler you should send us work to do so we can do your job and everything, you gotta keep at that overclocking all day LOL
well.. he didnt post something a day or so :p: , so i think he is going to mount something on the cpu :D
here's a pic of the Tuniq showing the fan...
pretty nice cooler.
looks great cause you can direct the flow of air toward your exhaust fans, unfortunately you trade that for no flow on your pwm area
anyone here think coolaler is playin with some pins or soldering gun for voltage, hence the hiatus on results?
Awesome results, I've been waiting for a day and a half to get registered. Cant imagine what he would get if he could up the voltage! :D June/July cant get here any quicker, I cant wait for more results and to see what this puppy can really do. Btw whats pwm mean vulgar, power supply?
pulse width modulation, or, power management, voltage regulators/mosfets
I got that cooler for my Yonah before I got the cpu. I seen TJ all had them so I figured they were the best for Intel. They do cool great.Quote:

It's gonna be a real party when you can change the volts!
ooooooooooooooooooooh, looks like fun. but unfortunately your record has been beaten over in this thread, with a merom T7400. 15.468 seconds at 3.27ghz.
time to increase that voltage and get that thing to 3.6ghz? ;)
cold bug when lower -90 degree
so what can you do so far as increased voltage? will dry ice allow it to boot?
amazing, you guys need to slow down w/ all this merom/conroe action, too much to read, lol
3dmark06 CPU score at 3.0Ghz will be nice...
Just a quick question for you coolaler. Shouldn't you have the memory sticks in the same color slot for dual channel?
You mean http://www.coolaler.net/conroe/LN2/LN2_8.gif coolaler?
edit: nevermind, looks like you fixed it already ^^
coolaler, can you rub your fingers and get an extra .1v or 2??? :D
or rub your socks on the carpet??? lol damn nice results(who's got that chart w/ clock/sp1m ratio?)
Awesome for stock volts even with LN2. Your doing a great job of showing us the scale on stock volts.
I suppose what is scariest is the fact that coolaler hasn't even reached the stock clocks for the XE yet.
scarier than that, Ln2 on stock voltage dosn't get it, what's XE gonna do on Ln2? can't wait to see how they scale with voltageQuote:

Very nice bus speed, 409 is unreal.
Looks very promising.
That board has NB voltage adjustments? you must be over 1.65v??
You're squeezing it for all it's got at those voltages, looking forward to high and higher clocks :D.
Are those voltage accurate?
Ok this is my last time posting that I think we should get some sandra results lol, sorry...but I really think it'd be interesting with 3.2ghz in comparison to the intel XE and fx-60 just becuase it'd be so high in numbers. Again, awesome results so far.
Wow is about all I can say. and cold bug @ -90C... Hmm okay... Interesting.
did u close explorer when u ran superpi, that always gets me a lower time
yes,I ran pi in realtime & close explorer :DQuote:

also think of coldbug in amd (maybe it wont be the same) but fsb doesnt go up if it is cold so maybe you wont be able to increase it a lot.
u right about waste:DQuote:

are you going to increase the vcore soon or do you have a lot of headroom? A 1.6 GHz FSB is amazing. Are you going to try water being that it's more 'stable' then LN2 and are you going to push it further?
-90 on core [from motherboard ] ? or @ -90 ln2 pot
-90 is a good number u can play with single stage - dry ice - cascade .
Very Nice results but vcore definetly hold u back
Hmmm Cold Bug you say.
Second stepping shall be interesting to see If its still there. Or a retail product and not ES.
Coolaler How is MSI sofar for INTEL ? Do u think its a match for Asus or Abit ? :)
ASUS @ 6/5 issue 965chip+ich8,Andre got it!how's going on?ask to Andre:DQuote:

Amazing work Coolaler.. thanks for all the tests.
Ps love the dog
according to fugger, the cold bug is only when you turn it on... after that there was no coldbug :D
Awesome results Conroe is definately looking very tasty.
hehe!but when i ran spi@-90 degreeQuote:

coolaler:
Do you think it would be possible later to run the Sandra CPU Arithmetic test (2007) version.
It would be interesting to see what Conroe produces at 2.8GHz compared to my X2 4400 (20019 / 16920) at 2.76GHz.

Incredible results Coolaler :woot:
And to think if you had a better motherboard what kind of clocks you would get
I'm glad I don't have a girlfriend right now, because come conroe time I'd imagine she'd be complaining about going out to eat now meaning top ramen in the car.

Coolaler maybe change your nick into "The Mailman".
It's the nick from Malone, is/was a basketplayer in the NBA. He got that name because he always deliver. Just like you, you bench so many and if you someone ask for something you deliver.

I think we're going to have to re-evaluate many benchmarks as Conroe is just smashing them... sandra multimedia, pi 1m, 3d 01
Check this out http://www.overclockers.ru/hardnews/22210.shtml :slobber:
FSB increment by 53% :woot:
Will it be possible with XE? 333 + 53% =~5GHz
I've been afraid to look at the Intel section for a few weeks now. This morning I finally looked inside and sure enough saw what I was looking to avoid. :slobber: We're still months away from us getting these in our hands and I'm already looking at the calendar. Looking back at the benches, looking at the calendar, looking back at the benches, looking at the calendar, looking back at the benches, looking at the calendar, looking back at the benches, looking at the calendar, looking back at the benches, looking at the calendar, looking back at the benches, looking at the calendar, looking back at the benches .... :hitself:
Wake me up in a few months.
Imagine what could do OCers from Russia and Taiwan if they work together.. Everyone knows that russian guys OC processors by changing multiplyers so if they take conroe, put there 14x multi and OC to FSB400? 5.6GHz? :slobber:

Thanks a lot coolaler :toast:

any pics can show the differences between PCB1.* and PCB 2.*A?
This is amazing, it keeps getting better and better, 15s was just broken!
The latest data.
So it look slike we can expect 15s SuperPi_1M scores for the Core 2 Extreme, stock!
Cheers!
iterations
nice!
me likes it
BUT merom is NOT as fast as conroe due to low fsb ;) so you should call your table somehow different and if you used merom results it may affect the "result"
At stock speeds Merom may be slower than Conroe due to FSB differences, but the Merom data fits perfectly on the regression line for the Conroe data, so under these overclocked conditions they seem to have very close performance parity.
Of course if Conroe data shows up that is significantly different at similar clock speeds, I will update the data.
7sec 1M @ 4.3Ghz? can only dream :)
Keep up the amazing results coolaler!!! :D
i've asked earlier, but no response....
the merom is runnin 150+ lower on the fsb, yet, at the same overall clock, they seam to run on par
so, is fsb being minimized as far as it's importance on overall performance? same with ram? coolaler is running much tighter timings on his ram, obviously due to him only having 2x512, but amount of ram dosn't really affect sp1m..., is overall performance not being as affected by timings now too?
most a64 builders noticed that overall performance isn't impacted much by ram speed(untill you get to 2800mhz+), although i have limited knowledge on how much fsb impacts overall performance, as most are limited by multiplier....
The design goals for Core included minimizing the effects of FSB as much as possible, through larger L2, and improved prefetch logic. It looks like the prefetch logic is working quite well for this workload, so the CPU is able to continue doing useful work without waiting for data.
Thanks coolaler for this amazing post.
Can wait for conroe :d
->iterations I love your graph dude, a great touch, thanx :toast:

very nice stuff!! :)
omfg thats so fast. I got to get me one in a few months. Current computer is a p4 2.0ghz :( :( :( :( I also cant wait for vista, im sick of this xp s    its like i wipe my computer then install windows, sp2, antivirus, scaners, firewall, dx9, drivers, all my games, ect. then in a month i got to do it all over because it lags like hell and i got so many viruses, i spend 4 or 5 hours a week keeping my computer runing, such a pain in the a:banana:  .I think im gona buy a external hd to ghost onto.
What are you doing to get all these virusii? I run the free Avast, free MS Defender (formerly Giant's antivirus product) and have basically zero problems. I have had one virus/trojan make it onto my system (in the past 5+ years - maybe ever) and it was picked up immediately and removed without a problem. Also I recently started using Ewido Anti-malware to scan every month or so.
You must be visiting a darker side of the internet than I... heh
Edit: I'm also behind a generic Linksys router and the XP pro firewall
Updated with latest data and forward predictive regression curve:
Looks like 12s is in the realm of possibility once these chips are released with higher multipliers. Woohoo!!!
