A little morning fun. Gotta get a triple rad here. This single rad sucks.
Hi,
I received a 8500 this morning.Here is some results.

Cooling and batch please
I guess so, if that's air or water I'd be amazed lol :D
Gonna try some higher speeds soon... I'm just a bit busy now :D
lowest vcore for 4Ghz? :hrhr:
http://www.muenster.de/~e30pics/Bild...rime-01_kl.png
Yes of course :D
Another bench to 5.2ghz

received mine today :D not had a chance to use it yet (ive a hang over :( )
anywho spec;
e8500
S-Spec; SLAPK
FPO#; Q745A554
Version #; E27437-001
max volt; 1.225v
pack date; 01/10/08
is that a good batch number? and the max volts cant be right?
@ X.T.R.E.M.E_ICE
its on water, i think coretemp read wrong temps because the water is cold (~roomtemp).
@ Achill3uS
the E8200 (Q745Axxx) can do max. ~530FSB :(
but y sucks Q744A? My second E8200 is Q744Axxx and this can do 4Ghz @ 1.20v
VCore :D
@ ztop
right
@ Origin_Unknown
Q745Axxx is best batch i had (and i had Q744A / Q745A / Q747A)
Q747A isnt good, the E8200 with this batch need 1.35v for 4Ghz :(
Just received a E8500 Q746A363, I will see how it goes after work :)
I think the 746's are, for the most part, quite good?
Received my E8400 yesterday. Doesn't seem to be doing well as some, but good enough for me.
So far running Orthos @ 4GHz, 1.425V. Will boot to Windows @ 4.5GHz, 1.45V, but locks up after a few seconds of Orthos.
btw, whats the most volts you guys would put through these? 1.45? even though the box says 1.2v?
quick testing with high V...
Aquamark is with the E8500 at 4806mhz!!!! with 1.65Vcore..:)
Ive got a Q77A761 E8400 and doesnt seem to be as good as lots on here,i think uk has got runt of the litter in terms of good batches.
i need nearly 1.4v (cpuz) just to get it stable at 4050.
Here you go -> http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=174547
Same batch :)
I hope you can get it stable at 4.5 for daily use if that's what you mean. From my testing i've noticed that this CPU batch really likes vcore. I can get it stable at 4.3 with 1.5v set in bios (1.48v real) and that's the max i want to use for air cooling. Mine needed around 1.55v or so real to get 4.5 stable and i think it's too high for daily use. Anyway, hope yours is better and your cooling is more efficient then mine. :)
Can whoever took the liberty of making this 'official' thread start documenting everything in the original post?
BTW, by stable i mean OCCT stable. I can setfsb my way to 4600 and do a quick superpi even at 1.4v :)
gaiz - Here's a little comparison I threw into a graphic from the intel spec sheets for e6000 and e8000 series -
http://www.movement-radio.com/intelspec.jpg
Now don't kill the messenger, but I wanted to save anyone who cares about intel specs the time of opening and scrolling two pdfs.
The max Tc for e6000 series is 60.1c for e8000 series it's 72.4c
So what does anyone think about max volts? I've read about two failures so far - one at 1.4v and another at unknown volts but it came back mysteriously. II'd really like to know how far we can push these suckers for 24/7.
mrcape thanks for the post dude
dodgy name tho ;)
just had my psu blow up so im not going to be able to test
Ouch
Is it usual for one core to have a 4-5c difference in temp under load? I tried re-seating the EK block a few times, but it's always the same.
I also have the idle bug, one core never goes below 42c, the same one that has higher load temps.....
Anyone have a stable 4500 and care to share there volts, ect?
After prime finnishes with my 4300 setup, I plan/hope to get a 4500 24/7 setting stable
Come on push these CPU's, feed them voltage!!!! But really, It takes a real Idiot to fry your CPU that way, It's a risk who's positives outweigh the negatives, IMO. These chips run way cooler so thats another thing you've got on your side.
I am worried about the temperature more than vcore, my load temp at 1.4v with watercooling is 70 degree C...
Hey Grnfinger,
No 4.5 stable but I have been there with 1.44vcore to creep around. I'm doing same as you now, finally Prime and Occt stable at 4.2ghz vcore = 1.43 - High!! But I have yet to back it off or fine tune.
What about a table or a template with voltages etc., so we can all compare results?
There's a thread doing just that at ocxtreme which might interest you -
http://www.ocxtreme.org/forumenus/showthread.php?t=2453
What are your voltages for 4.3 stable? What stability test method did you use?
here is my at 4.2GHz 1.368v
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/5112/orthos2ny8.jpg
It's bizarre how these chips differ so much with volts and temps. Icywater that's great 5 hours small fft. It's getting hot man! But I'm like you, more concerned with voltage on this chip.
Can I ask what is your FPO / Board / NBvolts / Pll ?
:ROTF:  Got This today http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=303613
 running with windows 2003 server and no mods.
coretemp 0.96.1 and everest
I use prime95 small ffts to get the cpu stable then a combination of prime blend test and OCCT to get my ram running smooth.
For 4.3GHz I need 1.36V, hope to have headroom for 4.5GHz
Temps are great at 28-30c idle and 49c load compared to the quad
The Maximus thread has a settings template to share/compare perhaps a template for this would prove helpful for all
up to 2 hours stable so far.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...2hrsorthos.jpg
Temps are very nice I must say to boot.
my bad n/m
My temps are also very good, but its lots of volt, can bench 32m at 4400mhz @ 1.55v set in bios on air.
/Grau
Here is my , with 55C load should I pump more voltage to go beyond 4ghz for 24/7 usage ??
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...Untitled-6.jpg
worth a shot eh?
I posted these in the DFI P35 thread but I don't want you guys to miss them.
Had some more fun tonight, didn't break any records, need better cooling for that.

I'm very NEW when comes to overclocking on an Intel platform but how important is it to raise the voltage on the NB? Mine is at 1.25v(I THINK)
hi all !
can someone confirm this:
on p5k3dx bios 1001 only with 45nm chips can´t disable C1E ?
thanks for tipps!

Hey Eva..do you know what the "T" is for?
I got L740A525T, still testing, but currently @ 4275mhz @ 1.425.
Picked it up locally, not NCIX. Their shipping department sucks since new years...I won't order from them until after the end of Feb.
no idea what the T is.. all Aussie batches have it too
Heh! Xmas and Boxing Day sale backlog. I had to wait a few extra days back in early Jan. for my orders but their shipping seems to be back to normal now. They sent my E8400 in one day, very fast. Except the Purolator truck had mechanical problems so it was delayed a few hours:rolleyes:
eva2000: Good to see it's also on Aussie batches, your results give me a lot to strive for:D
So, the letter "T" is on Canadian and Australian-shipped Intel 8000 series processors. Any other reports of this mysterious letter "T" on the batch codes:confused:
I have "T" in my FPO as well
Q740A553T
I did not buy at NCIX and never would
so far it is an excellent chip
478x9 @1.368volts 15 hours prime stable
testing 500x9 @1.42volts
I have 2 E8400
Q740A473T
Q740A553T
I don't know if I'm doing something wreong but they both sux
4.25ghz need 1.488v
4.0ghz need 1.36v
Tried the on 2 P5K Premium (1 old "dead now" and a brand new one)
maybe i'm missing something
I don't think they were binning properly this batch, L740A...I mean, it goes, but...I don't see anything other than 40c temps, load, idle, stock, overclocked...it's like flying blind...
Q746A351
24\7 on air
seems about average
Can do 4.4 @1.4v but it gets a little warm

Can anyone with E8500 test using 9.5 multi then 9 for getting max orthos/prime stable OC. I am trying to determine if 24/7 STABLE limit is from FSB or max OC chip.
For example, say 9x478, or 4.3 is max orthos stable OC with 9 multi. If now use 9.5 multi can you get it to 4.4 orthos stable? Or was 4.3 truly the max orthos stable OC.
I am willing to pay an extra $100 on chance it would OC higher, but waiting 3 months, if indeed April is true ETA, is another story. So if .5 multi does not help in some cases, then I will go ahead and get E8400.
Do you mean it needs those volts for prime stable? Did you try to set the gtl values like mid 60s? I'm not on the Premium (though I have one sitting here) but I needed to do that on the DFI and I've seen OPB talk about using it on his asus. Using superPi 32m and creeping those down helped me find the best point for the gtls.
I'm having a hard time getting prime stable over 4.2ghz with anything less than 1.43 volts. But it will do occt 30 minute, 3dmark06, SuperPi 32m, etc. no problem at 4.3ghz 1.4v.
I keep mine even lower -
What about yout VTT is it set low?
I keep -
VTT - 1.20
CPU GTL1/3 REF Volt................. - 60
CPU GTL 0/2 REF Volt................ - 59
North Bridge GTL REF Volt........... - 60
P5K Premium 0504 bios :
North Bridge GTL REF Volt (0.61x, 0.67x)
CPU GTL REF Volt (0.57x, 0.59x, 0.61x, 0.63x)
thats the GTL adjustement
I don't know about VTT and asus bios ?
I think I need a DFI... the P35 Dark is tempting... I miss the "real bios" :D
Correct , use NB GTL: 0.67x , CPU GTL REF, 0.63x, this gave me more stability on my P5K deluxe aswell!, regardless fsb i always set those values accordingly.
hopefully if;
1) my psu is still under warranty
2) scan will swap it for something differend / cheaper
3) none of my parts are fried
ill get a corsair TX750 and see what my chip can do
4200MHz, 8hr + orthos stable :)
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...me/4200MHz.jpg
Mine isn't very good either:
4300MHz 15 hours Prime stable @ very good volts 1.368
http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...4300prime1.jpg
I wonder if it's mobo related ?
Zeus, we both run Asus P35 mobo...
lots of ppl running the maximus have great results...
grnfinger-> what's the fpo/batch of your E8400?....seems to be a roxxor this one!
It's not the board bro, it's not the board.
Check this one :
