here it is.
I have a feeling were gonna need to create a 450 bios thread.
EDIT: just a warning, this is the first 450 BIOS iv'e modded, so whoever try's it first is the guinea pig, if it bricks your card, you did it at your own risk..

@Gaul: Please report back let me know if it worked.
If it works I'll start a 450 bios mod thread, if not then I wont bother.
450 bios thread here
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=260220
Here is vBIOS from Sparkle GTX 460 1GB, card is that newer revision with purple fan.
Is it possible to make a few changes to this BIOS?
- Default fanspeed 30%
- Max fanspeed to 100%
- Max voltage limit 1.2v
No need for other modifications.
Thanks CrazyNutz!
One question about flashing with nvflash: It apparently supports only .rom files so is it ok to just rename bios file from bios.bin to bios.rom?
I Have an EVGA GTX460 sc 768mb. I know that someone has post this bios. But i dont see them in de first post. I only see an EVGA GTX460 1Gb.
Did i miss it? Can anyone explain it. Tanx
Upload your BIOS and I'll mod and add it to the list. Just a oversight.

Does anyone have a newest TOP 1GB bios?
My card OC's at 900MHz with 1.100v, but the memory sucks .... @2100MHz it crashes.
Is any way to increase the vMEM on the GTX460?
Thanks.
J
Have you tried lowering your GPU clock to say 875 and seeing if the memory will go higher?
I do not swear but I think I tested the mem with the GPU @ default .... must try it tonight again.
I think this memory sucks bad ... anyone can pull 2100 / 2200 on other boards :(
But you are saying that because it could be the GPU ? Do you thing increasing the GPU voltage beyond 1.1v will help the mem?
The mem voltage is hardware controled ?
Increasing GPU voltage won't help the memory, but the memory controller is built into the GPU. Relaxing the GPU OC a bit could well give you a memory frequency bump. I run my GTX460 @ 855/2.25GHz 1.075v for 24/7 use and its scores are easily comparable to a GTX470. I wish sometimes I bought a faster stock clocked GPU so hopefully I would of got a card with less leakage, but 855/2.25 isn't exactly slow.
If you increase your GPU speed and voltage, your memory will become unstable at 2.25?
No. For me theres just no practical gains that outweigh the heat output. Both GTX460s I have tested (KFA and Asus) both OCd exactly the same on the same voltage. So its fairly safe to assume some kind of binning process is going on with higher stock clocked GPUs being able to OC further. Anyway I'd start by resetting your cards OC, setting voltage to 1.075, and seeing how far your memory will clock with the GPU letf stock. If you can get it up to about 4200/4300 youre doing alright. From there see how far your GPU will OC before crapping out. My moneys on about 840-860MHz.
Ill try that late tonight ;)
But 840-860/4200-4300 will have a better performance vs 900/4000 ? What do you think?
At higher resolutions and games that use high res textures 850/4200 or thereabouts should do better than 900/4000 as high res textures require more memory, and obviously as you can't add memory to a graphics card the next best thing is to make the memory faster so those high res textures can get flushed faster when their not needed.
Wrong. Set your core clock to say 880MHz and your memory at 4GHz, now run the GPU tests in something like vantage at max resolution with AA/AF, then do the same thing again only with your memory at 4.25GHz. You will get a 200-300pts GPU score increase. At 880/4000 the card is starting to get bandwidth limited for higher resolutions.
Like I said it depends on what you are doing.
Textures need mem/mem bandwidth
Shading/Geometry/Filters/Tess/Physx/etc. need Core/Shader Clock
I find in general, that GPU core/shader clock brings the largest gains.
Have a look. At 900mhz core 4000 mem, with only 22% mem controller load, hmm, looks like I have a buttload left over.
Same thing at higher res with 4xFSAA
And the memory is full at max resolution.
You can't ignore bandwidth. Like I already said with high resolution and high quality textures the card being able to shift those textures in and out of the frame buffer faster will have more of a benefit. As your screenshot shows, your memory buffer is almost full @ 842MB. A faster memory speed will help smooth out minimum FPS when new textures are being loaded in.
If you look at "Memory Controller Load" It is low, and at most it's 37% with the highest resolutions.
Memory controller load is in direct correlation with available Memory bandwidth.
Only 37% load means the bandwidth is not even close to being saturated.
