I'm still in Sneaky.
Is there some way this is related to the intel bad axe motherboard?Quote:

that's fine. If this Thread is only for comments from people who don't own the Board in relation to the bulk buy, then sorry for posting here (if that's the case). But seriously, the comment, "Is there some way this is related to the intel bad axe motherboard?" was totally off base.
I just saw this. I'd also be interested in buying one, if possible. YHEM.
I found a place to order from that can guarantee revision 304.
I will provide the details later once I have my tracking number.
In US? If it's true, that will be great. :)Quote:

Newegg is out of stock again, would be very tempting if they get new stock
They have package deal with a ATI x1900xt for $100 off, $379 with a $30 dollar rebate.
It's in stock now.Quote:

sorry but im new to the whole intel thing so i had to ask.
if anyone in the US wants one of these, I found a way
goto http://www.frys.com/ and click FAQs
there will be a number for the sunnyville store in CA
call them and do a phone order
they will ship it to you
I spoke to a woman named Shula
$279.99 plus shipping
no tax unless you live in CA
little pricey... LOL
yeah really wish the group order at $190 would have worked outQuote:

if they are i'll buy now and run a 930 till conroe hits.
it has decent overclocking abilities, but it's strong points are stability and availabiltyQuote:

all depends on what you want
I wanted a very solid, stable board that would allow me to get a decent overclock out of my CPU. I wanted it now so I could put the rest of my system together with a Pentium D and when Conroe comes out, I'm ready to go, just drop it on. So this board was just right for me. Just wish I could have found it cheaper, but that's the price you pay for being one of the first to get it.
ah perfect. Thats exactly what i want, decent overclock and stability and i need it now.
thanx for the quick reply.
Any timeframe on the order Sneaky?
i haven't even found out if the NY or NJ warehouses have 304's yet...
Yeah with newegg, you can return it for your money back within 30 days with no questions asked.Quote:

Maybe I'm just talking out of my ass. It's been a while. :P
It appears that JNCS.com has the board for $248. They advertise that
it supports core-duo2 when it is released.

Does anyone know if newegg has 304 in stock now?
Got mine at fry's (CA) they let me open the box :) & I looked for the 304
you dont need to open it - just look on the package barcode/product code - last 3 digits state 302, 303, or 304
Hello everyone. My first post here. It's a nice board. I have one myself and filled it to capacity performance wise and can't even get OS loaded! I've tried everything including throwing the kitchen sink at it, but it lock completely up whilst installing devices @ 35mins. I'm not happy at all. I placed a Pentium D 960 3.6ghz it. A fair bit of reading in here does not reveal this issue. Strangely, it loads windows with an incompatable 3.2ghz Celeron? All componants are of very high grade and tested as not being at fault. System is running stock standard except for a recent bios update to attempt to resolve the problem. My new comp is a dud it would seem :-( Intel site says it is compatable with the 3.6ghz Pentium D. Grrr! It's now sitting in the shop under warrenty, but they don't even know whats wrong. So what do they send back? Here it is anyway... in all it's brand new broken glory...
- Intel BOXD975XBXLKR mobo
- Intel Pentium D 960, 3.6ghz
- Zalman CNPS9500 LED Copper Flower Heatsink
- 2 matched pairs of Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400 800mhz
- 2 400gb Western Digital Caviar SATA2 16mb cache Hd's in raid0
- BFG 7900 GTX OC 512mb Graphics Card
- Thermaltake 680w W0049 Purepower PSU
- 2 Sony DVD-RAM DRU-820A Drives
- Whatever Floppy Drive
- Thermaltake Kandalf aluminium case
- LG 1980Q 19" High Definition LCD Monitor
- LG L1750SQ LCD Monitor
- MS Laser 6000 Keyboard/Mouse
- Yamaha Digital Audio
Thanks Intel for nothing!
Well, if it works perfect with another CPU then the most likely culprit would be the 3.6 CPU. Does that Pentium D 960 work perfect in another board?
i am totally down for buying one of these boards... is the deal still good? It looks like i have to wait for 9 other people to want one?
I'll have one if they work and can get a conroe for it

