I'll try that bios, got a link for it? As for fsb, I've tried taking out the 512mb stick, but does not help in stability, I keep crashing on 244+ fsbs, and I cannot get 2 volts to be stable either, using 1.95v to run benchies works fine. The ram can go above 250 fsb.
I'll try going for 23k tomorrow, I've hit 22903 but can't publish it, maybe I can get it to publish tomorrow.

srry if this has been answered b4, but does this work best with cards with sammy 2.8ns ram? thats what I have and I was wondering whether I should give it a try, or just stick with the original. :rolleyes:

I haven't been able to bench due to the high temps in Vancouver right now, its scorching hot, I don't think I can get very high fsbs.
My goal is to get 250x11 to work, that will give me a nice score.

Great score, but whats with the crazy high nature score in comparison to everything else? I dont own nvidia card so is that normal??

Yeah, that's "normal" because I used the 44.03 drivers and they have some optmisations for the nature test. I use these drivers because everyone else on the ORB with high nvidia 3dmark2001 scores use them.

Wow, *normal* sounds very very fishy, maybe ati owners should run the benchmark in 16 bit mode

The gap between nature test and the rest is just stupendous

i'd say 2.8+ghz on air is more unusual than the nature scores

Nah, 2.8Ghz on air is possible with a good chip and excellent aircooling. I did it too.

The nature score and the carchase low scores are both high though, but I'm not crying foul, because it is a different vid card at the end of the day.

Nature is high compared to ATi cards, not compared to other nv cards. For example: Here's one with a PC cooled P4EE and also the 44.03 drivers

That's almost 200 fps on nature.

2.8Ghz is not that high for the new mobiles, even on air. I had a delta and a tornado blowing over my sp97 to keep it cool.

What should make you wonder the most however, is the high core clock on the FX5900XT. It comes with a stock clock of 390Mhz and I managed to squeeze 650 out of it. A voltmod and a SLK900 cooler + tornado were needed though ;)

HaLDoL, you must have a fine card their, im awaiting RMA on my 2nd 9800 card, it luck of the draw if u get a beaut of a crad or not, something im sure you are aware of. My first 9800 was very nice, hoping to have better luck on my next one.

hey guys, well I finally tried the gigacube bios, and at the end of the whole flash, the last thing it said was something like "68543 bytes of 68543 bytes completed". (im not 100% sure thats what it said)

I didnt get any error messages or anything. so my question is, how do I know if the flash was successful and my card has the gigacube bios?

if you go to adapter or option tab on the display property, it will tell you the BIOS ID. If you don't remember what your BIOS ID was and see one now, you wouldn't be able to tell which is which. :D

another way, check the default clock speeds shown in the rad clocker/linker in the display property. The clocks should be at 390/350 IIRC. That means the Gigacuby has taken effect.

sweet, its actually at 398/350. I guess thats just the default for the bios. thnx

Just put it in, boot & flash just like the usual :)
There's a setting in BISO called "Init display first". It's set to PCI by default, but if you've changed it to AGP, after installing the PCI card you'll still get only color lines. If that's the case, just reset CMOS and you're done.
EDIT: I also had a bad flash with the GigaCube BIOS... hm...

i did the same thing that I did before, but it said something about the bios doesnt fit the vga card. I think it was trying to flash the pci card or sumthing. :rolleyes:

Force flash by using

atiflash -f -p 0 <your BIOS file name>

(this is if you're flashing with Atiflash of course).

EDIT: rookiekiller, I want to help you but there isn't much I can do for you. It's a great score though, and even greater FSB & timings :D

wow I figured it out. Flashrom 1.6 was the culprit. for some reason it didnt let me force the flash. I tried flashrom 1.3, and bam, it worked first try. got the card working fine now.

moral of the story: dont use flashrom 1.6 :rolleyes:

I did all the mods :D ;)

Maybe you should try an XT bios for 128MB cards (hynix), but only if you have an R360.

I also wonder what bios is best for XT cards with 256MB hynix 2.5ns....

I'm now gonna take off the stock heatsink in order to mount my Silencer, and I'll also check out the core. I am 95% sure it's a R360, like pretty much all 9800Pros atm (my old 9800Pro was 5-6 months old and had a R360 core...)

It's a crap overclocking R350 core, paired with an average overclocking Hynix mem :mad:

My XT did stock 474/400 artefact free (MCW50-T) with ATItool :)

Not bad IMO, but my cooling is more like a warming ;)

No.... it's a 3dmark bug... somehow I always get 200 fsb in the compare url :D
it was done with 245 fsb but with catalyst 4.8
Unmodded DFI Infinity and unmodded 9800pro, gonna try 500 core soon but as I said then the max is 385 for the mem, IF I don't want artifacts ;)
I tried 248 fsb but got the 'detected cpu speed variation' stuff.. can't publish, it was 22k4... ah well a little vmodding should solve it right? ;)
