has anyone tried to overvolt the cpu on this board yet(1.7vcore or more)? i know my biostar refuses to

You're absolutely right man and sorry its been a very stressful week and I am sorry if I was a little short with you. Please except my sincere appologies;)

I have beta 5.5.8 flashed, do I have flash to official?
It's sable as long as I don't attempt to diddle with OC.
When I dropped in my Phenom, it booted at 1.05 according to BIOS Health. Once I F7ed it and rebooted that feature went away.
How do you get CnQ to work on a Phenom when not OCed? At least untill someone (AMD/DFI) fixes this :banana::banana::banana:!
Don't know man? I have no idea if they changed anything from Beta to official and the C&Q thing don't know about that either.
Perhaps you should Flash Official for warranty purposes only. Please Follow these Instructions for Flashing the Right way>>>>>>>http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1282
Thanks for the help, I'll flash when I get a chance.
As for the CnQ, I just wanted to ask some experts before weeding through the fud on the internets!
Campbell, i think your going to earn the largest signature trophy, LOL.
Hi guys! I´m trying to get my 9850 stable @ 2800 with stock 1,3v, Go one core that keeps craching on me. So I upped CPY NB volt to 1,3 and it seams to have helped, but is it safe for24/7?
DFI 790FX 5/5-08 bios
9850, 0811 Ht link @ 2,2ghz NB @ 2Ghz
Ocz Vx2 @ 1066 1,93v
Sesonic 520W
Campbell, That sign is LARGE ;)
Trty dropping you're HT Link to 2.0ghz:) and also use my Template on the First Page if you can that is and it permits;)
wasup Brother Esau , u have some pic of your rig ? u don't have problems whit your rams using tuniq tower ?
Bro, I want some of what you smoking :smoke:
aGeoM, I do have VID lowered as the board is overvolting which I may just try it at default and see if it works.

yiiiiihaaaaaaa :D :D :D
Sweet! :zombie::wth:
Maybe we can resurrect Garcia for "O"s nomination to start the party!
copying from other thread
so how do i squeeze more out of this cpu?...i got M2R board, 9850 BE, ballistix tracer 1066...what settings do i need to modify, cause at stock the cpu crashes at 2.7 :S
are these cpus really such bad overclockers?
thanks for any info
got a question bout "CPU NB Vlotage Control", it's kinda hard to search cause "NB" isn't searchable
anyways the warning txt for "CPU VID Control" says CPU NB voltage has to be equal for phenoms. i'm just confused cause there is also "NB Core Voltage" and "NB HT Voltage", what does "CPU NB voltage" control anyways? i followed the warning message advice and i managed to hit 3.0ghz though.
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...phenom3000.png
thats so funny.. cant someone remove this spelling error in bios? since dfi nf3, i read vlotage in bios menus of dfi's biosses
what all to adjust...i raised voltage up to 1.5 (that is maximum i will go for) and cannot get it to go anywhere past 2700 mhz...it is stable at 2600mhz, at 2700 mhz it crashes after a while wiht message blue screen...anything else i should tweak on the board to make it move past 2700, or is that the limit of this cpu :(
crap OC potential if you ask me :S
cpu batch is JAAFB AA 0812GPBW
Try the Template on the First Page!;) DO NOT Run high Voltage to Phenom
not working...ironic these CPUs are advertised as BLACK EDITION and cannot OC worth a damn...my cpu is bad like ram's from this thread...but feel free to to drop a suggestion about getting at least to 2.9-3.0 if you have one :D
Well its luck of the draw man and there are growing Pains going on Associated with Phenom too. Personally I have not pushed mine past what I have its just not worth the voltage increase cuz voltage and temps are my primary concern and besides I have not experienced any of the crap most of you guys go through and thats probably attributed to not spikeing Board and cpu voltage and trying for High HT:yepp:
HT Overclocking is Dead and you fellas really need to acknowledge this and stop trying to overclock these chips like the K8:yepp:
how high is too high? i had to use 1.5v to get 3.0ghz. i'm not running it 24/7, but just for benches. and you also say we can't go for high HT? how high have you gotten yours? i'm still testing so don't know if i can break 240 yet, but that's where i'm at right now
the point is...there shouldnt be luck of the draw on BE labeled chips...thats all there is to it...i should be able to get 20-30% oc...anyways how is it that a chip runs stable as hell on 1.25V at 2600, and cannot run on 1.5V at 2700...also im not touching anything except voltage and multiplier
at least my memory is working @ 1066...something that was not possible on abit QuadGT ix38 mobo :D
There was a sudden price dropp on 9850 here today, so I picked upp a second one under 100 buck´s with shipping.... Don´t you just love those autoadjusting online stors that aim to be 1 buck cheaper then all other stors... I´m thinking on of those whent south today an 10 other stores followd ;)
EDIT... My order was cancelld....
Still cheap http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=287173 500Sek is around 83 bucks
lol wtf? 83 dollars? no way
sent them a message :)
anyways is there another AMD socket AM2 cpu that can push my 2 3870x2 crossfireX setup better than this 2600MHz Phenom?
The 6400+BE is a damn good CPU but to be honest The Phenom 9850 games just as well
what think to use 4x1gb on this mobo ? maybe some tracers 1066mhz ? or is better to use 2x2gb ?
I think Brother Esau is referring to the clock disparity between the 9850BE and 6400BE. As you know, the 6400 is clocked at 3.2G stock and 9850 at 2.5G stock. Plus, the 6400 can clock up to 3.5-3.6 on air if you do it right. For the 9850 clocked from 2.5-3.0ish to game as well as the 6400 in single threaded applications is a great thing. Many believe dual cores are better for games now cos they clock higher and the majority of games/software don't take advantage of 2+ cores. Please correct me if I'm wrong Brother Esau.:D
I think 2x2G sticks would be better for 4G total.
2X2GB WILL BE EASIER ON THE Board;)
@Stocious......... I was just saying that if he must switch CPU's the 6400BE is a great CPU mainly because I owned one prior to going Phenom so just talking through experience is all:) Regardless of all of that if he is hell bent on getting a Dual Core why I do not know  because as I said the 9850BE is lucid at gaming with CROSSFIRE just as the 6400BE is:yepp:
That's cool. I had a X2 6000 on my break-in build. I hadn't built a pc since circa 2001 and it performed well, playing most games high to medium with mid-range parts. I see no reason to go back to dual but if that's what he wants then thats fine too.
BTW: That's the Mandelbrot Set fractal in your sig, correct. Which variation is it: dope, windowpane, heroin, crack damn I forget the others.
tnks for the answers, i have a ocz reaperX in 2x2gb but have some problems finding a good coler that fit :s , u can see the problem in this thread:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=188482
and i think better change this ocz for other ones :(
Dual Core, had the same problem.
I got 4x 1GB Transcend Axe RAM DDR1066+ after. However, it's damn hard to get DDR1180+. However, DDR1000 4-4-4 works flawless. DDR1200 is possible however it requires lots and lots of tweaking, which in the end just ruins it for me.
I love to mess around, but that much:shakes:.
Im just thinking to get watercooling and get rid of the heatsink + RAM problem:rofl:.
But there are enough nice kits which use normal sized heat spreaders, you just have to look around a bit;)
need help with crossfire settings. ok, i only had this board for a few weeks now and i still can't figure out the pin settings to enable crossfire. i'm trying to crossfire an asus 3870x2 with a sapphire 3870. now i'm reading the manual and it's not very clear. i left the connectors at default right now and i'm not sure if that's crossfire enabled or not. anyone running crossfire on this board can help me out please. thank you very much.
Thats like saying all of the 939 Opterons should have hit 3ghz:rolleyes:
For Example I spent $570.00 on y Opteron 175 and it would only do 270mhz from the initial 2.2ghz:yepp: so I spent $170.00 on a Opteron 170 and it did 3ghz from the stock 2.0ghz so go figure:shrug:
I would Recommend the OCZ HTC Reaper 1066 2x2gb kit and or one of the kits hat you can use OCZ Tony's Modified SPD File on:up:
which pin settings do you mean? you plug in those 2 cards, connect them via the cf-connector and then install driver or reinstall it if its been installed before.
then cf-tab should be available and you set set cf to work.
test with 3dmark06, should give you lot > 14k points with three gpu setup.
only thing you might set is pcie 2.0 to autonomous switch in pcie settings menu in the bios. but even without cf should work..
you "must" install Both Crossfire Bridges or You're Scores Will Suffer And Be Substantially Less!!!!!!!
thank you all for the help in my crossfire question. i was referring to the pins layout between the 2nd and 3rd pcie slots on the board. i read that those pins are for the 3rd pcie slot. i will try the pcie autonomous setting in the bios. i had the bridge install and everything. one thing that was strange was after i install the latest driver 8.5, ccc didn't come up. i can launch it manually, but it would just sit there. i'll fiddle around with it more tonight. i'm running windows server 2k8, but that shouldn't matter as it's like vista with sp1. i'd love to get crossfire working as i just bought a new corsair tx 750w. thanks again everyone for your help.
oh i don't mean the floppy type power connectors. i have those two connected. i mean the jumper type pins for the pcie settings. according to the manual, it's like 2x4x something and you're supposed to place the blue plastic jumpers according to the pins layout. i have it at default when the mobo was shipped.
should be right as it is right now..
i think this can be entered in bios as well or am I wrong??
i'm looking into my manual mom..
mmh found that jumper on the mobo but not in the manual...
i have set it to the left...

Had me worried there stocius, though you might have been running Internet Exploder. Firefox noobs IE.

Checked BIOS, I am on 5-5-08 and it's starting to look good stock. I've not OCed yet but will get to that later.
Did a little tweak. Raised my HT to 1200 then 1400. I noticed that running games the stutter is less. I don't see an speed increase but it is smoother.
Next I got my Corsairs in running 4-5-4-13 at 2.05V, that just made it even better.
I'm starting to get into this. Now If I can raise the clocks a little I'll definitely be content with this until the new stuff comes.
Now, I need to go dig up some GD :D
Hows it going with VISTA 64 ALABAMA? Can you run the CPU Below 1.30v?
I aborted that project when the 5600 behaved terribly in the DFI. I have the Phenom back in and Love it. I still have to check overclocking.
VISTA64???? Or XP64??????
I'm still on XP64. I need to get another driver to load Vista 64 so it might be a while.
I booted to 2.550 this morning at 1.2875 which OVs to about 1.296 and I've been running on it all day working it's heart out.
Here are the results of one of my test runs using my ray tracer designed for AMD processors. I still have some artifacts in the mappers and culling but it's starting to produce some striking work.
Sorry Bro Esau, I thieved some deadhead art work :D for my walls in this virtual world.
http://www.seekersoftware.com/images...ldeadballs.jpg
Brought to you by the power of a 4 Core AMD Phenom Processor.
i gave phenom 1.52V (on overdrive it says max 1.55V on description) and it booted in 2700mhz no problem...under water it didnt get too hot...55 C full load, but such increase in vLOtage does not justify the increase of speed
anyways, is the architecture of a phenom similar to x2 cause i got an oportunity to swithch 9850BE for 5000+ BE x2, and get some money back :)
hmm was givin my old q6600 1.6V didnt seem to bother it...also why does amd say max 1.55V? and why does it say black edition when it wont OC wortha a damn :) ...anyways in my experience higher frequency will be able to push my 3870x2 crossfireX setup much better
also i would switch cause i feel cheated by amd, and im trying to get some of the money back...they should be grateful i dont go back to intel, which has even the cheapest piece of crap E2140 cpu ticking at over 3.5 Ghz
Dude, reading your post AMD should be grateful you go back to Intel again:shakes:.
There have been posts about Intel CPU's degrading as well, Ive no clue what Vcore were used though.
It's called Black Edition because it comes with unlocked multipliers. If you'd look around you actually see quite some Phenoms are hitting nice speeds now. It's just some batches are crap and/or SB600 doesnt play nice together with certain batches. You feel cheated by AMD because yours doesnt OC well (atm?), could be me, but I really fail to read anywhere AMD announcing a guaranteed OC:shakes:
And I would have thought, as you seem to OC, that Mhz isnt everything. Actually the Phenom is equal to Yorkfield at the same speeds. So you actually say the E2140 at 3.5Ghz is faster than any Intel Yorkfield running lower speeds then that.
so you are saying i will have to change this 200Euro motherboard to maybe get nice speeds (SB750)? :)...im sorry to sound ungrateful, but when someone is selling a cpu with UNLOCKED feature, and it cant hit like 100mhz more without changing anything, then of course i will feel cheated a bit...its called misleading the customers...for all i knew i could have at least bought the 100Euro m2rs motherboar if i was gonna run everything on stock :)
Well, SB750 isnt out yet so there's not much to change right now. Also I dont know if it will fix the poor clocking or whether you just have a crap stepping. It's pretty hard to determine with a non-optimized SB:(.
Also, they sell the Black Edition to make OC'ing easier. As I said, AMD never gave any warranty you'll get good clocks or that the BE would overclock better. So you can feel cheated as much as you want, you aren't. You bought an unlocked 2.5Ghz Quadcore and that's what you got.
And whether it's a crap stepping or really only your motherboard, Ive no clue. I dont know about mine either. Ill have to wait for the SB750 and drop in the CPU there to see how it will do. If it's still crap I know enough and then Ill buy another Phenom.
Also I can think of a lot better motherboards if you want to run stock. Im a bit done with DFI atm anyway. Hiding options from BIOS, poor BIOS support etc. I hope they'll do a better job on the next boards but Im afraid they wont.
I have to agree, some of these 9850BEs are not worth what we paid for them but I guess we only paid extra for the privilege of being able to d**k around with the multi. The alternative is getting a darkside chip that does much better but still they are sold by the advertised speed. A Q6600 hits over 3G with about 1.3V but has the advantage of two dies. This improves head dissipation and is easier to get power into the circuits. Hopefully with 45nm this will be worked out.
Oh I don't know I only run mine at 2.8ghz and am tickled pink with my Phenom system;)
so are those motherboards faulty? can i go and return it? is there anywhere that confims that SB600 has errors?
tnx
also the board cannot come back up from standby completely...it locks up always...any solution to this?...terrible :S
No idea, I never go standby:D
man the only difference in my phenom and brother's is a week of production...his is 10, mine is 12...there is no way this phenom cannot hit higher speeds at stock...there has got to be the way to tweak the board somehow...any ideas what can i try?...im not gonna fry it anymore :D
:)
btw i decided to keep the phenom and not take 5000+BE ...i exchanged one of my x2 ati cards, for regular 3870 so i will be running 3870x2+3870 triple cfX...they say thats the most improvement anyways :D
TCF is more usefull than QCF indeed. QCF will give higher numbers etc but in the end it's just a bit too much of it all.
What clocks are you brother's Phenom hitting? My CPU is week 10 too and OC's :banana::banana::banana: all. But as I said, Ive no clue if it's indeed a crap batch or just like batch and SB600 interference. Also, is you brother's stepping the same as yours apart from the week? Steppings would matter of course.
nono you misunderstood me...i was refering to Brother Esau from here...his stepping is JAAFB AA 810GPBW also particle who hit 2800 also has it...my stepping is JAAFB AA 0812GPBW
and the error i get when overclocking is something like:
'Clock interrupt not received on second processor with in the allocated time permitted'
Please do me a personal favor and list a full signature (Power Supply) included as well as Bios Version that you are running;)
My personal Apologies to one and all for not being around as of late but my 16 year old cat has been in critical condition and have been nursing him back to health.
I really have problems remembering the problem, although wasnt it a Vista+CnQ problem? I think a patch was the solution. But as I said, Im hardly remember anymore.
RMA the CPU its defective! Here>>>>>http://forums.amd.com/forum/messagev...threadid=90533
