as for the cooling, it's one huge list hehe :P, no seriously, the cpu is cooled by 2 radiators (booth fitting 2x120mm fans), DangerDen TBX silver waterblock, eheim 1250

the highest i've had it up to (so far) is 2805 with 1.57v, but the temps stopped me from leaving it there :(
i only asked about the memory really cos i've got probs taking mine above 260MHz, but i can't tell if it's the cpu, the board or the memory :confused: the monitor just goes mad and starts clicking on and off :shrug:
i'm planning on putting together a second system, so as i buy some parts, i'll swap them out with mine to see if i can maybe find the cause

My CABYE 0536 GPMW has the same values as yours, 59ºC and 50W TDP but I have it stable at 3Ghz with only 1.55v and rock stable at 2.8Ghz 1.37V.
So overclock capability is not "code" dependent (so.. this program can't tell you if your cpu will OC better or not).

Just read this thread after having a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: off a time trying to overclock this CPU - This chip isnt a good clocker, I was just testing with the STD HSF on to see what it runs at STD speeds to see if it got hot enough to send back 50C under full load (prime small fft x2) and thats at 1.34Vcore

The Coolest - with reference to the Opteron Thermal Profiles in their technical docs could it not be argued that the tables (Table 9) are merely showing the characteristics of the thermal solution used rather than the TDP of the Opterons.
The reason I say this is the base ambient temperature is shown as 42C - if you look at the Thermal Profile of dual core Opterons (Profile I) it shows the Thermal resistance to be 0.2 C/W - so for a TCasemax value of 49C the delta is 7C and quite simply 7/0.2 = 35C which is the value shown in the "Power" column?
This holds true for every value except where TDP hits its known upper limit (Int his case 110C).
The issue for me that I cant work out is what happens if the ambient temperature is lower than 42C - theoretically that gives a much higher TDP which in itself cant be correct. Also any idea why the figure 42C was used for ambient?
I'm not really sure why. It doesn't really explain anything in that document. Maybe, just maybe, at 42C Ambient (which is probably the HSF or the IHS temp) is the point where they measured the thermal resistance?
I dunno, but I'm pretty sure that TDP should not vary greatly with increased or lowered temps.

Actually 49C is a value that AMD has said to not use. I'm not sure what this means, I'm pretty sure that most of those Opties are not 35W chips...Quote:

That is very odd. The 146 Opteron has 'D' Thermal Profile, in which the highest TCM/TDP is 65C/67W. Now in your case for some unknwon reason your chip is showing a TCM which is no included in the thermal profile. That is why you see TDP 0.0, and the TDP field is grayed out.Quote:

49C TCaseMax is not used anymore, this means that for any CPU which returns 49C TCM (like the new Dual Core Opterons), the program will report "This CPU does not support TCaseMax feature."
Extended the 'D' Thermal Profile, as some chips using this profile have reported higher TCMs than the highest TCM specified in the profile.

The highest TCM that can ever be reported is 79C because of hardware limitation.
The way that TCM works is this. There is a 4 bit field which contains the TCM value, you take that value, multiply by 2 and add 49 to the result.
In other words: (TCMField * 2) + 49 = Actual TCM in Celcius.
All mobile CPUs return TCM of 49C or "TCMField " of 0, because their actual TCM is too high to be programed into the processor. AMD also states that 49C TCM is "Not Used".
Now different CPUs have different thermal profiles by which we determine the TDP, depending on the TCM reading.
There are two possibilities here:
a) The 49C chips we've been seeing lately are actually 49C/35W chips.
b) These 49C chips have a TCM higher than the highest TDP value in a certain thermal profile, and thus this field in the CPU is just programmed with '0' instead to return no TDP at all.

Hmm.. 49C is not supported. Not a good overclocker but not terrible. Not 100% stable @ 2.85 @ 1.55V with Big Typhoon.

I think I can get 2800 easily, now its with TT Silent Boost and no AS5. So 57ºC means its a good Venice? its an LBBWE 0532, E6