And to prove to you this, run a 3d app i.e. heaven in window mode, as it's running drop your mem clock and you will see your "Memory controller load" go up.
Ket, you were rigth .... it was the gpu OC that is the limiting factor of the mem OC!
At 900MHz my mem couldn't get stable at 2100 even at 1.1vGPU.
I tested 860/2100@1.025v and guess what ... :
http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/8...gbheave.th.png
870/4400@1.100v:

900/4000@1.100v:
http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/8...gbheave.th.png
The +400MHz in the memory vs loosing 30MHz in the GPU doesn't compensate !
Um no kidding! Thats the point I was trying to get across.
Get the most out of your GPU clock first, then go for memory clock! Not the other way around like ket was telling you.
The memory on the 460 1gb is not bandwidth limited by any means, not even at stock, and high resolution.
Rasing the memory will only help bring down latency, wich is good but not to the point where it starts limiting your max gpu clock
My GPU is pretty mutch in it's OC limit.
I'm testing it at 930MHz@1,200v now...
930/2000@1.200v:
http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/8...gbheave.th.png
Thats the end of the line of my TOP 1GB ;)
At 940@1,2v it crashes.
2000 is the stock speed of this mem.
Can it be underclocked ?
It can be underclocked, however I doubt it would help, you can always try.
I think I notice a trend where the recent 460's are not clocking as well. I could be wrong but I have a feeling that Nvidia is cherry picking the best of the gf104 cores for their next release to try and combat the up and coming ATI 6xxx series.
I would suggest for you to stick with gpu @ 900mhz 1.1v and mem at 4000 for normal use
Yes 900/4000@1.1v is the sweet spot on this vga.
Thank you all ;)
your welcome:up:
Im running my SLI at 885mhz /1.1v and its really flying in games !
Running 5760x1080 and mafia2 is running at 60fps most of the time. Lowest seen is 45fps.
Out of curiosity, why won't my 460 GTX run at 100% GPU load and give me more FPS in games ? I've checked and it's using only about 60% GPU and 50% mem...
If it ran at full power I would be at about 50-60 FPS...but as it is I'm at 30 FPS D:
What game, or 3d app are you experiencing this in?
And what cpu do you have, and at what clock? You could be limited by your cpu.
Also what is your 460? Make/model (i.e. 1gb, or 768mb?)
I had this low GPU usage problem with my palit sonic in BFBC2 and it was fixed by a bios update, and forceware 260.xx
Well that kinda sucks..
It's FFXIV and I've noticed this phenomenon in BFBC2 too..
I run at 2560X1600 so yeah... I have the 1 GB version clocked at 880/4600 @ 1.087vcore... pretty awesome bin I got if I do say so myself, highest I've seen in the thread so far.
I'll try updating from 258.96 to 260.XX
What 460 do you have, i.e. Palit/evga/msi/etc...?
And Its not because the game doesn't utilize it. Trust be BCBF2 will use it. There is a problem.
My Palit did this until a bios update was released for my card, and I started using 260.xx
It was driving me nuts beacause it had alot of stutter too.
Also post your bios I think I know what causes this phenomenon, I may be able to fix it.
also mine does 900mhz with 1.075v super stable
post my bios ?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...5&d=1285912390
That...
I increased the voltage to 1.2vcore but I couldn't even squeeze anymore performance out of it....it seems it doesn't want to respond to voltages higher than 1.087... :(
Using a leadtek 1 GB...
Using the 260.XX now, performance is better but I still find it lacking...
Just picked up a Palit GTX460 768MB for cheapness. 900/1800/2025(4050Mhz) @ 1.087mV

Ket, can you do your magic voltage unlock goodness with this please? :)
@TheTrap: Oops! Here is your new bios.
no no, you modded the bios for me already, I could increase the voltage, but the card doesn't seem to want to go any higher >_<
the bios I linked you to was the pre-modded one.
Since you mentioned you have an idea what was causing this problem I thought it didn't matter whether I posted the modded one or not D:
Q6600 at 3.4 GHz, nowhere near load though.
CPU usage is around the 40-50% mark.
No idea why won't the GPU use all it's resources when it's clearly GPU bound and not CPU bound.
Try using 4x FSAA, if your not doing so yet, That has helped smooth game play for me in BFBC2. I know.. I know.. you would think It should slow it down, but I have seen performance increase on some systems. Also by rasing your eyecandy you should see your GPU Load go over 50%
Doesn't work for me. Although now I have bigger worries, my second 460 is not being utilised at all lol >_>
Hello I like to request the Zotac GTX 460 768 MB Bios to modded please,
I've attached it here thanks. :p:
^ File currupt when I try to extract. Might wanna try backing up your bios again, or compressing it.
EDIT...
nvm, my error.
Hi CrazyNuts.
I have a GTS 450 BIOS and i want to know is if possible to get it unlocked because im touching 1000mhz but i need a little more voltage to get it stable.
Edit: I see the thread for 450GTS BIOS Request ;) Moving my BIOS to the other one.
Hi ket
Yesterday received a MSI GTX460 HAWK Talon with with hynix 1250MHz GDDR5.
Wanna Share its bios
http://www.mediafire.com/file/bkgz4x...WK%20Talon.zip
I can't flash my zotac 460 AMP
it says "nvflash didn't found any nvidia device" or something like that
any ideas?
you need a newer version of nvflash.
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...r_Windows.html
So I uploaded my bios.
It is from an EVGA GTX460 765MB Superclocked with free performance boost.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I4WRG3QL
^^^^^
With voltage limit increased to 1.2125v if anyone wants/needs it.
I felt like trying to do this again, but like everytime I try I end up pulling my hair out trying to find USB boot disk drivers, and google search turns up page after page after page of useless guides that dont really help with trying to create a USB boot disk.
I'm using Winsows 7 and have a 2 gb USB drive. Surely creating a USB bootdisk should be easy as eating cake by now, but the cake is a lie!
:(
I flash via windows for an easy life, never had an issue.
There's an easy-to-follow guide over at OCNET if you can't get dos mode sorted and wanna give it a try.
http://www.overclock.net/nvidia-driv...g-modding.html
Seeing as I'm literally about to throw my USB stick at my monitor in frustration over spending many many days trying to make a bootable USB disk, I'll try to flash in Windows instead.
I cant believe how impossible it is to find a boot image iso file.
It worked using the cmd prompt, they run with no artifacts or problems at 950 Mhz now, but 1000 Mhz was covered with atrifacts so I'll try testing 975 Mhz next :)
nooooo, vantage ends up failing anywhere over 925 Mhz.
I just screened for artifacts before, it turns out that these cards hitting 78 degrees is too much.
I can run at 900 Mhz @ 1.125v and the temp only goes up to 66 degrees ... thats only 10 Mhz more than I could manage before. It seems that they need to be kept below 70 degrees to keep them stable over 900 Mhz.
I think that SLI buggers overclocking on these cards maybe :(
I get the same, I need to keep my cards below 60c for one of them to stable @ 900+, the other is happy up to about 80c @ 960MHz... O_o
This is what you need.
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197
and make sure you get the "Windows 98 system files" there is a link to them on the same page.
Not sure if it has been posted yet, but is is possible to unlock the fan speed lock on other manufacturers besides eVGA?
Could anyone please share a EVGA FTW bios?
Thanx!
Hi ket here's the bios for my ECS GTX460 1Gb Black with default oc of 765/1530/3700. Not sure if you're still collecting these though.
Hi sorry to trouble you but can you unlock the fan speed to 100% with vcore limit to 1212mv please? The vcore limit is easy to modify but I can't find any editor out there that can modify the fan cap limit of 70%.
Thanks very much :)
ha just uploaded my Black too and want the same two mods :D
http://www.2shared.com/file/jPTmVaJl...1GB_BLACK.html
its a shame we have these two huge silent fans and can only get to 70% speed
skier your BIOS , enjoy it
http://www.2shared.com/file/CVht9QeV/skier_460BIOS.html
steve258 , unlock the fan speed to 100% with vcore limit to 1.212v
http://www.2shared.com/file/C0uCp-MJ...8_460BIOS.html
Works like a charm! :)
Thanks very much.
gtx460 ftw. I need it modded. :) I changed the bin extension. Send me a PM with email if changing the extension is a no go.
can you please unlock the voltage in this bios pls? just unlock, no change on clocks or default voltage:) (palit 1gb )
thanx!
Also thank you Vern for making a modded bios for me. :buddies: thanks buddy
thanks vern just finally flashed mine, running 1.1v and 90% fan speed for 900 core and 1800 shader for folding :D
:D works beautifully, first time 900mhz, more to come
