Set Drive Strength to Weak
Krzychu and WulleWuu, do you both use a low trfc value?
--> you might want to try 14 or 16 instead
(had to use that value on X2 4200+, DFI nF4 SLI-D and tccd431 sticks)
i have a similar problem. My Venice 3200+ can boot flawless over 10x275Mhz, Memtest OK and Windows 3dmark01, Super Pi 32M and OCCT all OK. BUT....i can't get 9x300Mhz stable in Windows, memtest pass fine up to 80 passes but when i try enter in windows in the welcome screen the system reboots.
10x275Mhz:
Memtest 1.55 #1 #2 #3 = OK
Memtest 1.55 #5 = OK (80 pass)
3dmark01 = OK
Super Pi 32M = OK
9x300:
Memtest 1.55 #1 #2 #3 = OK
Memtest #5 = OK (80 pass)
Loading Windows = OK
Enter Windows = Fail...then reboot
Is weird how i can enter Windows on 2750Mhz but not in 2700Mhz
Kakaroto o somebody please help us!
For 9x300 i tried even with 1.69V for Vcore and i get the same result. For 10x275Mhz i only need 1.55V.
Already tried all weak values (1, 3, 5, 7), no cure.Quote:

Kakaroto, maybe you will try?
I already talked this trough with WulleWuu and if your memory is not even close to stable at stock speeds/timings; drivestrength/datastrength and TrFc will not help much.
You can try Trtw at 3 if it is at 2.
Their might be one module broken, so please test them seperately in memtest86++ and SPI 32M/SP2004/Prime.
You should RMA them if the results are negative.
If you have another CPU this is better, then you can see if the memorycontroller is not bad.
Good luck,
@JEROEN: This is a common problem. This can be the Multiplier 9 with 10:9 divider. Please flash another bios like the 704BT or the 623 at dfi.com.tw.
Thank you kakaroto. But i flashed to 704-2BTA and still was impossible to get 300x9. But the problem seems to be my motherboard, because i got a Nforce 3 mobo (msi k8n neo2) and for incredible that seems easy can boot and enter to Windows on 300x9 but no 100% stable.
Is any work being done for the Infinity NF4X?
Hi, dudes!
I bought a new rig yesterday. the new rig is composed for:
DFI SLI DR
AMD 4400+
Gskill 4800LA tccd.
My question is!
I have see the majority uses bios 623-1, but also has the 704-2bta. Which the difference between them?
Regards
Noosphere
In the 704 there are improvements with some deviders etc.Quote:

OCZ Plat Rev. 2 512x4 @ 260 2.5-3-3-6 @ 2T of course with no errors in MemTest. I wonder how much more I can get out of it. 260FSB with 4 DIMMs is pretty good itself correct?
Can't believe it has taken me this long to read this thread! Great work/advice karakoto!
Question for karakoto: I have had my 2x512MB g.skill LE's, for some time now, and have never been able to run stable at 275 2.5-3-3-7. I can only get then stable with 2.5-4-3-7or8. (7 with my Neo2 and 8 with my new DFI Ultra-D) I am running a 0431 3500+ Winnie. These are 437 modules. When I run memtest86 i get errors in 5 and 8 with everything in AUTO at 2.7v.
Should I RMA these sticks? What is the turn-around time?
Thanks
Hi all and thanks for the great guide!
Recently got my new 939 setup from a 754 setup and I took the OCZ Platinum Rev2's from the old rig and into this.
I couldnt seem to get 270 of of these with the 754 setup but with the older memory controller it wasn't too much of a surprise for that to happen.
So I was hoping to get these sticks (2*512) to really show their worth and go for 300HTT.
The processor, a 3800 venice was bought second hand, and the previous owner ran it at 2.7Ghz on about 1.47 volts. He did show me a CPU-Z verified screenshot of it doing 2.9 (242*12) but I dont think it was stable obviously.
So I think the chip is quite good being able to get to 242HTT on its highest multi?
However, Ive really played around with my memory timings based from kakaroto DDR600 TCCD guide.
I keep falling on DFIs Memtest86+ 1.55, test 6 and Ive managed to get the errors down to 46 from within the hundereds.
The setup to try this was:
3800 Venice 300HTT , 1.45v (maybe I needed more volts through the CPU?)
2*512 OCZ Plats Rev2 1:1 1T (2.8v, seemed to like 2.8 more than 2.9volts) Was running Dual Channel in slots 1 and 3 (yellow banks)
DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR, 6-23 bios
Hiper Type-R 580w PSU
Any ideas as to where I may be falling?
Many thanks
edit: Tried 1.55 volts through the CPU and still no go :(
Hi
I am using an AMD 4800+ dual core, DFI Lanparty SLI-DR M/B with 4*512 G.Skill Extreme PC4800 (1G..FF) CPU is watercooled via Swiftech Storm G4, DD5 pump.
I currently am running at 11*242 and I am 20 hours P95 stable with no dividers with my memory running at 2.5-3-3-6 with all 4 sticks.
Memtest 86 gives no errors and I seem to be rock solid.
I was looking to go lower perhaps to 2-2-2-2 but I was looking for some advice as to if this was worth it ? Is it a case of if it is not broken do not fix it?
I am new to o/c especially on the memoery side and it has taken me a few weeks to get to this point...last count was somewhere in the region of 52 different settings and testing as I wanted to do it the hard way and also try to learn in the process.
Aqua Mark 3 gives me a reading of 102,400 and 3D Mark 01SE is just over 31K.
My current settings are as follows in case anyone is interested.
200/1:1, cpc : Dis
2.5, 3, 6, 3, 7, 14, 4, 3, 2, 2, 3120, Auto, Ena, Dec, 0, Auto, Auto, Auto, Norm, Auto, 16, Ena, 16x, 7x, Dis.
I have also had some luck with
2.5,3,6,3,7,14,2,2,1,4,3120, 5 clk,Enabl, Dec, 0, Auto, 1, 7, Normal, 5.0, 16, dis, 16x, 4x enable although not quite as tight.
I suspect that I may have to lossen off my timings again and then gradually work back down again using the 2 instead of the 2.5, any idea's or suggestions would be most welcome at this point in time.
so you want to know if you should try 2-2-2 at 242? that definitely won't work on tccd if that's what you mean.Quote:

Please try the sticks seperately, most of the time one will fail 2.5-3-3-7 if the sticks are faulty. The turn around time depends where you live. If its not too busy 1 week.Quote:

I'd like to put my gskill FF at 300Mhz with 2.5-3-3-8. They passed the SPI32Mb only at 290x9 at 2.5-3-3-8 with 2.7vdim and 1.5 vcore. If i put the cpu multi at 8x the results is the same. Do u thinks that the memory controller of my A64 whinny 3000 to have problems?
It can be.
My G.Skill's 4800LA can't run 300 2.5-4-3-6-1T Bank Int. ON with this Venice, although they ran with the other CPU's I had.
If anyone has any tip for me, please tell me, I'd really like to enable the Bank Int.... I can feel the differences. Windows is not as smooth as with Bank Int. Enabled.
Thanks
Hi, now its my turn to seek for help, i have Gskill 4800FF :slobber: , but i can to make them stable @ 300x10 - 2.5-3-3-6 2.6v, only at 2.5-4-3-6, the settings in my bios are:
200
Enabled
2.5
4

3
11
14

Auto or Increases ( i have try both)
255
7

8
Normal

The bios that i use is 623-3 with a opteron 148, any help to achieve 300 @ 2.5-3-3-6 - 2.6v?
i have already read about this memories in this forum but i can put them stable.
@kakaroto or anybody
I've just received my LEs (519) from RMA and I can't stabilize them on stock speeds
I'm on 704-2BTA bios and strange thing happens when in memtest test no. 8. It gives no errors for 2 or 3 passes and then just stops (hangs) and all I can do is to push the reset button
I'm also not sure about DRAM Drive strength in this bios because the possibilities differ from the elder bioses (weak1-4 and normal1-4). Which one is the best for TCCD?? Also not sure about DRAM Response Time
I'm waiting for some good results my nobel friend :)
I have read somewhere that weak and normal is something like this:Quote:

Now i dont remember if is this the right order for that option.
Level 7 should be Weak 4 I believe. I found this out do to switching from BIOS 623 to BIOS 704 and that is the setting it left it at.....
On AUTO (Data and drive strength) they should work. Please try the 623 bios, the 704 may have problems.Quote:

All the TCCD are quite the same if you are talking about overclocking. Some 440 are the best, some 519+.Quote:

For all TCCD idle cycle limit of 0 is fastest. I personally use the 623 official bios, this works fine for me. (BH-UTT, TCCD, UCCC, BE-5)
reason i ask is i've tried TCCD 507 and all only like 2.6-2.66v vdimm any higher more instability... TCCD 431 likes more vdimm 2.74-2.9v while TCCD 440 better chance of 300mhz but they can either be low vdimm or high vdimm loving modules... but TCCD 516 is first i tried
my definition of low vdimm and high for TCCD is
low = 2.5-2.7v
medium = 2.7-2.85v
high = 2.85-2.9v
Mi 440 LE´s gave the best results at 300+ with 2.9-3.0v, but in 280´s range, the best voltage is 2.7-2.75v, all above that causes lots of errors in memtest and SuperPi... ;)Quote:

My LEs 519 need 2,8V. They are pretty nice sticks. I did 299MHz 2,5-3-3-6 Pi 32M stable but it's not 24/7 stable. I'm still working on them but 295-297MHz would be max for everyday use I guess, but still it's a very good result I think. Due to kakaroto's advice I switched to 623-3 official and it does just fine. Thx man
I will have to try this 623. I am now with 510-2 using it with BH-5 and TCCD, and no problem at all.
The 702 sucks, it gives me memtest errors with configurations that I use for 24/7, so I came back with 510 and perfect.
I will try 704 too, but if you are telling me that this 623 is good, will try it first... :D
How about the FX60Test BIOS?? Any problems or good things with it??
Wow, my 440 LE's got me to 310, 2.5-4-3 with 2.83v quite easily but @2.9v I'd get errors so I never go over 2.83v.
well finally after trying a dozen or more TCCD ram from centon, gskill and patriot i finally found a gem!
this is my 4th pair of Gskill PC4800FF (3rd rma) it's TCCD 0516 - seems to be the medium to high vdimm kind of TCCD
http://www.fileshosts.com/DFI/NF4_SL...rpi-32m_tn.jpg
my next best pair is my Patriot PC3200XBL @305-308mhz 2.5-4-3-6 at 2.64v
Looking good eva , but you know that Centon you sold me can do almost the same ;)
Great FF eva! :toast:
Kakaroto do the new LE sticks have HS ??
Yes, all new G.Skill Extreme series have Heatspreaders.Quote:

hmmm. a lot of the tccds i have can easily do 315mhz 2.5-4-3-7 at 2.8v, especially newer date codesQuote:

I've read every single post in this thread and have tried many, many different settings all to no avail. Have read through every forum I could find on TCCD. Anything over 250 would give me random BSODs.
Question: If my memory passes memtest86, STD test for 28 passes with the RAM at 275mhz 2.5-3-3-7 1T @ 2.7V, processor clocked to it's default 2Ghz, then would there be any reason that I could never be able to get Windows stable? Should I RMA or not?
I've been OCing for 7 years and this is the most stumped I've ever been. I tried some Corsair RAM rated at 200mhz 2-3-2-6 1T and they passed SuperPi 32M, Prime95 for 8 hours and everything else I could throw at it WHILE my processor was OCed to 2.4Ghz on the same rig. So I think it's safe to assume it's not my memory controller, correct? Either way I have a 148 Opteron coming to test out that theory.
Hello kakaroto...... any special tweaks necessary for GSkill LE 512x2 memory with a Venus Core cpu? Do I have to do anything special with the Skew, drive stength or data drive strength? I'm using this with my favorite 510-fix bios.
Any good setting for my hyperx pc3200 and x2 4400+ ?
I bought a 1gb kit and it have different built date Cpu-Z 1.31 says, one is built week39 -04 and the other week46 -04, can this be true?

hi
well
i just found this thread.....i am having serious issues
i dont know if the prob comes from my cpu...or mobo....or maybe me:D
i tested 3 diff cpus....venice 3000....3700 SD....opteron 146
3 diff dfi-ultra-d
each cpu can clock high...on air and phase change...i can give details...
and my problem is.......i cant boot above 280...no mather what i do....
flashed 4 bios allready....current bios is 623-fix...the best so far....the worst was 704-2 bt
what i find weird is this
for 280...i have to feed 2,8 vdimm
if i crank the vdimm up to 2,9 i can boot to memtest at 290....but ryderocz told that is just to much vdimm and that the memorys should do it with 2.7/2,75 max
i cant have a memory like tccd running crazy volts 24/7....
its a long post by now so i will stfu and wait for your answers;)
thnxs
EDIT: sig is not updated.....ocz pc 4800 elite platinum
I have tested my ocz pc3200 el rev.2, i have tested them single channel which both 512 mb sticks pass ddr600 mhz, 2-4-3-6 at 2.8 volt.
When i put both sticks in with the same settings i get 1000000 errors
I have tried the san diego memorycontoller tweaks because i have an Opteron 144. Still no go.
Also i have lowered my CPU multiplier so it wont stress the memory controller so much.
Any idea what it could be, thanx !
Had a little time to play with these sticks
I was aming for 2.5-3-3-6 T1 DDR600
Ive got some results posted else where so heres the link.

Im going to give them some more burniin and see what i can pull.
Kakaroto, could you please tell me what voltage is optimal for my TCCD (0519 and 0522)?
My memory is covered with copper heatsinks. Also I'm planning to install 120mm fan to blow on this one.
How long will my memory live supplied by 2.90-3.00V? As I know "new" TCCD like more voltage!
There are a pictures of my memory:
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/745...back6ei.th.jpg http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/444...ront0vy.th.jpg
Can every TCCD-based memory be overclocked up to 600MHz supplied by 2.6-3.0V with timing set 3.0-4-4-8 ?
What BIOS can you recommend nowadays for DFI nF4 Ultra-D + my TCCD? Is it 623-3?
Thanx for quick reply! ;)
It's possible that so called "new" tccd likes more voltage, but on aircooling, I would stay in the 2.75-2.85 range... Better to be safe than sorry...
About bios, 623-3 still is nice, but for some people, other biosses give more stability... You just have to try it yourself...
And most of the tccd sticks will do 300MHz, but not all of thme in dual channel... Lots of testing for you;-)
I recommend 2.7-2.77v, not higher. Btw. what kind of RAM is that? :) Looks different.Quote:

First of all, I'd like to thanks to Kakaroto for his guide! :)
After all tests I've got my memory overheat even supplied 2.76V! Now I don't use any active cooling! I'll install 120mm fan after changing PSU!
Yesterday after testing by S&M memory test I got several single errors, I switched off my PC and extract my memory modules! BUT heatsinks installed on my TCCD warm up to 70+C!!! :(
I can't understand how the vendor (for example G.Skill and Patriot) write on them modules recommended Voltage level about 2.7-2.9V??? G.Skill don't use ANY heatsinks!!! :(
When you look at the samsung tccd datasheet, you'll see 70°C is no problem at all... Best cooling for ram (imho) is to simply blow fresh air over them... ram heats up pretty fast and eveything you put on them (heatspreaders or ramsinks) slows the cooling process down... only watercooling or large copper sinks can beat cold air flowing over naked chips...Quote:

as you probably noticed, there is a small difference in heat generated/cm² between a cpu-core and a memorychip :DQuote:

OneyedK I'm sure that quality of my heatsinks (HS) is VERY good! Also I'm sure that cooled HS by blown fresh air is better than just naked chips! ;)
Could you please give me datasheet where I can find note about 70°C?
Thanx.

TCCD
C stands for Commercial Temp, 0~70°C
 Feel free to believe whatever you want, I told you it was MHO, I never achieved better results with ramsinks or heatspreaders than with naked chips cooled by good airflow
OneyedK Thanx for link! ;)
Very strange! Maybe I'll try to overclock my A64 3000+ (IHS off) using only blowing fan (without any heatsink). :)

I cannot get either to run ddr 600 stable @ any stock, rated, or loose timmings. Since I started, now I can't get the corsairs back to 600 DDR stable either. I was using the 510-1fix then switch to 623-3 then 704ta. Nothing works Help please.
Another question if my geils say week 24 year 05 how does that translate. Week 524?
What are your full memory settings (BIOS)?Quote:

can't get them stable with 2.5-3-3-6 1T past 260-263MHz
i can get it up to 310MHz 2.5-4-3-7 1T ..........
i can almost memtest up to 300MHz with 2.5-3-3-6 1T but just no go in windows....you'd think i'd be able to get stock speeds of 275 at least......and with my LE sticks highest memtest stable is just over 10MHz less for windows but not these FF sticks :slapass:
here is a couple of screenshots of 2.5-4-3-7 1T to give you an idea what timings i'm using
300MHz 2.5-4-4-8 1T 32M SuperPI
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6...i32m0iy.th.jpg
300MHz 2.5-4-3-7 1T 32M SuperPI
http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/5...i32m0yf.th.jpg
310MHz 2.5-4-3-7 1T SuperPI 8M
http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/8...i32m4xk.th.jpg
note that these FF sticks are the ones with heatspreaders so i don't know which week they are...........i can tell you that they respond well to volts as i gain stability and MHz with more volts...............also in memtest at 300MHz 2.5-3-3-6 1T first loop#5 pass @2.7v gives me 1500 erros; @2.8v 350 errors; @2.9v 6 errors...........i tried these settings with 282MHz on RAM in windows and error spits out in windows on first 32M pass = gay..........it's heart breaking when you see all the initial tests at 300MHz no probs...i hate getting excited over cherry picked RAM
superpi under 5minutes?? EDIT: just noticed that was 8M. hehe
im trying to get my 1GBFF's stable as well, Tried to push DDR620 but it still would give me bsod's or gaming crashes. I'll settle for DDR600 now with my 3200Venice...maybe get an Opty so I can cook at 300x10 instead of 300x8.
i wouldn't palm off the Venice too quick if it is just the memory you are thinking of......I had great experience with most if not all Venice CPUs I've had......really good for max RAM clocks....Opterons are a bit trickier
i think the key for my sticks was TREF=3120;TRTW=Auto(4 in windows); Drv/data Strenght=Auto(Normal in windows); Idle Cycle Limit=256; MAL=8;RP=5
gets really upset if i touch a different TREF,TRTW,Idle Cycle Limit or lower MAL
for 310 i needed more volts and bios selected weak drive strength.......i am yet to play with all of the data/Drive strengths and see which one is best for these
it would be nice to bring down TRTW=2 and most importantly better results with bloody TRCD=3.....at least 290 common you damn RAM you heheheheheh
Dinos22: How does your memory react on 275Mhz 2.5-3-3-7 with 2.7v? If it does not want to be stable at these settings, then the memory does not like the TRP and TRCD @3, maybe you should RMA them.
What is the serial number of you FF? maybe i can say what chips they have.

i would give you the serial number but it rubbed off as it was used with phase change so those labels are just blank with a little bit of ink at the end :( :( :( :(
Kakaroto What do you think about TCCD burning? For example BH5 usually increase MAX frequency limit after burning! :)
i tried that a while back with Corsair TCCD and found it was a waste of time
http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=522
You always can burn your memory, only you need to watch the Vddr. 2.7~2.8v is max for most TCCD.Quote:

I can't understand what was it but yesterday I tried to pass goldmemory 6.64 (THE HUGE trouble for my kit :)). I set 3-4-4-8-1T and Vddr=2.72V. I got many 00C1 errors... Trwt = 2. BUT then I set 3-4-4-8-1T and Vddr=2.69V and Trwt=3 and the GM 6.64 was passed successfully! Bandwidth is equal for both 2.5-3-3-6 and 3-4-4-8 = 7500/7400 (Sandra 2005 Pro SP3). I think the biggest trouble for my kit now is overheating (there is no blowing fans on it :(). I'm looking for guys could cut through my tower side the window for plex with 2x120mm fan! :) 1st fan should blow onto my TCCD's heatsinks, but 2nd - onto videomemories heatsinks... ;)
I just wanna get 600MHz @ 2.5-4-3-7-1T ROCK stable! ;)Quote:

So my venice should be able to do 300mhz. I'd like to get 310 so I can get max ram and cpu but I cant seem to get it stable. If I cannot get stable by next monday I'm RMAing the ram.
When did you get your sticks? I got mine end of October and my serials are 0510000342/0510000343. Still trying different settings before I RMA. Once I get windows memtest stable, It will crash while gaming..even while my cpu's max is at 2480mhz I ran 300*8 and it crashed.
This sucks :(
I run my TCCD @ DDR500 2,5-3-3-7 but I need 2.85v for stability...is thar a problem?!
I get DDR600 3dMark06 stable (3-4-4-8) but it's not stable for prime or superpi and I'm afraid to raise the voltages.
Im have the same problem. I can't get my G.Skill LE's stable at anything above 250 2.5-3-3-7-1T 1:1.Quote:

My Opty is stable at 270x10 with 1.4v running a divider. Any help getting these stable at least at stock (2.5-3-3-7-1T 275HTT) would be appreciated :D.
Hi, im going for DDR600 Fully Stable with My Mushkin XP4400
(TCCD)
And i can run Memtest Test #5 10 times without errors... but in test #8 Errors apear (3 or 4 errors whole test)
I can boot into Windows But i cant even run SP1MB

@ ~2,9v
That is my timming configuration..
Can you help me getting DDR600 Fully Stable.. Im kinda Noob with A64 (first rig)
using DFI Expert with last bios... memory has active cooling...
dinos, my FF pair wont even do 300MHz 2.5-4-4-8 1T 32M SuperPI with same settings as your pic. RMA'ing them tomorrow.
you have to spend more time tweaking.......i couldn't get any speed stable for a week....any speed...until i figured it out with some help from eva2000Quote:

well i have been tweaking for over a month, gs tech has tried to help and it wont be stable. i would think, and hope, with stock settings it would be stable, its not.
hopefully my rma pair will be better.
oh man that's no good.....1 month and no results would be frustratingQuote:

the new set i got i slapped it straight in at 275 and it was fine out of the box....so yeah it really shouldn't be that hard to get it stable at stock i reckon
Kakaroto will post a new Guide how to get your TCCD at DDR600 2.5-3-3-7 with 24/7 stability. Please watch the bandwidth section closely.Quote:

I have read your previous posts and if your serial is faded it is still RMA worthy. What matters is that the warranty sticker is not removed.Quote:
