:woot:
And, bonus, my second computer finally is active, so I now have two crunchers. :)

What would putting 2 PS3's on BOINC do? Anything worthwhile?
I thought you could do BOINC now with PS3 no? hmmm what client was that.
http://www.ps3grid.net/
I have linux on both my PS3's so it might run, but specifically if it does WCG I dont know
I stand corrected..Boinc will run on a PS3 with Linux but won't run WCG..
They have a couple specialized apps for the PS3's and here's a description of one of them:
Science: Molecular experiments
FORWARD-REVERSE STEERED MOLECULAR DYNAMICS
Potassium ion permeation in Gramicidin A
We are giving workunits comprising full-atom simulations of gramidicin A for ion transport, a total of 30,000 atoms. Each workunit lasts less than one day and you have to complete it before a week otherwise the workunit is reassigned
Hmm wonder if it would be worthwhile to check out
Too bad WCG isnt on there, the PS3 would be a nice workhorse.
4.5 million :D must be a new record
Got the new quad yesterday, still waiting on parts, but it will be online by monday.
x3210
SLACU
L723B494
That any good?
x3210
SLACU
L723B494...
That is exactly what I got; L723B494.
Been lazy ( and to be fair, busy ), though. So, it is still sitting in the box.
OK guys, let's try to get all our new quads online next week and bury Easynews for good.

There we go.Quote:

We still need all the new quads to go online next week. I can't keep pulling 750K days. Or maybe I can.:)
DDTUNG:cool:
So, basically, DDtung would be 12th on the Teams list if he worked alone. Wow.
I have space and socket issues.
However, I was able to remove a computer, that I no longer run, from the computer room. So, I moved a quad in there.
I was a little worried about the system's temp and overclock as it is definitely hotter in that room. This is the first quad I put in that room ( other than Clover1 ). But it is ok; temps only moved up a few degrees and it seems to be fine. I'll keep an eye on it to make sure it remains that way.
The upshot of this is I was able to plug back in, and get crunching, my fastest quad. That had been displaced and laid off to the side ever since I built the Blood Iron/quad rig last week, which "took it's place".
So w00t! Another quad is now in full production.
Still have this last one, the x3210, that needs to be built.
But as of 15 minutes ago, I have one more quad running than I've had yet.
uggh, I blew a whole day of production @ 3.7 for being stupid. Forgot to turn it back on after playing COH:OF, damn coding in that game is poor for multithreading and it crashes if using WCG and throw a bunch of errors.
All is well. Try and curb my gaming habits, have some work I should be doing around the house anyway.
Same here, + the breaker issues. Today is not a good day neither, my S-Dark is down .. havent get it back up yet .. prolly go to frys tomorrow.
So summary for the day : S-Dark down, my Q6600 just sitting there and stare at me .. try to say "I want to work NOW biatch"
Should have another Q66 up in the next few days...

I have two rigs here, Win XP installed, just waiting for Q6600 G0s from njkid.

Yes, very nice day:) I've only had my 2 quads up and running for about 2 days. I'm currently testing a few cpu's now to get up as well:up: We be rollin:D
I think I have my home rig cranking right now too...stable again with the newer Boinc versions thats for sure :D
My poor machines are so confused lately. My AMD 939 is putting out more than the Conroe, because of how much downtime the water loop has inflicted on it.
:woot: That is a hella day boys and girls :woot:

Looks like Easynews has some dedicated people too, they've been rising slightly the last few days, as if noticing what's going on here.
Whoa, where did Bachus_anonym come from?
Excellent work team, now that cooler weather is here I can run my systems longer. I threw together my P4 640 and started it crunching again. I will give the MX-2 a couple of days to set and then I will see what this crappy HS can do.
I have just started turning mine on :)

Just a quick question - and I am sure that it has been explained plenty of times ;) - but how are the free-dc / boinc points related to those you see on the WCG pages? WCG yesterday was around 14k, and the Boinc / FDC sig etc shows only 2k??
Junglemaster,
WCG Points = Boinc Points x 7 (roughly). HTH
-SS
Not sure if above isn't a bit exaggerated but thanks, Dave :)
So, I decided to give my adventure with DC another spin after about 2 years and decided to join noble effort and started crunching work units for XS last Saturday
I'm still trying to figure out what my output may be and I guess I'll need to wait a few more days. So, currently I'm running 24/7:
--> 1 x Core 2 Quad @ 3.6GHz, 4GB RAM
--> 2 x Core 2 Quad @ 3.2GHz, 4GB RAM each - I'll bump 'em to 3.6GHz some time soon... I think they should handle it.
--> 1 x Core 2 Duo @ 3.6Ghz, 4GB RAM
I think that should net around 50-60k on average, but I'm not sure. I'm probably not going to switch to 64-bit unless I really get motivated, though.
Greets guys! :toast:
Welcome back, B_A

Thanks for your help, bachus.:)
Its about time Michal:rofl: I've been bugging you for how long:D Just kidding!
Thanks for coming back to the team and I see you come bearing plenty of quads:up:
Just remember Mr. Memory Guru:) Mem speed and latency mean nothing in WCG. I've tried testing several different ways and received the same results from running stock 800MHz 5-5-5-14 to 950MHz 3-3-3-8 (Dominator CL3's). WCG is based on raw GHz. So, the higher you can clock those without errors the better. Also, great idea on the x64 so far plenty of us are seeing a nice increase in production from switching to x64 based OS's.
Anyway, if you have any questions please just ask:)
Oh ya, my new personal daily output record :D

This one kills me. I had my network shut off in WCG to see if it would solve a small problem I'm having and missed uploading an easy 20K tonight..:(
Oh, so its your fault?!
Flog him!...;)
-SS
I think it is my fault...
I have my new Q6600/IP35-E crunching. However, I had to disconnect the CAT5 from my front room switch, temporarily, in order to install BOINC-WCG and download WUs.
But, I had to disconnect it, letting it crunch unconnected since last night. I would have connected it in time to dump, but had to work overtime so I couldn't. I figure that was probably close to 15,000 points. Gonna go dump it now. Probably out of, or close to out of, work by now.
Movieman, I bet you could talk for days with just images.
If it ( be beat by less than 15K points ) happens again today it is my fault. Just got home a few minutes til 6; hooked it up right away and dumped 26 WUs but probably didn't get 'em in for today.
Gonna have to find a better solution. I have room in my computer room ( and room on that room's switch ), but need to put it into a case first. Working a lot, then by the time I get home I don't feel like doing much.
But I need my coffee table back, and the machine is set up just like I like it.
Didn't need those 26 WU's today.;)
XtremeSystems - 4,361,770
Easynews - 4,322,105
Right on!
No, no. I'm cool. I have things daisy-chained from my bedroom where the cable modem and router are located. Aside from what gets distributed in this room I have two runs coming out of my 4 port router, going up into the ceiling, then down into an 8 and 16 port switch in the computer room. From the 16 port switch I have a 100 ft' run running the length of the house and hooking up to a 4 port switch in my dining room. The problem is I already have 4 machines hooked up to that, and I don't want to disturb them.
So, I built it and set it up on the coffee table, temporarily. Once it is good to go ( in this case meaning putting it inside a case ), I have a spot for it and a connection for itin the computer room.
Actually, since this is probably not the last time I'll be going through this process it wouldn't hurt to have it. I could then hook it up to one of my current dining room's 4 port and run a 25' cable from one of its' ports and another short one to the machine whose spot I temporarily stole. So, yeah, if it is not a big deal to you, throw it in the box.
And, thank you, kind sir.
Serlv, you must spend all day tripping over wires... :P
Also, my Conroe really is quiet enough that my parents can't hear it now. 24/7, here I come.
:) @ MotF Bane.
Nah, it really isn't that bad. In the bedrooms most everything is out of the way.
Now, in the dining room it gets a little tricky, when I have to go behind one of the two tables that I have rigs on. Careful steppin', for sure.
Now that you mention it, though, I wonder how many yards, total, I have of various wire and cable.
I have a five wire break-out cable that runs from one of the the dining room tables to the HDTV in the living room, as well as an audio cable that has to goeven a little further, to the receiver.
Plus CAT5, plus power cords, plus meece, plus KBs, plus speaker wire, plus added dedicated circuits. It just goes on and on! :D
Im still crunching at half power due to hardware failures :(
Got that Q66 in action. Loading XP64 as I type.
This was also my first install of the TR U120E and I gotta say: What a royal freakin PITA that was!!!! I'd like to meet the guy who engineered that thing so I can slap him silly! Shoulda heard me... I havent cussed like that since I was a Marine.
-SS
Are you complaining the mounting method or the metal bracket that hold the heatsink down?
The metal bracket, the screws that are too short in threads and too long in length. Having to cram cardboard in there to take up the excess slack and it still wiggles.
-SS
The cardboard method does not work for me, instead i use a dremel and cut the backplate extra studs. That way it allows the screws go down a bit more.
*Picture taken from http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/
interesting idea...It doesnt bugger the threading? It still doesnt seem like like it would compress those springs enough to make it really tight.
I was just going to go find some shorter screws and bolt it down tight.
Have to assess if the card board worked once I get windows installed.
-SS
The wiggle does not affect temps as much as you might think. I have one that does that. Load temps are in the high 40's right now. Even on really hot days, I never saw temps above 55C. I used several layers of 3M rubber Mastic tape to try to reduce the amount of wiggle. The fan on top of the heatsink helps cool the mosfets and RAM.
Using good fans also makes a difference. I have a couple of Scythe Minebea's in push-pull configuration. The Minebea's are more expensive than other fans, but they blow a lot of air and have a life expectancy of 180,000 hours. That's over 20 years!
Didn't this suck the big one? I installed that out of a case and thought I was going to break the damned board I had so much arm pressure on it to hold it down.
I got it tight with 2 layers of thick(3/32") double stick tape with a felt washer on top of the tape.
I like that fan up top you have ., I have a small chipset fan on the mofsets themselves but your idea pushes lots more air..
Doesn't virbrate at all. Gravity keeps it from moving around.:)
I'm a big believer in using extra fans. I'm not into case esthetics or low noise for that matter. When you visit my computer room, you'll think you're on an airport tarmac.:D I like to hear my machines crunching.
People who want silence should renounce life and join a monastery.:D
Nice numbers for a Sunday.:)
