good, so it's not just me...like i said p95 :banana::banana::banana::banana:-ed off for me at anything and ANY voltage except stock and even then no less than 70 on this 550 for me...
:(:(
somethin about that ht i remember rajaja sayin...:shrug::shrug:
if This is the temps i can hardly wait for i7 in 4 weeks....jeesus
edit 100C??!!!
good thing this is cheap cpu...;);)
yea i'm totally unconcerned though. i'm sure my dad won't be crashing this pc with his intense free cell gaming addiction. i am rather jealous though. i'd like to go grab my apogee xt and hook it up to this thing.
that's probably the cooling you would need when it comes to anything Intel with HT...:shakes::shakes::shakes:
I LIKED my red scorpion so i am gonna spring for dark knight with the 1156 bracket...sadly can't afford a true or that "mega" deal...at this time
well instead of just tinkering around with the new toy i set in for some more serious overclocking and some traditional stability testing. i ran p95 for about 30 minutes @ 200x20 (4ghz) /w 1.28v max temp reading was 70C. i'm pretty set on running 200 bclk, as it allows my cheap memory to run 1600 and with initial testing i couldn't get past 215 bclk. i may re-address this later, but for now 200 is where its at. gonna go for some bigger numbers and let p95 go overnight. hopefully have some ss in the morning.
edit* up to 80C at 4.2 ghz 1.31v
sounds familiar except mine runs 80c no matter what:(:(:(
got me a hot one...so you can pretty much forget about Prime 95...:shakes::shakes::shakes:
edit: i think when i set up the i7 chip i'm gonna use the T.R.U.E. heatsink and stick a 5000 RPM fan on it...or maybe even 2...
something like this here...
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...e=Thermalright
http://img.ncix.com/images/55703_l.jpg
maybe.... although i may be limited to the dark knight for now...
sounds like a very good idea. i don't know what good fans are out now, but i have a 92mm vantec tornado that used to go on my slk-800u and it pushed some serious air. maybe my dad will let me revive it for a weekend of benching, but i seriously doubt. when i lived with him he called it the hoover. thing was so loud that you could hear it in the basement when my pc was on 2nd floor.
lol:ROTF: on the 2nd floor??? thank you:up::up::up:
nice to hear i wasn't the only one
edit: just atempted another overclock using every possible combination suggested, and what i have learned from forums and still 4.2 is the absolute limit of this crap...and even then i don't dare attempt to run Prime or the Fire Department will be coming awfully soon... so there you go....
well on the bright side, as usable as it is at 4.2 at least i can almost match my Q9550 at 4.0ghz for power...
not bad for only 150.00... not a total loss anyway and a SEVERE step up from my E5400...
lets just hope the 870 or 875 K i plan to chuck in this thing ain't of the same quality...
http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/4...aluebarely.png
Enjoy!!
edit: yeah, what i said earlier... i be getting the DARK KNIGHT since i know Xigmatek, it's relatively cheap and cooled all my Quads sufficiently...just hope the temps from Quad to i7 HT don't scale the way they did when i went from E5400 to i3 550....(upwards i mean) ;););)
Considering this cpu i couldn't have put it any better...:rofl:Quote:

especially if i have dreams o runnin i7 on it.......
edit:lol... maybe i can find one of those ones they use on vehicles...:rolleyes::rolleyes:
My God!!! there may be a bright side yet....:eek::eek::eek:
Managed to get it to hold it's water for a serious video encoding job at 4.2 ghz without temps going too insane on me
Full Load - Max 68 Celsius - average 65 overall at full load on all 4 "cores"
good enough for now....
will be adding all i can afford for now: a Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2.0 1156 cpu cooler for now...
http://www.computeronline.com.au/ima...703/7612_3.jpg
easier to get this now and save the dark knight for later when i can afford it
besides this will allow me to get the i7 875K Unlocked CPU which may well guarantee me a slightly EASIER 4.0ghz...than if i bought just a 860 or 870...
i guess intel is doing the best they can - but this 550 should never have left the factory to be honest...
anyways...it'll do since no one else wants it either - now i'lll just work on seeing how low i can get the voltages and everything - but after what i witnessed on the weekend i don't hold out much hope...
http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/2261/improved.png
anyways got the same time in encoding as a 775 quad at 4.0ghz and my thuban x6 at 3.6ghz...previously my best time was 15 minutes - but running it at 4.2 seems to do the trick...
http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/4576/quadcoresa.jpg
my only question is now if i got as much power as a real quad at 3.8-4.0ghz for encoding, then what do i even need i7 for????
well-i'm hoping it will shave my encoding time down to like 8 maybe 6 minutes if i can get it to run at 4.0-4.2ghz without the Fire Department having to make a call...:rofl::rofl::rofl:
68 is nothing - push it some more.
I was 79 in my original post above, #276.
Go for at least 4.4ghz...
And for $8 more at NCIX get this instead of the 92mm AC Freezer Pro:
Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus Direct Touch 4 Heatpipe Heatsink
http://images.hardwarecanucks.com/im...212P/i7_38.jpg
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=41337
Some good news also on the cooler front - i can get the hyper 212 locally for the same as ncix - about the same since i pay pst in province but the shipping for ncix woulda made it the same i'm afraid...
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...2%28ME%29.aspx
these are just a few of the local folks i deal with for pc parts...
these guys are good though - prices arent't unreasonable like with some other locals who shall remain nameless...
anyways i''ll pick this up tomorrow on my way out...never was impressed with my last freezer 7 - felt like just a slight tad better than the stock cooler - to be honest...
i have been to 4.4 and booted once at 4.5 - but the vcore requirements seem to go up EXPONENTIALLY immediately after 4.2ghz...at least on this one anyway...
i'd hate to think what it truly would require for 4.8 ghz stable (200x24) which obviously is why i've never tried it...
although according to my research last week that was supposed to be a given....especially on this higher model...but we'll just laugh that one off...
i know i have:confused::confused:
which is why i'm commencing my research on i7 875K batches now so this doesn't occur again:up::up::up:
edit: thank you posting that i7 comparison with the newer chart... that's much more convincing - i may be able to actually use this with an 875K after all...
DEFINITELY WORTH IT FOR ONLY 8.00$ MORE
I SEEM to remember using this setting or close to this on the weekend...it was stable for a little while... but it couldn't even finish THE BILL GATES WINDOWS INDEX...and when it did run temps were well into the 70's and if we're talking actual cpu core it self more like 80-85 i'm afraid...
http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/3...velystable.png
i probably could just get away with this for 24/7 with a hyper 212 but i need this cpu to last until precisely January the 7th...at which time i'll be slapping a 875K in 'er...
i put a ad up in the locals - if it sells and someone doesn't mind a 24/7 STOCK cpu then i'll grab a new 530 for 110.00 maybe even chip in the additional 20.00 bucks needed...
but i'd rather just consider this a write off, take 4.2 and invest in the serious lynnfield with the unlocked multiplier...
i figure buy buying the "enthusiast one" they offer for 1156 at least i stand half a chance of getting 4.0ghz stable without having to heap on an abominable amount of vcore - as has been the case with this sub-standard 550
well i though i had something there - i even jacked it up to 1.45 to ensure stability and hiked the vtt to the safe max and well
you get the idea...
Bill Gates at his finest....:clap::clap::clap:
http://bsods.com/wp-content/uploads/...GATES-bsod.jpg
http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/3...dows7crash.jpg
i'll let you know if i even dare 4.3-4.4 again with the cooler tomorrow
until then
Enjoy
edit: i think considering this most recent attempt - i think 4.2ghz will be more than adequate...
if i want more i guess i better just buy a better cpu..
EDIT: nothing at 1.47 vcore either...
edit2: Gigabyte AUTO says it needs 1.52 to be stable at 4.4ghz - and now that i've seen it that may well actually be the case...
at first i thought it was wrong...but considering what i just witnessed...:shrug::shrug::shrug:
i think it may be best to accept my initial minimal achievement of 4.2 ht stable and focus on gettiing a better cpu...clearly rhis chip has a hard limit and idon't know what happened but all i can say is something went SEVERELY wrong in the binning process...either that or it was a return...but until january basic quad-core power is good enough...
Core i3 540 L025B058 4370MHz @ 1.48V
I decided to try something small and hideous for overclocking... ECS H55H-M :)
http://www.pahing.com/wp-content/upl...ECS-H55H-M.jpg
Despite the price and lack of settings it managed to perform very good.
I managed to get max bclk of 190 MHz
CPU-Frequency 4370 @ 1.48V
DDR 1900 8-8-8-20
I was able todo this just by setting
CPU/VTT +0.2
DDR +0.13
CPU/Vcore +0.2
The actual frequency is 4370 @ 1.48V
http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww15/koev87/cine.jpg
http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww15/koev87/fry.jpg
http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/w...apImage6-1.jpg
Even when overclocked the energy saving functions worked fine, the voltages are stable, just the bclk plays a bit,but it'snot a big deal.
Unfortunately here's what it actually takes to even get into Windows at 4.5...
i'll admit it's nice and quick - but even my E8600 only needed 1.43vcore to pass stability tests at 4.5....
http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/2017/kjjlhj.png
This thing needs no less than 1.48 vcore probably more in the neighbourhood of 1.50-1.51 to actually pass a stability test...
needless to say i didn't leave it there - cause i need this crap for 4 more weeks... if i can somehow swing a i7 chip on top of this i'll take it to 1.55 vcore and kill it - just to see how many weeks/days it lasts... but until then i'm limited to about 4.2-4.3...:clap::clap::clap:
don't get me wrong it's a good motherboard and the ram is high enough quality but the cpu i selected...leaves something to be desired:down::down::down:
i may not get an i7 after all - i may just spend the extra on finding a decent batch SPECIFICALLY from a source that can sell me one...if that's even possible...
i'd even take a regular 530 as long as it oc's more or less the way THEY TELL YOU IT'S SUPPOSED TO...and none of this 1.43 vcore crap...
:clap::clap::clap:
ps: any folks there have any leads on which places theoretically COULD be selling decent 530's or at least a place they got a proven half decent batch from... - you know like the guy a few posts above that only needed 1.26 for 4.6ghz????
EDIT: UPDATE - MANAGED TO BENCH THE SAME AS A Q6600 QUAD CORE AT 3.8GHZ IN FRITZ
so at least i'm getting SOME value at 4.2-4.3...
http://img808.imageshack.us/img808/9086/fgfgfggffg.png
i think we'll call it DAY - 4.3 is more than enough for video encoding anyway...just undecided now as to whether to get the i7 875k like i planned or try and sniff out a really GOOD 530 or 540...so to speak:clap::clap::clap:
EDIT 3: also managed to bench the same as a stock XEON nehelem W3520 (i7 variant)
i can only conclude that when you take it to 4.3 it's doing roughly twice as much as at stock to make up for the 2 missing cores and 2 HT threads...
because the fact that i can even come close to i7...although i noticed when you up the i7 clock like with the lynnfield 860 for example it scores 7.4 -7.5 at stock...personally though i don't place much stock in the windows index - just nice to see...
http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/5...measxeoni7.png
EDIT 4 : FINALLY some dividends at 4.4ghz - now to see if it can pass anything before the cpu :banana::banana::banana::banana:s off...
http://img547.imageshack.us/img547/5925/dividends.png
I GIVE UP - i did not get this cpu to run it at a piss 4.0 or 4.2....
i'm taking this :banana::banana::banana::banana: to 4.4-4.5 and leavin her there....
this is bull:banana::banana::banana::banana: - if it goes tits up GOOD... i'll just buy another one....
here you go folks
i upped the core to 1.44 - it should pass but i got to try encoding with it first - if it passes i'll be amazed...
...but i guarantee you one way or another this cpu is gonna pull it's weight...
http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/6...goodenough.png
one LAST update...
nope!!!! more like 1.46-1.47 to pass just the BILL GATES WINDOWS INDEX at 4.4ghz
http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/7678/tuii.png
@Gameman Core i3 540 L025B058 4370MHz @ 1.48V (benchable not 24/7)
I suppose it's not bad at all. I just need an advice, I want to change this ECS with onother motherboard. The other ECS products are not avalable at my location, an I could get P55-A UD3/USB3, H57M-USB3 or some Asus board. I want to make stable 220bclk, because I want to use my A-Data which is 2200 CL9 1.65V by default. Can you recomend me a descend motherboard from this price range?
i picked up my gigabyte ud2h with the h55 chipset for 89 bucks. i got about 215 bclk out of it without really trying, i'm sure i could squeeze more.
gameman, i went to microcenter and picked my processor by hand. i'm friends with a couple guys that work there and they literally let me go through and look at every one. local stores are generally good for that.
HA!!! i just took what they gave me- no wonder i got such a P.O.S.!!!!
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::r ofl::rofl:
edit: one good thing - finally got the hyper 212 today...
i'll let You folks know how the temps are but i don;t foecast going over 4.2 despite the better temps...i've seen what this thing can do, and more importantly what it CAN'T...:(:(:(:(:(
http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/banner/1520468.png
I was able to get 4.4GHZ, Still testing with Prime 95.. so far I've run the test for 2hrs 48 Minutes.. no errors :) I'm actually using the Hyper 212 Plus aswell, it fairs quite well, I get around 72C on full load, doesnt go higher then that.. :D
stock cooler with as5 i hit about 85C load. i reseated the heatsink when i was gettin 100C+ and this helped a lot. i may not of had all the push things all the way in or something. these things still run super hot. i don't understand it. its smaller, uses less energy and voltage but is still hotter.

got the hyper 212+ today.... my god you'd think the instructions for 1156 install would be a little more concise...kinda VAGUE i mean, i can figure it out but if i don't report back, well then, i guess you can figure out why......:(:(:(
haw haw!!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl:
TEMPS ARE 45 ON 100% FULL LOAD AT 4.2
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/6667/fullload45.png
not bad thank you Laguna.... this appears to have been a wise choice...
it was a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: to install though jesus christ.... :eek::eek::eek: almost killed my board when i dropped the screwdriver and at first thought i killed my cpu - turns out grease just seeped into the pins - cleaned it though and it's back up and stable.....
close one though...
very powerful cooler - was 13 degress at stock when i re booted at first and fan wasn't even at 100% 21-22 on idle at desktop now....
very nice...
can't believe it was only 29 bucks canadian
one thing users oughtta know - that was one of the worst set of instructions i have ever been provided before going in and installing this thing )by coolermaster) - all i can say is first time users attempting this - just be careful - you could end up with a lot of expensive "coasters
"...so to speak...-just read it carefully...
edit:
my god 44 at the fullest load i would probably give it (vdmod xvid encode) - And this is Pass 2 (the heavy one)
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/6001/tighy.png
edit 3: obviously the rpms above are wrong - but that's everest for you
I NEVER would have dreamed it for only 29 dollars - a 20 degree drop all around...obviously this will also be good for i7 - i plan to dump a 875K in here since the price has come down so nicely
just hope they have one in stock or at least a GOOD one by the 7th of Jan...

I managed to get 4.4GHZ prime stable for 8rhs 46min.. :) but my 540 demands a lot of voltage.. I had to get it to 1.4V
hi mate see you got one like mine mine unfortunately also needs about 1.44 in the bios in order to let BILL GATES even make an appearance...
for absolute stability where i could even dream of using it to encode it would need about 1.46-1.47+
what was your batch number/pack date by the way???
thanks:clap::clap::clap:
.
can seem to get a decent fsb outta this board - especialy now that i got the cooling
oh pardon me BCLK!!!
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/6843/44ok.png
I know this is probably an obvious question - but anyone here using a 120mm fan cooler/heatsink have any idea when i swap out my cooler master 212 fan for a higher rpm case fan or even a 2200 rpm 92mm fan temperatures on the cpu go up?????
i tried it once with the original fan - obviously 22 c - like usual
once with two 120mm fans (one on either side - tried both directions) - temps 27-30 c (and this is with the original 212 fan btw)
once with just the case fan (which should be higher rpm) positioned same way 212+ fan was and temps are now up to 26 c at idle and roughly 1 c higher on load...
am i missing something here??? this doesn't make sense:shrug::shrug:
unless they've designed the 212 fan to be absolutely :banana::banana::banana::banana:ing perfect from the ground up
unbelievable...:eek::eek::eek::eek:
i didn't expect that for 29 dollars...
edit: nevermind - found the option for fan control in easy tune 6 believe it or not
now have cpu fan running at full 2000 rpm all the time
by the way i don't know what everyone's raving about speedfan for??? i found it totally useless..
edit: i just wish gigabyte had the same gadget that DFI uses on their x48 and x38 boards that allows you to control ALL the fans from the desktop... all i can control is the cpu fan unfortunately - no options for system-("northbridge fan" it used to be) or any of the 120mm Antec case fans and speedfan - well, like i said all it gives you is the option to turn them DOWN apparently - which clearly is the exact opposite of what i wanted to do...
jesus ...oops pardon me... :cussing::cussing:
http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/3...fanuseless.png
thanks
Hey,
Sorry for late response, I don't use this site very often :P, anyway the batch I've gotten is FPO/Batch: L020B511, MM#904853.. I didn't get the best one either, but I was able to get it stable at that 1.4V for 9hrs Prime 95.. If you recently bought that I would exchange it :P..
thank you - i was wondering that myself....but is it ethical to exchange a cpu because it's a vcore HOG????? or to put it more bluntly a P.O.S.???!!!Quote:
.. If you recently bought that I would exchange it :P..
or does it even matter????? (i'm assuming they would give it to their "supposed" tech department, test it out at stock find nothing wrong with it and hand it right back to me)
i dunno i spent EXTRA money on the 550 because i wanted the 4.8 ghz maybe even 5.0ghz and i can't even get a decent 4.3 for christ's sake...
seriously they oughtta watch their quality control a little more because this is unacceptable...
I'm surprised it passed inspection cause this isn't even a good 530....christ!!!:(
like i said 4 posts ago....something obviously went severely wrong in the binning process....
i dunno, i've had a few offers of 90.00 for it...maybe i'll unload it and throw in another 20.00 for a brand new 540 and hope i get lucky...:shrug::shrug:
i sure am curious as to know what it's like to encode at 4.6ghz - 4.7ghz 4 threads without fear of killing it...
you see now why i'm going for the x3440 :rolleyes::rolleyes:
no sense in flushing extra cash down the hopper if THIS is the best they can do...
Posted this on the LinX thread, but thought Id post it here also.
very nice, is this on water?
Thanks, yes water but with the ac blowing on the rad.

not bad for 1h 30min :-p (this is just cpu clocks - no efficiency at all.....yet :-P)
very impressive. would you mind sharing your batch? and cooling setup?
my god!!!!
Thats the first "enthusiast one" (655k) i've seen that requires almost as much vcore for decent clocks like my p.o.s.550...
funny since i have to wait for the i7 i was considering 655k, but since the chances are just as good at getting what i have here handed back to me perhaps i'll skip...
nice clocks though...
I'd hate to think what mine would need for 4.8ghz
i mean i know it's as easy as setting to to 200 x 24 but the vcore would probably be a requirement in the range of 1.57 minimum just to boot into BILL GATES...
oh well despite this...
Try and Have a Nice Holiday folks folks:wierd::devil::sonic::CTF::party2:
Add me
http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...o/i346pass.jpg
Stock Vcore was like 1.16 I think
@88EVGAFTW: Nice budget clocker you got there - my 540 takes 1.42v for stability at 4.6ghz...
88EVGAFTW,nice chip and OC:D
whats the batch number?i added the OC but would love to know the
batch number as well.thanks
what is max. reach of DDR Freq for Clark.????
Wow awesome, I can only manage 4.41GHZ with 1.4V :O, mines demands more voltage.. but it is 12hr prime stable :)
http://i56.tinypic.com/11rr66h.png
i think i have bad chip......
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/9493/44ghz.jpg
@hsn
You could try lowering your qpi link and see if it gives you a little more headroom - it may or may not...
you think THATS BAD...
try 1.46vcore for 4.4ghz encode/vdmod stable MINIMUM
i gave up on getting a decent chip
and sunk it into a new LCD monitor instead...
just be grad you can do that high at all - i got a 550 and it can barely muster 4.2 ghz encode/prime stable- and even then it crashed the other day just under everyday use....
on the bright side though - intel (not officially) has managed to 'pinch out' a STANDARD 4.0ghz chip - in other words, 4.0ghz is kinda a given.....they just never announced it officially - i mean otherwise there'd be rma's and warranty claims galore....
all i can say is Happy New Year (if yer on our calendar):clap::clap::clap::clap:
Cheers
Ladies and gentleman...U think that u have bad chips?HA?U really do think that?
Let me present my latest aquisition,i3 560.
Neeeds 1.34V for 4 ,0 GHZ stable.Hmm what do u think of that?:ROTF: I was wondering why i can't reach more that 5.57 for pifast with DICE,well,guess this is the reason.
i need about 1.35-1.36 to make it encode-stale (100% usage) at 4.0 ghz with (167x24) and exactly 1.40 vcore in bios just for 4.2ghz encode and p95 stable
i had to up it last week cause it crashed 2 times just under normal use - used to be 1.37 and then 1.39 for 4.2, now it is no less than 1.40 for a stable 4.2
i actually think this p.o.s. is now degrading...
theres yer happy new year for ya!!!:(:(
seriously though, nice to see i'm not alone here
Cheers:up::up::up:
Well we are some unlucky guys over here :(
just so everyone knows what NOT to do - what was your batch number by the way???
thanks mate:up::up:
Got a batch number question for you guys:
I have a i3 530 that's on the list on the first page. My question is, what is the 3rd number to last mean?
My batch number is above, as you can see. What the #6 stand for? 6th wafer?Quote:

2009, 48th week, Batch A, ??, CPU # 1 is the way I understand
Batch number: L024B635. Stay away from this :banana::banana::banana::banana: ;)
hmmm from what i recall mine was # L008B586
something about these new
L0XXX...batches...
complete and total B.S.:(:(:(
oh well...Enjoy...
you'd have to ask intel about the last few digits, i'm not sure anyone outside of an intel employee has that information.Quote:
Example: L149A463-0726
1st letter or digit = plant code (Malay)
0 = San Jose, Costa Rica
1 = Cavite, Philippines
3 = .............., Costa Rica
6 = Chandler, Arizona
7 = .........., Philippines
8 = Leixlip, Ireland
9 = Penang, Malaysia
L = ............, Malaysia
Q = ..........., Malaysia
R = Manila, Philippines
Y = Leixlip, Ireland
2nd digit = Year of production (2001)
3rd & 4th digits = week (49th week )
5th - 8th digits= lot number
10th - 13th digits = serialization code
re:
if that's the case then one of their worst weeks ever was in Maylasia on their 8th week...Quote:

supervisor must've been engaging in pocket pool
and i can say this because it just crashed again at 4.2 normal use while i was simply reinstalling Windows 7

not one of their shining moments:shakes::shakes::shakes:
it appears after googling that any batches starting off in the famous "L00---" have pretty much been an embarrassment...
something must have gone severely wrong over there at the proverbial 'plant'...:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Has anyone ran a Core i3 with over 1.4V for a period of months? Just wanted to know if they ended up killing there Core i3 or not.. I feel tempted to push mines further..
Mine's been running at 1.42v for 1-2 mo....idles in the high 20's though with c1e turned on with a TRUE.

But does it really matter as how long will it be before all of us jump to a p67 + i5 2500k for 4.8ghz+?
Hey , This is my first OC , CPU is I3-560 , iGPU is disables had problems with it , Think everyThings ok Ran trough intelburn test 30 times and was stable , Vcore is 1.440 When Running IntelBurn
Temps 70C max when running intelburn, Cooling is water cooling .
Edit new Pic added , Got 4.6Ghz @ 1.376V stable :D
not bad but both you and i shoulda had 5.0ghz EASY mate...:shrug::shrug:
i prefer to recoup the losses and view it as a quad e5400... at least then their is a slight glimmer of a bright side...;););)

Hey , Yeah i did Have ago again and i have Core speed 4664.5 Mhz and core voltage 1.376V Under Full load running LinX passed 25 Runs , I Guess i could get it higher but 4664.5 Mhz is ok for me :) .
that was what surprised me most:eek::eek:
i admit i might have set my sights a bit high hoping for 5.0ghz...
but the inability of it to do a simple 4.4 was a real kick in the balls
i have not been able to pass anything above 4.2 without being immediately "blessed" with a blue screen ...and that was with 1.47 vcore
quite honestly the reviews by techpower up etc led me to believe i could expect 4.4-4.5 with a safe - vcore but obviously they had good ones and those were 530's...:eek::eek::eek:
i think mine should be relabelled a 520 or a 510 even Lol:rofl:

I did get 5ghz stable on this chip passed intelburn and Linx , i3 560 , coolings chilled liquid , v core 1.536v
Thanks :D , Batch is - L013B634 , stock voltage - 1.2v
well i downgraded and got another i3 setup on the way.
i will post my results as soon as i get it.i grabbed an i3-550
hop its a decent one:D
Tried again today with linx , with 3200mb of ram , gets to the very last loop 20+ and always fails there , so it's back to 4Ghz now lol
well heres my new chip and MB:D
its a high vid chip but a great OCer in terms of vcore
but i cant get it to boot at 1600@ 200bclk cl8/cl7/cl6
no matter what i do?dont know if its my hyper IC's
or the rev1.3 MB?
should find out though as i have some G.Skill's on the way:up:

nice chip, very cool running as well
yep,thats the real good thing about this one is since its a 1.25v vid its very very cool runningQuote:

I think my i3 550 is slowly but surely nearing the end of it's life
i wasn't even able to finish an encode (2min with Handbrake) at 4.2 without an immediate blue screen even at 1,47 vcore (well over the safe limit)...
it used to do it before but not now...
it even failed once doing a hard drive recovery at just 4.0ghz amd 1.41 vcore
so the only surefire one i know that is fast enough (just barely) but can get the job done with no BSOD is now
3.8 ghz at 1.44 vcore
well at least it's finally over
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/3783/74680197.jpg
too bad i sold my E5400:(:(:(
of well it may now be time to try either a X3440 cpu or that new "sandy stuff depending on which is cheaper...
and just as a final reminder
:cow::cow::cow: remember batch # L008B586 :cow::cow::cow:
i know i will
can somebody please refresh my memory as to what's the max safe voltages for these procs? & possible 24/7...please. thanks!
Any info on the new 65w i3-540 stepping?

Yesterday I mounted my i3 530 on my Gigabyte H55N-USB3 MiniITX.
My batch is #: 3949B008.
I'm right know with the intel stock cooler and starting to overclock. I'm following the guide on first post of the Thread and I'm actually reaching the 180 mhz without problems in testing with OCCT and Prime95 with maximum temperatures of 72º-70º then I'm going to start playing with memory timings and apply the final multiplier to the CPU.
I'm really a newbie in OC knowledges but I hope that following the guide will not burn my computer :rofl:
Next step will be watercooling this beast.

Hey guys - sorry to bump an old thread but I only just got around to benching this chip sub.
This was on my Kayl SS @ -43 @ evap
http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/screenshot/2085901.png
NOW for my question - have any of you guys benched a 655 under Dice or Ln2? I have nasty CBB/CB (-60/-65) and was wondering if it was my EVGA SLI mobo or the 655? (I would test with another chip but this is the only 1156 chip I kept :shakes:)
cheers
holy necro thread:eek:
great job Ando, try upping bclock and lowering multi:up:
