Priming for one hour is nothing. Remember, you test for stability to BE SAFE. First test prime to make sure it's stable, then after that run games. So run prime or stress prime for at least 8hrs, first small ffts, the larke ffts.

starts to get flakey around 270 HTT.
CAS 2.5 does not work at 250 HTT.
For the money, I am very happy with the performance of these sticks...get them while they are $185...
mucker
what si ur volt settings ?
I edited my last post to include voltages. I didn't bother with 2.6 volts but may try it some day. From past experiences, additional voltage really helps stability, and I'm not worried at all about a 0.1v increase.....
I think the new PC3200 OCZ GX XTC uses the same chips as this...
Check this thread out -

Price: $249.99 - $30 Mail-in Rebate ($30 Off) = $219.99.

Wow only 185 at the egg like mucker said... so tempting, it might be time for me to jump on the 2GB band wagon. :p:
now i am stable 100% with settings 240x10
DDR480 2.5-3-2-7 @ 2.7vdimm

Vdimm 2.7 also :D
NewEgg will back to stock in this few days :)
i will try to ship it out ASAP
My sticks:

Memory is out of stock and it's $225 again.
not a good value when for 8 bucks more, you can get the pc4000 version.
PC4000 @ 3-4-3 while this can do PC4000 @ 3-3-2
The memory is rated 3-4-3, that doesn't mean it can't do lower.
what 3-4-3
I think he's talking about HZ which is 3-4-4-8 not 3-4-3-?.
it rated @ 3-4-4-8Quote:

and yes i was talking about HS so it is 3-4-4-
and form what i have seen no PC4000 rated 1GB moudle could do DDR400 @ CAS2
2.8v if it was me you were asking. Not sure :stick:
Nice sticks Tibu :) . I tried your settings, it will boot, but not into memtest. I am unsure of your settings simply because I cannot see some of them, more specifically these settings:
Write CAS latency: ?
Skew Control: ?
Skew value: ?
DRAM Drive strength: ?
DRAM DATA Drive strength: ?
DRAM response time: ?
Could you provide that info please? Thank you!
m :)
Write CAS latency: Dunno, 704-2bta bios doesn't have that setting
Skew Control: AUTO
Skew value: 0
DRAM Drive strength: NORMAL 4 (me thinks its 8 value on non 704-2bta bios)
DRAM DATA Drive strength: 1
DRAM response time: FAST
Hope it helps.
Nice work
That helps alot, I'll give it a shot. I am using 623-3 offiicial and orange slots. Are you orange or yellow?Quote:

I've tried:
- changing volts from 2.6 to 2.9
- changing cas to 2.5 and 3
- tried all the timings that the users have posted, including GS tech's
- tried changing dram strength
- tried 3-3-3-8
Nothing works. Am I just unlucky? They do stock just fine, just not much more than that.

hey guys, pick a number between 0~99, i will pick a SN end with that number and test for DDR500 3-3-3-5 to see it works or not. just receive some shipment!
I'll pick a # and you send me the ones with that # at the end to test for you. :P

lucky 69..... :)
If they are good clockers, you can send them to me. Considering I ordered a set of HX sticks and Newegg screwed up my order and sent me DDR2 sticks instead. So while those are going back I expect a refund soon anyway... Been considering getting the ZX sticks instead but if people aren't seeing good clocks with them I don't want to gamble...
hahahaha :)
man i really can not do that! i only can test and ship to NewEgg! others.... i am sorry
take me some time to post, now is 32M loop 12
sorry if the pics are too big. it is hard for me to edit with MS built in paint program..
Yeah dude, paint isn't good :s
BTW nice review, i hope this thread will help me choosing a 2GB kit for my rig.

Very impressive test. My sticks are that easy too, some of the most flexible I've ever owned...

Are these sticks optimized for DFI NF4 boards?
using them here on DFI Nf4 LP Ultra-D with no problemz
Me too. Even though using value ram, which these are, on a DFI NF4 is a sin, these are working out pretty good.
Big difference between "cheap" ram and "value" ram. I would never put cheap ram on my DFI, but these G.Skill's are high quality and quite a "value" ;) Who labeled these "value" ram by the way? Linky please?Quote:

The set i have seem to be pretty decent, however im currently using an epox 9nda3+ mobo. I was just wondering if it is possible that this board could be holding them back compared to what a dfi mobo could do?
These sticks love cas 2.5. I think everyone should try it as you might be surprised. However I'm wondering if being to run cas 2.5 at say 250fsb is more dependant on the memory controller or possibly the stick themselves.
Could be controller specific, I couldn't do 2.5 with my Opteron at an acceptable frequency. I believe the cpu is strong, my ZX just weaker at 2.5.
I have confirmed that a San Diego core running 2750 MHz @ 2.5-3-3-8 @ DDR500 benches almost identically to a Venus core running 2850 MHz @ 3-3-2-5 @ DDR520. In my case, I can't run 2.5 on my GSkills at 275x(9/10) so there is no point in attempting it anymore. 2850 @ 3 will simply beat any 2.5 speed I am capable of running...
m :)
Received my 2GB ZX from Newegg yesterday. Running at DDR500 at 3-6-3-3 at 2.65V on Abit IC7-G with CPU 2.8C at 3.5.
 These sticks are amazing.
I'm waiting for the sale they had a week ago.
Folks I had to come back to this thread to rescind my eartlier post and apologize for my frustration. I researched and changed some settings and have been testing at 240 1/1 for the past day. Ceratinly a great deal for the $$, glad that I waited on ordering some diff brand sticks!
No, your sticks love cas 2.5, not all of them.Quote:

Not bad for value sticks! I'll be trying cas3 tonight. :)
These sticks could probably go higher if I had a DFI board, but I don't...
Bah I hate you people, my sticks can't even come close to your results :(
I think I'll cry for a bit.. *sob sob*
I just got 2 sets of zx last night. Threw them in and without tweaking was able to get both sets, one set at a time, to do about 262-263. Will start tweaking to see just how far they will go.

Hi,
I have received my set of 2gb GBZX yesterday .
After some test , I pass memtest86+ v.1.65 ( with dfi nf4 expert) @ 250 3-3-2-5 (GS technician timing in first post) ~ 2.9v (2.92 under bios - 2.87 under smartguardian) standart test during 7h00 + , but when I run windows memtest (memtest under windows) during the first minute I got error ( I put 2 instances of 915 mo as the software seems not to be able of running more in one instance ), so my question is , could it be due to my memory controler ? I have tried all voltage from 2.6v to 2.9v but nothing help under windows , now trying 2.66v under memtest86+ , will see...) .
Don't know if I need to change the ram setting , if so , what way should I try to catch more stability under windows ?
Any input is welcome, thanks.
Ah heres the right post I was trying to post in hehe.
Well I got some of these modules coming today. God love FedEx express saver and newegg, 2 day delivery always hehe. I was originally going to get these before everyone started saying the ballistix is the best. Ya best chance at failing in the board with rated speeds and voltages, let alone burning hot.
Looking forward to seeing what these can do when I get them, and thanks for the review, basically got me saying, where do I buy these hehe, like I should of done in the first place.
are you using 915 mobo? i am not sure if the setting on 915 mobo should be same or not! let me know more~ thx
has anybody else done 255 at cas 2.5 like Tibu??? from what i've seen 265/270 is max oc at cas 3...

I'm talking about this memtest :
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/1...memtest3tk.png
Now the ram have succeed 2 full standart pass in memtest86+ ~ 3h00 @ 250 (3-3-2-5) with only 2.66v (bios setting).
Need I to increase the nf4 volt or ldt voltage ?
yes i might need to using two memtest to test but make sure not over the "phyical memory not use value" on task manager. :)
also, if you only needs 2.66v to work it, that will be great! i used 2.9v only for 273FSB but i remember i used lower such as 2.7v to run around 250FSB :)
if any question let me know

Ya they are in stock ordered mine on Wednesday and there still up there.
Yeah, they were out of stock when I checked earlier today with ETA of 12/9. I'm still waiting on a refund from Newegg for the mess up they made with my order. I hope it stays in stock.
That looks about where my sticks are headed... I guess we got sticks from the same batch over newegg's BF. :pQuote:

3d05 succeed @ 255 too (2.73v) but failled @ 260 (even with 2.92v) , I probably hit the wall there.
I will continue my test ( now 255 under memtest86+ full standard test @ 2.73v , 13 full pass during 8h00 test safe) .
For my trouble with memtest in windows, I think you put your finger on, quick test doesn't show me same early errors as before but need deeper test ; I'm confident as 3d05 have succed at those timing now, so it's promising , right ?
So far so good , as I was expected for ~245mhz and I hit over 250.
GS technician thank you very much for your input.
these are nice
Actually, now I'm finding that Everest reports better latency in cas2.5 than cas2 AND cas3. Less bandwidth (and that's what this forum is for!) but would it be better to use cas2.5 for the lower latency?Quote:

This $190 ram is amazing.
I just passed SuperPi 32MB @ 270.1 MHz Frequency 3-3-2-5, 2.8V
2.7 GHz (300HTT (9/10 Divider) x 9 Multiplier)

where i am (i am in taiwan of all places lol), i can get:
2gbhz for 254 us$
2gbhs for 215 us$
2gbzx for 221 us$
should i gamble and try zx (or even hs) or go for the garantueed hz for some more money, what would u guys go for at these prices?
Oooh, I could sell you my ZX for $210 shipped. It does 260mhz but I'm not sure if I wanna get rid of it already.
Just test both sets of zx and picked out to strongest 2. Here's my results:
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/8013/268zx1hc.th.jpg
Just a little better then random but not much.
I have tried on a few different ocassions, but 249 seems to be the limit for 2.5CAS on this set I have. ~268 for CAS 3. I need 255, so CAS 2.5 was out of the question for me.Quote:

But honestly it's not AS impressive to me to see the guy with the $1000 CPU, quintriple cascade, liquid hydrogen, absolute zero running system. Sure it's fun to read about, that's why I am here, but the avg enthusiast can't afford that. I am much more impressed when the community comes together and we find the right combination of parts for a $1000 system to beat or stay on par with a $3000 system. Obviously this Gskill example is only $30 but it's the principal. Some people can't dig up the $300 for Ballistix, or the $250 for the HZ, so here they are doing their XtremeSystem thing with these Gskills(and these RAM IMO are quite the deal if you have a good set). If they get lucky they saved enough to pay their electricity bill.
I feel empathy for those that don't get the sticks to do what they hoped for, but I don't feel sorry for them. Which I think is what is getting to you, but for you to ask why people do it???....perspective Martin, perspective.
The HZ is rated 3-4-4-8 at DDR500 also, I see people on here listing better timings with thier ZX at DDR500. So why not go with the better timings at lower price? Besides, newegg lists the HS for $229 while the ZX is $212. Not much difference in price but the potential for better timings at a lower price.Quote:

Another happy customer... Any better suggestions on my settings, etc?
I just got mine running, 2.9v and all the bios settings in the first post on my dfi nf4 with 6-23 bios other than async and preamble which need to be higher for my opty and it kept locking. I set 3-3-3-5 and I'm mem testing 255 now. Meh...
Hi,
This is really strange , I'm confuse here.
I succeed
1°) memtest86+ @ 255 3/3/2/5/1T ~ 2.73v ,
2°) the long memory test (~3h00) of S&M (250 ~2.7v),
3°) all 3d0x series (250 ~2.73v),
4°) playing ~2h00 with need for speed - Most Wanted (250 @ 2.7v)
I have tried 2 A64 3200+ E3 and both gave me the same result ,
I've tried with divider 150/166/183 and in 1/1 .
I still can't pass more than a 4M Spi ? (tried @ 250) 8M failled, I have played with the MAL and the RPT but have not yet found the good setting , I'm sure it must be a ram setting but what way to find it , I'm not an expert with all these ram settings.
Yesterday , after setting the ram in bios @ 3/3/2/5/1t (all the rest @ auto) I have passed 3d05 and 03 @ 250 with only 2.62v but not Spi 8M ??? (I had need before 2.7v to pass 3d05, so strange).
Somebody know if there is a new bios for the Expert serie of DFI Sli-dr that's supposed to be better with the new 2gb ram kit ?
PS : :woot:, I found the origine of my trouble : crapy NVIDIA IDE drivers !!!! :slapass:
I have discovered it when my dvd rom didn't refresh after loading a new cd , after coming back to the microsoft ide driver all have been working fine, I have completed an 8M Spi and 32M right now @ 250 with only 2.61v(smartguardian report).
At all of you who are running with NF4 , are you using the NVIDIA IDE driver ?
255 @ 2.73v with GS technician timing
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/9...255273v6oc.jpg
260 @ 2.82v Spi 32M

and 265 for max screen
http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/7...x2657cr.th.png
@tomati
that is a nice found, i believe i am using nvidia IDE driver, i should change to other dirver too. are you using MS' dirver now?
let me know
I am using the nVidia IDE drivers (6.70) with no issues, but it's an Ultra-D, not an Expert....

I have first trying to install windows (sp1 full fix updated) with the 6.70 but get error so choose the one that are on my dfi cd driver ,the 6.66 ; as I come from kt600 , I didn't know that the Nvidia ide driver can cause some trouble ( cd-rw and dvd-rw not recognized or impossible to burn) , so I have allowed to install them when pop up ask it to me, my bad.
