do any of you guys know if the koolance vid nx580 would fit for a gigabyte GV-N580UD-15I??? (since evga has failed my rma, sending me back the same faulty card..)
thanks buddy, :D i already own an evga wich goes smooth at 1ghz on the core, i know that by using 2 580 in sli is more difficult to reach those high clocks, but ... if you have tried your UD580 with the koolance block wich wich was your highest clock (yes i know that it depends from each card but i want to know that the same. :D)
Hmm having some issues with my cards.
I don't go over 60c under full load but as soon as the cards hit 60c the display driver crashes, it happens without fail.
Clocks are at 970/2400 1188mv
I have tried using gpu-z with the /gtx500ocp switch but that hasn't seemed to make a difference, any advice would be appreciated.
Previously I could hit 1000 on the cores with the 3 cards in there but since moving up to 4 and hitting that 60c i just get the failed display driver error.
I would think thats a fine clock for quad
great clocks cole!:D

Cowie, are you able to take the Vgpu higher than 1.2V through Afterburner?
no but i use a trick with my lightings and hawks...ab sets voltage to +W/E mv on lightnings/hawks..
now there is nothing stopping you form using nvi to add 1.16-1.21v before you use ab right?
so up to 1.40v can be added combining the two softwares on the 580 lightnings.
DONT USE THIS TRICK ON AIRCOOLING OR NON CHILLED WATERCOOLING
use at your own risk
i have killed 2-3 460 hawks like this all fried vrm's at 1.30v even on sub zero
besides i think that ab will let us start doing rt type soft mods i think not sure.
release notes ab b5

I dunno it feels a little weak, I would of thought I had another good 20c of overhead before I started running into heat issues.
Just out of interest what apps are you using to push the voltage past the afterburner 1213mv limit, I see you mention something called nvi.
Cheers in advance
its hard to get really high clocks in quad no matter what the cooling is so i think you have very good clocks.
if your referance non lightning max is 1.21ish software no matter what..
NVI is orbmu2k's gem app nvidia inspector or nvi as i called it sry.
edit
Oh and you maybe have two 1000watter psu's?...cus you might need it...there maybe a chance your power could be the limiting factor too, with that much vga power at hand....just saying not knowing.
thanks
keep up the good work cole
no i think you need to hard mod(vid mod) that brand of card if you want more.
trick only works with cards ab sets +mv ei:+200mv not numbered voltage setting like 1.135 1.165 ect.
like if i have a 560ti hawk i would put a pot on it for sub zero cooling
Then i use nvi for say 1.21v open up msi ab and add +150mv,so 1.21v + 150mv =1.37v :D
cant do that with any other referance card
to add from my edit from last post
you maybe have two 1000watter psu's?...cus you might need it...there maybe a chance your power could be the limiting factor too, with that much vga power at hand....just saying not knowing.
u measured the voltage ? i can go until 1050 core clock with these
guys so how are your 580s doing this summer ? :)

so my evga got death after changing thermal grease and thermal pad... that suck's a lot, i've Rmad it , btw i've got a zotac, pretty much better than evga!
980mhz with just 1.125v ..... this one i think can go at 1.ghz easier than the previous evga...

EVGA does not return the same card to anyone on an RMA, ever. Did the card you received have the same SN? Does it have some distinguishing marking that you can use to prove it is the exact same physical card? EVGA's policy is that any card that is received is placed into a bin for testing, and one that has already been tested and repaired and tested again is sent out for RMA. Therefore, if you have experiencing the exact same problem with the replacement card, then the problem was not in the card in the first place. Have you tried contacting EVGA to see if there is anything they can do to help?
I've got my 580 running at 925/1850/2035 with 1.088v. I'm pretty sure I could go higher though. She never goes higher than 52 under load.

Hello, Try using Nvidia Inspector to bump volts and you will get an increase with AB. Just be careful using/with good cooling. I can go to at least 1.4vgpu with my 580ltng. Also multimeter is your friend.
you can't be that sure, since the fact happens to me. EVGA DID TURN ME BACK THE SAME FAULTY GTX580 that i sent to them as RMA. either u believe it or not. it was the same one, the same problem, the same package! The dealer give me back the whole money, purposly kill the 580 and send it back for the second time for RMA. after that they give him a new one.
So what should I trust for reading voltages, Afterburner of GPU-Z/AIDA64? Afterburner shows .08V higher than GPU-Z.
You should only trust DMM. :D (with fresh batteries)
is it inspector more accurate than afterburner to increase volts ? or the same ?
is the just the same

hello
need an opinion here.
what is the best choice
a reference EVGA GTX580 with EK waterblock, or an Asus GTX580 DCUII
both at the same price for example.
you can resell the dcu2 alot higher
Would depend if you watercool and want the card watercooled - I could have bought a DCuII but IMO they're no better than a reference card unless you're subzero cooling and I wanted it WC so the choice was easy. By the time I resell either card would be worth perhaps $100 anyway so I could care less what the resale value is - blocks never fetch much used so once you WC a component you're kinda committed to keep it awhile. If you only keep components a short time and resale matters to you then yeah, DCuII would be the better choice.
ya.
thanks
Anyway, I ended up with the evga with block
have advantages in temps and possibly in the OC.
and how I intend to do SLI, so takes up less slots and helps in temperatures later.
And it looks way better ;)
So after getting my vanilla evga GTX 580 a few days back, I have been trying to overclock, and with decent system airflow along with low ambient temps, I have tested upto 950/1900/4200 with voltage @ 1.15v and load temps never going over 74C. My question was what are safe 24/7 voltages running this card on its stock heatsink (I will redo the tim today or tomo), and can I go higher, cause right now I'm limited by the cards bios (I cant select any voltage over 1.15v), the above clocks are not 100% stable and I think if the voltage was a notch higher and the clocks could be 100% stable.
Everything's on air within a tiny case:

Sorry didn't see this until today.
I have an ln2 pot attached to this card for 1.3+vc. On my Lightening, using the software NI in combo with AB, so far not very cold (-75~-90c), I run benches at 1200+ like yourself and many others I've seen here. Start at 1.36~1.38vc and 1.4vc will hit on my MM under high load.
Yes it's my HTPC :) I wish it could serve me until Ivy Bridge.

Sadly I still suffer from lag spikes / stuttering while playing Minesweeper :( I think I'll have to overclock it more to see if it improves... If not, I better off upgrade some parts with it... But now I'm short of cash seriously

Got Zotac Amp Edition cards, one card with vid 1.0v and another with 1.038v, and both cards can do 3d Mark 11 @ 950/4200 @ 1.15v (completely stable @ 1.175v), and came for $860 after Mir :D

the card is a zotac reference.... pretty better than my previous evga reference ....
Thats a sweet overclock, are u on water? My evga reference was also trash, couldn't even get to 950 on core with 1.213v, even their hydro coppers aren't hitting good clocks from what I have heard, and their classified's aren't binned either, wonder what has changed, the evga 280 SSC's I had both seemed like they could do better then most vanilla's.
yes i'm on water, the first good evga i got was able to close any bench with 1.002mhz 1.150v ..... the second one, was faulty, sent back to evga, they sent me back the same one. OK... (long and sad story.... ) hardly disappointed , i bought another one, was a nice crap 940mhz with 1.125, and even by pushing the voltage to 1.138v wasn't usefull to pass 940mhz .. finally got tired of evga and i bought this zotac wich does 990mhz with 1.125v. and 1012 mhz with 1.150v :)
^^^ nice

sweet setup, I have almost everything similar, and I dint know that you were running your cards on air, I'm planning to put the cards under water, but right now I dont need overclocking, most games play fine even with both cards running around 700mhz, I'm actually trying to undervolt the cards a bit, still waiting for games that will push the setup :)
i recently got the MSI GTX 580 lightning extreme and i was able to run the core at 925/1850/4500, but now i no longer can run havean, 3dmark 11 with those settings. even with volts up to 1.15v. but i can run them at 900/1800/4500 with 1.065v no problems. going to be getting another lightning extreme for SLI soon.
Anyone w/ a Lightning ever mess w/ the overclocking switches on the card?
i thought those setting are for DICE and LN2. they overvolt, remove the cold bug, and over current protection. im scared to mess with them.

thank you my friend! nice setup you got there! cheers!
well after output capacitance modded/increased now its running at 975/2400 at the same voltage and avg fps increased to 180 in heaven v2.5 per above ^ but min and max fps is still disappointing.. will have to recap the whole input capacitance per my 1.5gig 580s.. not done yet ill keep shootin for higher :)

Sorry for the offtopic, but what do you guys use to test the stability of your cards OC mem / gpu ? I have been runnin the OCCT tests for mem and GPU not sure if its the best thing to test the stability with or not , it sure gets the card super hot and stuff and is handy with its error report, so anyways any ideas would be helpful
So guys which brand/model 580 clocks the best? Do any 3GB ones clock well?Im on water if that helps.
:)
^the gigabyte reference (blue pcb) can clock just as well as the 1.5gigers^
anyone out there willing to share a voltage unlocked afterburner or voltage unlocked 3gb reference bios ?
im sick and tired of this 1.213v limit
anyone ?
what u mean friend ? last time i tried that on one of my vid 1.0 cards mem wont go anymore above 2200...artifacted and guess that went wrong now i sold it and get another 1.0vid and both cards do easy 981/4600 at 1.163. but wont take them above too scared that happens the same
im on air, never passed 66C on them
cheers !
Sergio
Have you got any examples to share??
As Andres said I have a ref 580 that I bench above 1.213 on water but its not happy for gaming any more with some artifacting and crashing, so beware. Mine is on water, never been above 45 degrees cranked and loaded.
:)
glad it worked out
i need more voltage :) being on liquid cooling 1.213 is not all that much.. no artifacts here just not enough voltage
next week ill be getting a bigger radiator/an extra pump so temps will be around 40-45C at full load as is so ill be able to push even further
examples? i got results of 3 of them in 3way sli @ post # 377.. bf3 @ post # 383
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=1#post4979430
Cool, what volts for 975mhz? You reckon maybe benchable at 1ghz with more volts?
from your other post Im guessing they are maxed at 1.213 right?
i play at 900/4600 @ 1.075 on air and temps playing BF3 all ultra 1920x1080 never goes up 60C playing for hours and ambient its 25C
cheers to all
Sergio
24/7 stable already been doing some benching @ 1ghz.. when i clock @ 1000/2300 i get much better performance than what you guys see above @ bf3 ^^ but in order to sustain 1ghz and that kind of performance it needs more juice
1.213v @ 975mhz.. i hope you guys take into consideration that this is a 3way sli.. each card can do 1ghz easy by themselves.. even 2way sli
the extra waterblock.. bunch more 90s.. and the radiator into the loop ive lost much (2/3 if not more) of the pressure and flow i used to have @ 1.5gb 2way sli
thats why im getting another rd30 pump for the radiator to separate into their own loop.. still contemplating whether to get a bigger rad but if i do ill be able to do even greater loads/clocks
that sux for less than 400$ you can get 3x wb shipped next day here in the us
i can only suggest.. come to america!! :)
well looks like ill have to do the hard vmod.. i only asked cause i didnt want to remove the cards and go thru all the painstaking steps but ill have to once again
@NapalmV5
With your 3-way 580 SLI and a 2560x1440 resolution, you can run everything ULTRA or even 2x MSAA. Why are you having it on HIGH? :)
high? you mean post aa ? yeh looks like i forgot to turn it off.. oh well that probably takes a couple/few fps here and there
i prefer higher rez i hate aa.. ever since its infancy its been crap
