Remember about the 1.35v or 1.40v thing that was posted and about not being able to tell? Shouldn't the 1.35v cpu's say 1.35 in the IHS like that one?
I'd assume so since that one says 1.4
I thought it was 1.4 or 1.45v????
nope, 1.4 or 1.35
Would it be wrong to assume the 1.35v chips would tend to overclock higher than the 1.4v ones?
Well this kinda sucks then all there seems to be is improved ondie controller but it wont be worth it if a 3000+ Venice is gonna cost me $200 while my winny that 3dmarks at 289x9=2.6 only ebays for $130 :(
Well i ordered a 3000 939 tonight, should be here in 2 days (so monday). Will post back with info (doubt highly highly its a venice)
If its not a Venice, good luck on 2.3GHz :(
HAHA! Check this out:
Venice April 18 in stock
WOOT! Of course this is an Ireland store BUT!, if they get it on that date then SURELY the US and canada should get it at least on that date also right?
Oh boy oh boy oh boy I can't help but feeling excited.
You know, and I know this sounds ominous, but if AMD really is waiting for existing Winchester stock to run down, well I'm pretty sure that Eire's Winnie consumption is lower than USA/Canada's, so they would send fewer that way. Therefore, it stands to reason that they would work their stocks down faster, which is why AMD is sending them Venice April 18th. For all we know, AMD is planning to screw us by waiting until every single last Winnie in the USA is sold, and if it takes until June for that to happen then so be it.Quote:

At this point we shouldn't assume anything. Maybe the chip would have more headroom if it starts at 1.35V, maybe not. Certainly we can hope this is the case, and also hope for the 1.35V chip to be the one in our BPBOXes when AMD finally ships the damn things.Quote:

Nice. Venice 3200+
Quote:
The results were nothing short of amazing, as I was able to reach 2.8 GHz on the standard 1.4v voltage and with standard AMD air cooling.
is there anyone from Ireland in the forums that can verify that sites info?
That is highly unlikely since that same site lists having right now 958 3000+ winnies, 781 3200+ winnies and so on. It just doesn't seem logical that AMD would wait until EVERY SINGLE winne is sold before shipping.Quote:

They dont even list the retail 3500+ winchester anymore, meaning it sold out and there not stocking anymore. This supports that there clearing out teh winny and then bringing in the venice. All right, call me stupid, but how do you make Newegg show how many items in stock? I don't see number left anywhere in the product listings...
Add it to your card and change the quantity to 99. It will only update to the amount in stock.Quote:

lol, but really, we all saw the papers saying April 4th. yet we have no evidence that they have actually been shipped. I think we have every tight to call it a paper launch if no one has gotten their CPU by the 20th. I personally have been waiting a month for this core to order all my stuff off of newegg :( :( :( :( :(
Its only april 7 ;) I honestly do think they shipped on the 4th but dude, it takes 2 weeks to arrive, shipping isnt instant!
y didn't they do overnight shipping? :D
really! If AMD would have asked, I am sure the enthusiast community would have payed for some of it.Quote:

Did anyone see the Elara website? Venice and San Diego are expected to arrive on the 18th. They claimed to have the 3000+, 3200+, 3500+ and the 3800+. Whats interesting is that they are selling 4000+ San Diego at €712.97 which is about USD$905 and they have the FX-55 90nm selling at €503.02??? Just so you all know, Elara does not have the best reputation here in Ireland so take it with a pinch of salt.
I'll give them a call tomorrow!
I already posted about the Elara website. Please do give em a call and check on the Venice. Thanks.

OK, I edited my post. I E-mailed the Admin but I never heard back. So since I'm not out to offend anyone and since there is too much suspicion, I'll just let you guys know when they will be in. I'll try to find out if AMD has shipped them or not. I'll check with my suppliers tomorrow morning and see what they say. I was never out to get a Venice since I only work with Opterons and what I am waiting for is Dual Core.
I don't sell anything Online (hence no "credentials") because I am afraid of getting scammed, which is one of the reasons why I avoid selling retail in the first place. I try to stick with Professionals and large order customers. I was planning on bothering my AMD contacts, if I had to, about this issue but I can see it might not be worth it.
Sorry guys. Just trying to help. :toast:
Well BELIEVE ME, I'm very interested, but as you said so yourself no one wants to get scammed and here in the forum world a user gets trolled more often than anyone would like.
But dude if you could really try to get some info on when it's gonna get released PLEASE be so kind as post it.
And I don't think anyone got offended but since it's your first post and such and no one knows you, everyone automatically gets their guard up.

If you are the real deal and you can prove it to me, I will be one of the first in line.
Well I guess I should let you guys know some good news I just got in my e-mail.
Monarch let me know that they will have them up for pre-order as soon as they can.
Oh yea the good news. They said they will be in stock next week.
Sweet. I wonder if there's going to be ~week delay for San Diego as well?
OMG C42, didn't you pre order yours from NCIX? Are you gonna cancel it? If monarch gets it next week I suppose NCIX won't be too far behind I hope.
If Monarch puts em up for pre-order I'm cancelling my NCIX. I have something else going on too, might get to put a nice little comparison together. We'll see heh.
I have bad news on the Newegg front. I sent an email to them asking for an ETA on Venice, and this is the response I received:
So I guess anyone who was holding out hope for a good Newegg deal can now abandon all of it. It's looking more and more like Monarch all the time... :stick:Quote:
The ETA for this part is about mid May. Thanks
God thats 4-6 weeks, forget them, lets hope Monarch gets em in a week like someone said :stick:
Monarch, all our hope is upon your shoulders. Do not, I repeat, do not lets us down!!!!!! Or somethings may happen ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Monarch has a chance to score big and win 1000s of customers. If they are smart, they would have ordered 1000s of Venice from amd because they should know how many of us are itching for Venice!
This is the email I got from Monarch this afternoon regarding the Venice...
"We do not have an ETA on these processors at this time. We will post this on the website once we have confirmed an ETA."
So take that for what you will.
ah f*** , does anyone know how current winnies are doing OC wise?
You can bet that Monach's price will be MUCH higher than Newegg if they ever got them in stock first.....
But who know, maybe the rep from newegg doesn't know what he was talking about and just blowing smoke, they also have a policy that said it's going to take 2 to 3 business days to process the order, but shipments always went out the same day you ordered in the morning or at noon, and I always get the package 1 day ahead of the scheduled date as well, so maybe they'll have them in mid April instead of May, I guess we'll wait and see.... ;)
Need to upgrade, need the venice, twitch. Been looking at websites for this thing for the past week like a junkie looking for change in the folds of the same couch every fifteen minutes. :wierd: 1st post on this site. hi guys. :stick: <--what does the stick thing mean?
from my past experiences newegg puts products on sale only after they have been in the market for a while ........ so they definitely dont get the newest latest stuff out there. I guess they dont like taking chances . Our best bet lies with Monarch or ZZF . Dunno how soon ZZF gets their parts though . I called up the local pc club and they say that they are waiting for the products to arrive at their warehouse and they have an order in already. So who knows ...... maybe next week we will finally see some Venice cpus in circulation .
This is the exactly what was in the e-mail. This was from the purchasing department.

A very quick update. Venice may be weeks away yet. It really depends on how many Winchesters are still out in the market. So if you really want them sooner, get all your friends, family (Aunt Edna and the like) to buy up the current Winchesters in the market.
Maybe I will buy a cheap Winchester now, and then upgrade to Venice or Dual-Core when they come out :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
What about you guys? It sounds like Venice is about a month away.
Here is the answer from Monarch, when I ask them about the VENICE :slobber:
Thank you for your request. We are working on getting these added as soon as

Pure speculation:
I think the "leaked?" (i doubt this is really what would be called a leak tho) information of how the venice did in terms of oc is doing alot of damage to the current winchester sales. AMD, and retailers didn't expect this, so they are (I really don't care who) pushing it as far back as they can to get people to become impatient so they go out and buy the winchester. If I'm right, and I hope that I'm wrong, I don't think venice will come out until late spring if anytime before summer.
In other words, I'm just repeating what the reps from Newegg and specially Monarch are saying.
Man, and I was finally gonna upgrade outa my machine after 3 years, and was getting ready to OC for the first time too. Patience...Patience...damn MTV and my short attention span, what was I saying?
conrad.maranan, Thank you!
Unfortunately, I can confirm that the Official Street Release time frame is Mid-May for Venice Core A64s. This is when the chips will be available in large quantities. (Retail and OEM but OEM will come sooner) It appears that AMD's wholesalers still have plenty of Winchesters and Newcastle still in stock. From the responses that I got it appears that AMD is indeed waiting to get rid of the existing supply of Athlon 64s before releasing Venice. However, as you may already know, plans might and sometimes do change. I wouldn't be surprised to see AMD let a few trickle into the Market if they found out how hot these chips are.
I was told that if I needed them real badly that I should contact my AMD Sales Representative. This means that if I were to get some I would not be able to get 30+. I would probably only be able to get about 5 or so. Of course, this is no were near enough to feed the masses. Although I have bought things directly from AMD in the past (4-way stuff), it was under special circumstances. I don't know if you guys know the way the Market works but resellers (Newegg, Monarch, etc.) usually never buy chips directly from AMD. We are usually always directed to go through AMD's certified distributors. So don't blame Monarch or NewEgg.
Good luck guys! :)
You'd be able to charge a pretty premium on those 5 or so Venices tho.
So I guess the Monarch guy had to really bug his supplier to promise a few Venice next week?
I'd better be up really early Monday morning, heh.
Vandi423, hook me up ;) I cant wait to get my hands on a 4000+ san diego :D
ah its a paperlauch, figures. nowdays everyone paperlauches. ah well I am not impatient and from what I hear the speed binned 3000+ venice do, its not much of an upgrade from my 2.6 winny anyway
where are there benches of 3000+ venice?Quote:

doesn't look like monarch is in a hurry to have a pre-sale for Venice. I contacted Dabney from purchasing at monarch yesterday. We exchanged emails back and forth. her last email was she'll try to convince her purchasing manager to have a pre-order for Venice. She told me she'll get back to me, but that was the last time i heard from her. I guess they still have alot of winnie left to get rid off. She also told me the Venice will be available next week, but i'll take it with a grain of salt. i'm dying to get a Venice. I also went so far as emailing AMD directly and calling their sales dept. to try to buy a Venice. That didn't go anywhere
dng29: :welcome: to XS!
damn the adding 99 of the same item to your basket doesnt work at Monarch. I added a 1000 and they let me. :( But with regards to Newegg, why would htey limit the quantity someone can buy if they are trying to get rid of stock?? DOnt understand.

yeah, but there are no mentions of SSE3. Seems like a pre-order, but can't be to sure.Quote:
