I just signed in to say, congrats on the WR kinc! Orb is in ATI's pockets :)
Wow congrats on this. The title comes back to AMD/ATI
Ah ok, maybe I have different kind of a routine when taking a screenshot.
Sampsa, I think that the difference is that your SM3/SM2 scores are below 10 000..
here is mine at exactly 10 000 SM3 score (notice the same thing)
Good stuff Marcus :toast:
Keep on pushin' the limits :)
The motherbard didnt go quietly to sleep. It had to take the cpu with it :( I have an other QX6700 with the same stepping and a few QX6850 coming in next week. 26k should happen soon, on a blitz formula with QX6850.
Congratz Kinc. you made 2900XT user Proud :D
Congrats Kinc!! I know there's alot left in those Cards!
Congrats Kinc
Sorry about the board/cpu Kinc, that really blows. :( Your quad was an awesome one which isn't even worth stating just looking at it on the ORB. :p:
"We" will have X38 as soon as it is available ;)
//Andreas
Looking forward to seeing you guys top the charts again. It just means someone else will make a even bigger score in the long run anyway :p:

It seems Hipro have work a little bit now..
Sorry you can't set up the P5W64 for another session right now.. only some few point higher..
He he :D :D Nice to know..
Have you look the score of Hipro?, you are faster in SM2.0, just a litte 25 pnts for him in SM3.0.. But he's score higher in CPU .. I can think only some point more in SM3.0 and it's good... (Is the ATI reduce score on CPU, cause i think the difference strange... I know it was a little problem by past)
Go go go...
Yes I have noticed that NV gets more in the cpu score, proevs that they were succesful in removing some ot the cpu overhead with the new drivers. There is also the fact that ATI cant use LOD setting in 3dmark 06. Really strange that it works for all other 3dmark but not 06.
As you know R600 is a pretty hot gpu ;) Running ln2 on it puts the pot to test and as I have said before the first revesion mousepots designed even before G80 just couldnt keep up with the heat generated. therefore I contacted MickeyMouse to see if he would do me a favor and make a special design of his rev4 gpu mousepot. He just got em back from the shop and here is how they turned out:
http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/5557/40641882fz8.jpg
http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/835/62930513zr3.jpg
He has tested to mount em on 2900 and the mounting is perfect! No more thin alu plate, can't wait to test em!
It is the driver that aint applyng the custom IQ settings to 3Dmark 06. (setting mipmap quality within catalyst do not change the IQ aswell).
damn nice hardware
Wow, those are gorgeous pots! Keep us posted about the event. Good luck as well!!
Wow.. reallly nice pots.. excellent... really, he have make a perfect work..
Those are some beefy looking Mouspots, should work very well running without a coldplate.
Now that is reall ART :D
Wow nice..
It seems i can get the Asus Blitz, the 2 versions Extreme and formula, will go for the DDR2 versions, You can't get them Kinc?
Kinc, can you get quad penryn system (of course if it will be able to hit 5GHz) to run 2x2900XT ? we're are waiting for >=26100 '06 score
My ASUS Blitz Formula, is not as overclockable as my other two ABIT AW9D-MAX mobos.....I mean that with the AW9D I can bench on ait 3Ds at ~4060MHz and with the Formula maxed out at ~4000MHz.... :( BUT Formula IS dumn fast, VERY easy to use, it boots EVERY TIME no matter what and I have enjoed it since I got it.....I'll give it a try under LN2 to see how it will react... ;)
Great job Kinc!
hipro >> does the lower clocks on Blitz are caused by bad Vcore section?
ok.. strange.. it seems KInc is right with that, the "old" quad don't overlock same with it..perhaps QX6850 will go better with it.. but i can think to the bios imaturity.. I plan take one when i can..
I can't remember what is the Cfire PCI ex on the Blitz?.. 2x 16x or 2x 8?
2X8 would be great to see what 2X16 would give :D
yes.. specially cause it seems the 2900 have been designed for PCIEX 2.0.. even if the card is not only designed for, the 8pin connectors and the increase when you up the PCI exrpress frequencies show they will really scale with PCI ex2.0
What are you guys using in those screenshots to OC? Is that RivaTuner?
hi
can you tell me how you oced the cards in Crossfire mode?
because i have got also two HD2900xt @ my Q6600
and i can not find out how to clock the grafik cards at crossfire mode
here some 3dmark06 benchs from me
Intel Q6600 @ 3407 MHZ
Asus P5B Deluxe
2x1 GB Gskill @ DDR2 946 5-5-5-15-2T
Treiber ATI 7.7 Final
Singel HD2900xt @ Default:
3DMark Score 12440 3DMarks

You need to flash the cards with new BIOSes for CF overclocking to work right now.
//Andreas
The tools are not available to the public :(
//Andreas
So AMD have said that no member of public can use thier systems to attain World records? So what value does a record, or attempting to attain one, hold for someone? You are guaranteed not to be able to take the same steps as AMD's agents/reps, so why bother?
I do not understand such thinking...I got a bunch of nice cards, got a good cpu too, but cannot attain scores like you guys have...
Nor can anyone else...
In my opinion it is a bit of false marketing. I do belive there are people around the world thinking:
-If some people can overclock 50%, maybe I can overclock 10%. That will be better than my 8800GTX. I will buy two of thoose.
(the percents does not matter) Image their suprise when that is not possible... Will the BIOS (or tool) ever be avaliable? The board has been avaliable for quite some time now...
kinc: looking forward to see your next 06-result!
Well, R600 is overclockable without the BIOS updates, but not in CrossFire. The number of people with R600 crossfire is probably rather few. I completely understand though that these people wants to overclock the cards too, but then you should be mad at ATI for making sucky drivers in the first place, not because they've chosen to release BIOSes and flash utilities to a few chosen people. If the BIOSes were left to spread freely chances are that we would have a bunch of people complaining over black screens and cards not working anymore. This is not a good nor permanent solution to CrossFire overclocking, this is a highly temporary solution. Wait for real CrossFire overclocking instead.
//Andreas
Do not missunderstand me, I am not angry at the ones who has the BIOS. ;) I just think it is strange of ATI/AMD to do like this. Maybe they have big problem, I do not know the reason...
And as you said, there are not that many people with two of theese. Thoose who has knows how to handle it I guess so the number of RMA should not be that many that are related to OC in CF.
And this 'highly temporary solution' has existed for about two month now i think. I know some people bought two of theese cards in the beginning of june (because of great published results) and still not have any chance to OC in CF. I do understand if they are pissed.;)
/blossa - keeping his 8800GTX
What Pcie Frequency is the best for this card? Anyone know?
I guess it depends on your clocks, with high clocks it could definitely need the extra PCI-E bandwidth. I can run up to 150 mhz PCI-E (yup.. 50 mhz PCI; soundcard, raid, all kept working, tested it for a day straight, lol) but I didn't really notice a different versus 120 mhz PCI-E. I was running 850/1070 stock cooler/volts. But honestly i didn't really test it thoroughly enough. I think with higher clocks it will matter more..
New P5W64 board. No new good QX (RIP) so im running 05 for now. Actually none of the L713 QX6850 are stable above 4900MHz on neither blitz or P5W64 :(
X6800 L617
Corsair 6400C3
ASUS P5W64
ASUS 2900XT CF 1080/999MHz
http://www.kinc.se/052.png
The 2900XT have been designed first for PCI ex 2.0, the card is aim for 175mhz compability.
Now.. it depend of the motherboard you are using. some are really fine for increase the PCI express frequencies ( the P5W64 for example, like it have more resources in W and Amper dedicated to the PCi express slots.. like there's 4x slots on it.. ) so you can up the frequencies with no worry.. On some board.. it seems it can be more a problem, with variation prob.
And off course you are right: the extra bandwith is not a garantee, folowing the OC of the system, and the core /memory clocks
Nice result! Keep going for 35k. But I guess you already knew that.
To bad about the quads. I guess that it confirms that on air the QX6850 outperforms the QX6700, but when it comes to real cold it is not that much difference. Maybe I thought that there would be more QX6850 @5GHz than there has been QX6700, now I am not that sure anymore.
Gautam: Thanks for the offer! If I get mad about something sometime and do not have anyone to be angy with, I might pick you. :D
i also have crossfire and i agree with both the points above currently the hd2900 is the only dual card setup which can't be overclocked by the end user which seems a shame i bought the crossfire for its overclocking potential and i have fitted waterblocks and everything and its sat there at stock clocksQuote:

Marcus is looking very distinguished sportin' that extra facial hair. :D
How come I don't see you? :p:
Good to hear about the X6800! Lets hope it is a 5.4GHz chip. I had to run almost 2.1V this time to be able to run 5.35.
I just got the rev4s from Jason. I'll have your rev2s send over with some extra goods right away :D Thanks for lending em they have served me good :)
That's really unfortunate....I wasn't aware that you couldn't flash the BIOS of our cards for OCing in Crossfire.
Those are some great OCs you guys are getting on them! :D I was really impressed at how well this card responded to OCing.
I'm just trying to hide some of the extra weight I've been puting on lately by changing my apperance in some way :D Need to take a brake from all of this soon as it feels like I'm having two full time jobs atm. My day job (45h/week) and all of this pc hardware stuff. No time to work-out and to much partying on the free time that I have :)
Ha- you sound just like me. I don't understand at all how you guys at the top manage to bench like this. A weekly session for me is already really pushing it, I'd go nuts doing it any more often. It is funny how the deeper you get into this sort of benching, the less you tend to bench (at the gym). :p:
I take it you've graduated by now which is something at least? When I go back to school in Sept. I'm dropping this completely as usual, becomes 100% impossible. (Though you can't imagine the pain of sitting back and watching the ocing action while you know you can get free LN2 at your university.)
Yeah it sucks not being able to bench during the school year, but atleast it saves me some money. I bench weekly when I can, and that's enough for me, but then I don't have to worry about being at the top. It's been frustrating lately though, every time I go to get some LN2 their's some setback that keeps me from benching, either they're closed, they've run out or for whatever reason I can't get to the store. It's killing me. LN2s not cheap here either, I couldn't afford to bench more than once a week.
My LN2 supplier closes at 5 PM but I usually work from 10-6. :D
^That's rough, so far this week I've gone saturday afternoon, which they were closed, and today they were out. Hopefully tommorow I'll have some more luck.
I actually dropped out of school, I got a job that works out good for me. It is probably not permanent but I am happy for now. I can imagine that pain very well ;)
To get back on topic here is a few pics of the rigg that i took with my cell on the rigg just before the last run that eneded up in my new personal best in 05.
http://www.assembly.org/summer07/new...ral/kinc_2.jpg
The humidity was very very high in the Hartwal arena where assembly were held.

Good to see HD 2900s kicking a**.
Now if only the HD 2600 drivers can stop making it perform worse than the X1650 series prior to it
Perkam
pick it up before work then call in sick.lol.
Eva you say the red part you can see on the LN2 session pics?
It's just the base of the stock cooler, we don't remove it on the 2900
Hey looking the pics sampsa, it was a real big convention..
So I have tested the rev4.1s now nd the result is awsome :D
-70C both pots 1200MHz core at 1.48V np! never been close to that before. Needed 1.58V for that. Core temp is much lower and everythin is much more stable wihout the thin coldplates between.
I've made a interesting discovery for the X38 future in canyon flight of 3dmark 06:
1080 to 1140MHz core gains about 5.0 fps.
1140 to 1170MHz core gains about 1.0 fps.
1170 to 1200MHz core gains about 0.5 fps.
This was done on 145MHz PCIE freq.
Now at 1200MHz raising the PCIE freq. to 148MHz gained 1.7 fps. How sick aint that?! :D
Looking around for a good kentsfield to be able to run 06 full again. These test were done with 4640MHz cpu.
Oh KINC with these new pots you will now produce WR's every month :D !
Awesome results!!
BTW do you now how are looking prospects with Phenom CPU? If it can clock then you will have nice RD790 boards with full PCIe bandwidth for 2 or even 3 cards :) !
PS. Any chances for full throttle numbers this week??
Very nice Results Kinc
CF @ 2900xt rocks :)
@Kinc you have got a PN from me, not seen? or no i wount get an answer ?
Feichti
Kinc,I have one question. How much you spend on ln2?:D
How much is one your bottle?
That isnt much,i can say it is a good job you did :D
And another question. How much did you pay bottle, just bottle without ln2?I`m looking to buy it,but the price is just too high, cca 650$
I think that's about normal for retail...check eBay. :D