So whats the status of this?
Here in india i cant find a single board thats gona support the conroe, not even 975XBX rev 304 and when i talked with local distries its not gona be here for atleast 1 more month.
I am building a system now and no mobo for the same( the one that will support conroe). must have 2 rigs up and running withing next 10-15 days and was planning 1 to be intel with conroe upgrade option for future.
grrrr, sucks.... :(
if it's still open i'd be interested
I have teamed up with Hassan here on XtremeSystems to *FINALLY* provide you all with revision 304 D975XBX motherboards - here is the new official pre-order thread:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=101693
*there is a TWO-WEEK DELAY ON THESE BOARDS FROM INTEL*
that is a great priceQuote:

I assume these do not support SLI... being intel chipset boards?
Me neitherQuote:

Thanks Mr. Beast, what an awesome system you have. It's strange a bios should be submitted to the public as broken? Mine now has the most recent as of a few days after it's release. Not tested on it yet. Yes, I had updates the bios from factory standard to the second last and most recent releases. Everything booted fine. It's just loading the OS and the freezing up whilst windows is installing devices (could be power issues as stated below.) So Thats 3 bios versions that had no bearing on this situation. Cpu is being sent back as being suspect..... See what happens. I suspect the following that has to do with not having enough ampereage from the psu though a 1x4 to 2x2 connector adaptor as the cpu works in another less powerful board:-Quote:

My BadAxe from NewEgg arrived today, shipped May 31. It is rev 302. :(
That sucks man ... :( I was just thinking to order one too after going to local Fry's today , spent 2 hours driving in heavy traffic  , and they had only 302 , asked them when they may get 304 and they said may be nex month lol  :stick: "Cause not many people buy those ... " and the same guy told me that lots of people been asking for 304 this week . Of course nobody buys those old 302 rev , why not get some new 304's and get some huge sails ?! :stick: Why it such a big deal to get that damn rev.304 in U.S. ?!Quote:

But there are lots of people that don't need 304 , they don't care if it's 302 or 304 . So why not order some 304's in first place for all those people that been asking about that rev recently and sell those few 302's that are left to costumers that don't care much about revision ? I thought it's better to sell something :fact: than nothing :slapass: :DQuote:

Well, my local Fry's has the rev 304, but it's $50 more than at Newegg, so I thought I'd take a chance. Most of the people that will buy these boards now are the same ones that bought them before, for Pentiums.
Yep it does... The board is a revision 302 and hopefully a retail revision 304 will fix the issue? It is possible that the new p- D 3.6ghx is not compatable with rev. 302. Obviously, Intel would have tested the new processor in rev 304, but it's only a possibility. All I know is P - D 960 has trouble in rev 302???????????Quote:

As the CPU works in another board, we have eliminated that as well. It may be likely the board will get hoyked and a revision 304 installed and the same CPU out back in. It could be (this is another final stab in the dark) a compatability issue with rev. 302 mobo and the Pentium D 960 3.6ghz processor............ I see in here there is a two week wait for rev 304:eek: Lucky I have this (another) pc still  ...one day he's legs and arms will drop off...Quote:

UK people can find the guarranteed rev 304 here.
At £155 + £7.50 P+P it aint cheap, but two have been bought since refreshing the page! Current stock 16.

They also have $16 minimum shipping rate. I won't do that, at least not in combination with an inflated base price.Quote:

Great site... this is my first post. I tired to post on Saturday.. just got my access today :woot:
I picked mine up at Micro Center last week they are only $219.00 thats the normal price..
After reading a few things here I decided to build a new system to test out Visa... I went to micro Center and pick up these items last week.
D979xbx r304
D930
4.0GB - DDR2-800 PC2-6400 Memory Module
73GB 10K WD HD
ATI Radeon X1800 XT 512MB PCI-E Cross Fire Edition
Plextor PX-755SA DVD
Seasonic S12 600W PS
Zalman CNPS9500LED
3D Aurora ATX Computer Case
it all togther and running. now I need to tweak this a bit dont want to go to water cooling as of yet so just air cooled mods.
Suggestions are welcome. What is the normal temp for the D930? I looked around and got confilicting info.
so far the only issuse has been the sonic built in software for the sound it not working.
thanks for all the great info
Dennis
Buying hardware is a good way to test out your Visa  :p:Quote:
