i dont know about the DAGF. I think the DAGF and infinity boards each have their own bios, and they arent compatible. the bios you list would be 8-11 and the latest official for the SLI/Ultras is 6-23, so i wouldnt try it.

since im not using TCCD, the 623-3 bios would not be the best for me right? Im guessing i should use the 623-1 (non memory specific) since my Ballistix are Micron chips and the 623-2 bios is for BH memory...
the 623-3 is for all ram types, and works the bestfor all of them.
i just flashed to it from 704-2BTA. It seems to give me the same stability... I guess ill stay with this for warranty reasons.
New Beta BIOS 11/14 for DFI NF4:

OMG! new bios! WOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
THanks monge, would never have known without you. (subscribed to this thread)
Edit: and it only adds FX60 support :( le poo. Anyone got any other results from it?
Mussels: np :)
Haven't tried it yet - 704-2BTA now and need to install my Opteron 146 first.
Look in the thread for results
Anybody try that new bios?
it looks like its the 623 official with only FX60 support added. I didnt see any need to upgrade to it, you can test it and tell me if you OC any better :D
I haven't flashed yet as I want to confirm something. When flashing, do your saved bios settings also get erased? I forget the actual name for it where you can save 4 different sets of settings.
CMOS reloaded.
And while the flash itself doesnt erase your settings (it wont touch the CMOS reloaded, ever) you should most definately load the optimised defaults and work your way from there, its never good to use settings from a previous BIOS.
You're better off CMOS reloading it in case you go back for some reason, and simply writing down the important settings and using them if you stay on the new bios.
Alright, will try that then. Also, is there any way to tell which bios it is currently running? I have no real need to know it, just wanna find out for the hell of it.
at the bottom of the BIOS menu, or the bottom of the screen when the PC powers on (so long as that pretty picture is disabled) it should have a date code.
6/23/05 = 623. its the date, in US format.

expert bioses are different and will kill the boards, so if you want to pile them up use a different thread and/or CD image.
'Muzz' if you've tried every bios, then its a problem with your system not the bios.
and yes its a stickied thread, and we all come back when theres new bioses out.
Thats right, I don't remember saying there was a problem with the bios, I was hoping there would be some kind of Bios fix for my boards bootup issues.
Yeah I guess I didn't bump up this thread, I went back to my previous posts to see if anything was found regarding the cold boot issue....
Having problems ever since i flashed to these bios... when i first got my mobo(SLI-DR)... which is now 5 days old it ran everything fine, booted on first try and everything... i flashed to the new bios mobo didn't even post... when it did 1/5 time my sata1/2 wouldn't get detected and raid0 wouldn't run properly.... flashed back to 6/23 bios and now i'm still having simular issues.. basically i get 1 LED and no display..Quote:

BTW for HTPC usage I have added 2x512 Twinmoss UTT to my BH-5 2x256 sticks.
I OBVIOUSLY had to change the CPC to off, and I adjusted the ram settings from 11-2-2-2 to 11-3-3-2.5....
The cold boot issue SEEMS to be gone( for 3 days straight it's booted right up), yet I am STILL booting at 250fsb,with the same hardware as before(same voltages also).
The 2x256 Corsair would run Memtest in WINDOWS all day at the settings it wouldn't boot at(and higher, not to mention 3dmark looped, and prime without issues), and the 1.5gb of mixed ram will run it now at the reduced settings np...
This tells me it's a hardware issue.......
It would SEEM to be a timings issue, but since I could run everything MUCH higher than the settings it wouldn't boot at, boot tells me it's a boot/hardware issue with the board.
Jet plane without a place to take off from........
Oh well this POS is at least working at some settings without having to hit insert 100 times to get it to boot.
I guess I have that going for me.......
Muzz, i've heard that there is a setting in the memory options on the 623 and up bios with "normal, fast, faster" as options. I was told by an OCZ rep to "leave it alone, thats for corsair ram"
I dont know if it will help you, but since you have corsair ram problems, give it a try on all the settings.
I may do that M, Thanks for the info.Quote:

I was wondering what you guys are running for dual core optis and UTT i have found that the 5.10-XCEL2-LL work the best post what bios and timmings...and i will go from there and edit the thread with that info..I will post my timmings lattter i am not at home...
but 245 3.2 volts anything higer and i get wrrors no matter the bios and some not even stable at that...
Dragon
this may sound stupid firedragon, but at 245 did you forget the LDT multi? around those numbers i have a deadspot of a few MHz, because the LDT MHz are either way high or too low.
Okay I am confused, so many BIOS..................
Can someone elaborate on this for me?

I think the reason why most people are using the 702 and 704 beta bioses is b/c they are actually doing the best for most people. With UTT stuff, you should try out all 3 versions, but usually the -2 or -3 do the best.

I have the 704-3 (TCCD optimised I know :D ) with my G.Skill GBGH Winbond UTT-BH5 and it works fine :)
(because before I had Corsair XMS PC4400C25 TCCD ;) )
This BIOS is good for my mobo, I don't change it.
I am back to tweaking tweaking my PC after more than 6 months. I have read this entire thread and some others and I am still not sure which ones to try and which ones to avoid. Can somebody please recommend which BIOS to try and which ones to avoid. My specs are:
DFI NF4 Ultra-D
Winchester 3000+
Memory Set (1)
2x512 PDP Patriot XBLK PC3200 TCCD
2x512 OCZ EL Platinum Rev 2 v1.1 PC3200 TCCC
Memory Set (2)
2x512 OCZ EL Gold BH5 PC3200 UTT/BH5
2x512 OCZ EL Gold VX PC4000 UTT/CH5
I have tried some earier BIOS which I don't remember. The last 2 I have tried were 510-2 and 510-3FIX.
My CPU seems to be topping out at around 9x280 so my goal is either:
(a) Run TCC* memory with 200 devider (10:10) at 280MHz and 2.5-3-3-x-1t or 2.5-4-3-x-1t timings.
(b) Run UTT memory with 180 divider (09/10) at 252MHz and 2-2-2-x-1T timings.
I have been able to do (b) many times before (with enough voltage), but I have never been able to do (a).
Which RAM do I use for each of these 2 configurations?
It seems like 704 can kill your CPU with 123%+ special control, has that been fixed? I am using 1.325+123% on my CPU so I am assuming I should avoid it?
What other BIOS should I avoid?
Thanks
I suggest you try BIOS 623 as I could achieve my goal, DDR600 2-3-3-7-1T with it so I think you should try it in case you didn't already
Thanks for your response ReelMonza, is that the official 6-23 BIOS or one of the modded 6-23-x ones?Quote:

I've already tried 629, 702 and 310p but none of them were as good as 623 was for me, sticks in the orange slots btw.
techPowerUp! has lots of BIOS, you should take a look :
http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/other/114
OK, so I decided to flash to 6.23 official bios (which as I found out is the same as 6.23-3, is that correct?)
I downloaded pershoot's ISO image and made a CD. I was able to boot from it and browse the menus (using the function keys) so I assumed it should be working fine. I loaded the optimized defaults in the current BIOS (5.10-3FIX) and booted from the CD and selected the 6.23-3 BIOS.
But now I am stuck at this screen, I don't know what to do:
It just sits there with cursor blinking after the BIOS file name and doing nothing. It has been almost half an hour.Quote:

There is no progress bar yet, as it happens when it starts flashing BIOS.
I am assuming the flash hasn't started yet, yes? Will I get my system back if I restart?
What do I do?
EDIT:
OK, so after waiting for about an hour I decided that I have nothing to loose so I crossed my fingers and hit the reset button. Fortunately the system booted into Windows with all the previous settings.
I wander what went wrong though? I really would like to use pershoot's ISO disk to do my flashes, as it is very convinient. Anyone has any ideas?
Thanks.
i think you were meant to hit enter at that stage to start the flashing
Hmmm, I did, many times I think.Quote:

LOL no i didnt...and i have tried every bios in my list...and the higest that i can get is 255...and that just isnt aceptible for me considering my old sticks would do 270+ on my winnie then one decided to die then the other soon after in my freinds rig last time i let anyone use my ram....So really i was just wondering what has been working with you guys...Quote:

Finally a new bios - NF4LD329-3. Has anybody tried it?! What are the changes?
i'm on it now. it just seems to be a few bug-fixes and cold boot fixes (apparently caused by a PS2 mouse with a USB keyboard).
only real change to report is that FSB speeds reset to 200, due to a change in how it was written. be sure to check your CMOS reloaded profiles have set the right number if/when you load em.
edit: my OC results arent useful, since just recently i lost 200MHz overclock for some unknown reason. so my results wont be reliable.
DO NOT USE THIS BIOS
It just killed my SLI-DR. 3 red leds on boot. Winflash reported bios flashing successful.
uh-oh. did you do a CMOS reset? i had to hold down the ins key to get mine to boot, but it worked fine after that...
posted twice, seemed fine. 3rd post set ram timings and ram voltage (like i always do), saved, no post, ever again. no blinking lights, ram light + led at the bottom on, no beep from speaker, 2 reds on. cleared cmos/battery/ins key, etc., etc. nothing.
2 should be video. i shall try to snag a pci vid card and check it out b4 getting another board.
Had severe problems with this new bios aswell.Quote:

this entire thread is about the board you have xirokx.

what and where is the best bios for the DFI NF4 Ultra D and Opty 165?
thanks
hi guys.
geee, after i have read this thread maybee i wont buy miself a DFI UT LanParty Ultra-D,cause i kinda planned to upgrade my bios after i buy it(tomorrow),but reading this I think its "imposible" to decide what BIOS to put :( .My CPU will be Opteron 165 and RAM OCZ Platinum pc4000 EB, sooo..any advice or should i go with latest BIOS on DFI website if I decide to stick with LP.Thanks
There are many bios mods and specific ram optimized bios but latest one from DFI should be OK (if you buy it)Quote:

patience isnt the problem, i have lots of patience.Time and frustration is,cause i know i aint just that lucky to hit the right BIOS in short time(i am not quite an optimist.:slapass: ).Ill buy DFI,and i guess ill try latest stock BIOS first.(improving my character :D ). :toast:
time and frustration not equal patience? it does in my book :P
Hey guys!
I have a little problem i hope you can help me with:
My RAM/bios seems to hate any other divider then 100/166/200.
I got an awesome X2 3800+ that runs 3ghz ad default vcore primestable but i can't get above 3070mhz because my RAM hits it's limit there on the 166 divider.
If i could use the 140 divider i could max out the CPU and prolly hit 3.2 GHZ.
I am using 2x 1024 GSkill ZX modules on a DFI Lanparty 4 ULTRA D.
Used bios: N4D704-2BTA (BigToe Mod)
Is it even possible to run a 140 divider with that RAM?
It's down to the CPU, as to what dividers work. So you're screwed on that count. I have some nice DDR600 that needs no dividers so can i have your CPU? :D

Hi guys, Got my 'NewEgg Special' LanParty UT SLI Expert on the way now. Is it safe to say that NF4ED406 BIOS has been out long enough now that I should be ok to flash it if needed? I need to use the floppy method or is WinFlash ok to use? Who the heck still uses the floppy drive?!?! LOL TIA

What would be the best bios for a DFI nf4 Ultra-D to go along with 2 x 1Gb G-Skill 2GBHX and an Opteron 165
Normally the ram should have Infineon BE-5 chips + Brainpower PCB.
My brother has:

I bought him X2 3800+ Manchester (was 3000+ Venice). Before OC need to flash a new BIOS. What Bios is the best for this rig? Thank you
Hi 2BIG4U
I am using the DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D - so practically identical to your motherboard but with a few bits missing (!!) - which I recently bought on Ebay.
I updated to:
http://http://eu.dfi.com.tw/Support/Downloa...=A &SITE=UK:D
Listed under unidentified in the 1st post sticky (naming it NF4LD406.ZIP is a bit of a give away I think to the version number - no?).
This is a great BIOS. Loads of RAM strength tweaking options. Just flashed the BIOS under Windows (sweet no floppy :banana::banana::banana:!!) I got a Athlon 64 3000+ Venice running at 2.5Ghz with the FSB 1:1 @275Mhz (2x 512Mb good quality Kingston RAM sticks) @ CAS3.0/2T, with 3V. Super PI of 36 seconds... I built the board up for a guy at work... but I wanted to keep it myself!!
DFI are really great... They even sent out the Karajan audio module and the motherboard I/O plate out free of charge to me within a week of me emailing support!! Bloody E-bay sellers losing these important parts...

im using the latest stock bios and I just resurrected my system
I booted from CD and installed FreeNAS onto my USB stick. I took two 7200.9s and made them a RAID-0 array. I'm just testing before I buy 4x Samsung F4 2TB drives. But after I formatted and made those 2 drives a striped array in ZFS, I rebooted and now I get perma stuck at the BIOS splash screen.
Does this board freak out with ZFS or something? I decided to screw it and pull my USB stick and boot with 1 drive only, even if it kills the array (just testing data anyway). No go. Either drive = stuck at splash screen.
What the heck??? With the drives removed it boots into FreeNAS just fine.
Where's the bios'es I made for those boards .
:(
I made bios'es for all those board's including the umm, what was it called, the venus.
Plus I made a diagram to show how to mod it into the pro chipset.
I made a bios for those pro modded board's too "I think", not sure anymore though...
The only thing I can remember is someone stealing stuff out of my bios..., I remember that...
Ohwells, that board is so old anyways, still...
So bad to read this :(
Your Mod Bios should Live!
