your results are great.. what bios do you use??
I think your lucky because you have an E6700 that have high cpu wall??
what is the highest fsb you can do?? what is your cooling?? :)

Definately interested if the board suppors 1333mhz FSB as I'm about to grab a 6850 to replace my E6600 today.
@ Venom-Crusher
Very nice!
Anyone have anything to add? Has anyone received their G0 stepping processors yet? I spoke to DFI on the subject, and the general feeling I got was it would be supported, but is still in R&D delayed due to some sample processors not arriving, or something like that.

g0 works on p965. overclocks like absolute :banana::banana::banana: though.
Sorry Enoc. Extremely disappointed.
Will do 8x400=3200 with 1.37v actual. But will not do 8x420=3360, even with 1.5v actual. Not even with high vtt/vmch.
I've had 3 e6400's before this, and all would do 8x400=3200 with 1.28-1.32v actual.
what are your bios settings on the dfi?
No it couldn't. It'd post, but it was horribly unstable. If I used rmclock to clamp multiplier at 6x, and setfsb to bring fsb to 450, it was instant lockup.
I'm back to my e6400 l628a and chugging along at 8x450 again.
I've tried stock vtt/vmch. 1.27vtt, 1.3vmch, 1.35vmch, 1.5vmch, 1.5vtt. No help. dq5 tests too with no help.
I figure the thing didn't have much life in it anyway if 8x400=3200 required 1.37v actual to not flake out. Seeing how my past 3 e6400's all did 8x400=3200 with 1.28-1.3v, and subsequently did 8x450=3600 at roughly 1.5v, it doesn't look well for this g0.
Oh well. g0 was really just impulse buy to satisfy my 4ghz craving. Current e6400 isn't slow for me, so I guess I'll stick with it until penryn or so.
I think the retail e6850 G0 will perform better...(I hope so!)
I used 703 Bios w/WaterCooling (Swiftech kit) ,Multiple7 max boot to windows from bios I can do is 577MHz
I will try again at multiple6 :)

Oh, I did not my validation was posted here... That was a rather quick FSB test.
Yesterday I was about to test different dividers for the RAMs but that do not work. :( I do not know if it is related to the latest BIOS or not.
Instead I did another quick test:
vcore: ~1.44v
Cooling: ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme with noname-fans (meaning no Deltas yet)
Temp: 45,44,44,45 according to core-temp

valid:

I have not tested higher vcore yet.
EDIT: Anyone else having problems with dividers?

great CPU. :D great results! :D as for me, im severely limited by my Proc. :(
We were really impresed with how this mobo can perform for hours with sub-zero temps. We had a Dry Ice session (me and matose) a few days ago and it just kept on going without any problems. Really, really impresive. We had to work on the CPU, Ram and everything else, but the mobo performed superbly, with all the stress we gave it.
hey guys any results for a retail E6850 or E6750?? really needed to confirm..
got a l719a e6750.
personally, my board won't do 500fsb stably anyway for one reason or another. if you want to exclude the board, then it's probably picky about the buffalo gkx i have (tried potentially 4 different sticks singly).
that said, my everyday overclock with my l628a e6400 is 8x450=3600 1:1 fast/fast mode2/mode1 dq4 104pcie 1.3vnb, 1.2vtt, 1.6vsb, 1.5vcore, 2.1vdimm 4-4-4-9-4-28-11-9-2-8-6-6-5-4-4, c1e, xd, vt all on.
but when i put in my e6750, even 425fsb is a chore. 1.7vsb seems to appease it for the most part, but it's still a bit unstable, even with 1.55v actual running through the chip, even with 6x multi. 6x425=2550 only. 8x400=3200, which it can do with 1.37v under load. tried vtt too.

@ Ziddy: How did you get the DFI 965-S to post with a 1333 CPU? What does this in your siggy mean: "703RHX+SLP1+2"
Thanks!
simply drop it in and it just goes. no special trick to getting it to post. that said, on my e6400, i even bridged the corresponding bsel to vtt to make it also post at 333.
rhx = rebels haven
slp1 = dmi for xp royalty oem
slp2 = rsdt/slic for vista royalty oem
The slp1 and slp2 is added to the bios? Does that help it boot 1333?
no relation whatsoever. 1333 is supported natively with dfi bios already. no modification needed.
Thanks!
Ziddey get rid of the rhx, go back to the normal bios, 424, or 703..and try this settings...

Hey guys how do you get your memory stable I can do it!!! I played with all the settings & voltages & I always get memory errors in memtest+ test 7 & windows memtest it says this -
http://www.livinglarge.pwp.blueyonde...s/memerror.JPG
I tried with 3 different set of memory (2 x Crucial GMH & 1 x G Skill PC8000 GKX) & 2 x CPU's & it wont go away!!!
What does test 7 test anyway?
Help is appreciated
What should be the best BIOS when using subzero cooling?
I've been trying to get the board stable for hours using both an E6300 and E2160 and a Mach2. It seems like the max stable fsb on the mach is even lower than on air (360x9 not stable on mach, stable on air) no matter what voltage I set. Both ram and NB don't get too hot, cpu temperature is at -50.
Does anyone have a suggestion before I get rid of this board?
Using the 4/24 BIOS my board does 500+ easily. Haven't tried the latest
BIOS.
Edit: Are you running the memory at 1:1? The board dislikes 4:5 although most any 965-S should do 400FSB at 4:5 with enough NB voltage.
running 1:1, will try the 4/24 this evening.
We got 505Mhz (1:1) on sub-zero cooling (dice), but that was the CPU's FSB wall (E6600), not the mobo's fault.
Damn, bios went corrupt :(
Does someone have a spare bios chips he wants to flash for me? :(
has anybody tried 333 fsb cpus?
Yeah, they work even with the stock BIOS, it's already been talked about it.
Yes, but the only question left is HOW good do they work compared to P35 boards...
New Bios is available : 0725
In test, soon :)
oooh thanks
hmm description not too exciting. wonder what it brings for overclocking.
Major Reasons of Change:
Patch for Intel Celeron 430 CPU temperature issue.
No diff in OC for me. That bios has been out for a few days. I'm running the mod for 2 days.
4/24 is the only one that lets me clock my E6300 at 100% overclock. Any other BIOS above that means a reboot on windows load at anything above 3.6
Yep. DFI really hasn't come out with a significant update for BIOS on this board yet. Only people with very specific issues with their hardware are in need of a bios flash at this point. Otherwise there is absolutely no benefit from doing do.
always nice to hope they did something big behind the scene :)
i definitely noticed a marked decline in o/cability after 424, but my everyday o/c is still fine (only 450fsb)
Did anyone had a problem with higher vdimm=worse OC? It's really strange to me. I borrowed DFI 965 from my friend, he run 2x1GB CellShocks on it and he didn't have any problems with vdimm. My sticks likes voltage also (D9), but for some mysterious reason with 2.4V I can't do a 1M on a clocks which with 2.2V are completly ORTHOS/SPi stable. I checked the Vdimm with DMM and everything seems to be OK, tried a lot of bios settings combination, but still no-go.
hi guys was just cheaking if my newly bought ocz fan cooler whould fit on my man i think it may of hit of my hr-05 nb cooler.
when i looked up the screen was white so i restarted, the mobo made a strange beep,
;
here is the beep it makes :http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...t=CIMG1441.flv
i have cheaked the ram -gfx -replaced the nb heatsink.help with beep code error
i cant thnik of anything else that will be casuing this.any ideas welcome
i have taken the mobo out of the case but still no go :( (get the same beep)
anyone know what could be the problem?
I have the same problem. Latest official BIOS, when I set 2.2-2.3 VDIMM I get Memtest errors @ test #5, with SuperTalent 2x1GB DDR2 800 4-4-3-8 2.2V.
I'm running 3.62Ghz, DDR2 906 4-4-4-12 2.0V
Can't get it stable @ FSB500... I don't know what happens... it posts perfectly but it never start booting up.
Config:
E6420 "ES"
DFI P965-S
2x1GB SuperTalent DDR2 800 4-4-3-8
TR Ultra 120 Extreme
I hate the Vdrop of this motherboard... is there any vmod?
I think I solve my problem after 2 weeks of fight with this mobo. Today I set voltages:
CPU: +150mV
VTT: 1.425 V
vDIMM: 2.4 V
vNB: 1.6 V
vsb: 1.5V
2nd vsb: 1.05V
vNB must be set to 1.6 to work with vtt=1.425 and vtt=1.425 is needed probally for higher vDimm.
Ent i'm more stable with the 424 bios...but now i can boot 6x515 1:1...with 703...would not get into windows...:)
i want to change my ram too...these ballistix are not doing well...they scale well 2:3 cas 5..but 1:1 cas 4..needs a lot of volts...
to open more vtt options you just have to raise the sb voltage...
yotomeczek what are your bios settings? i saw you hit 555 over at ocx...:D
What is the higher FSB that anyone got with this board?
Well, the link doesn't work so I don't know what the beep is. If it's a single long beep it indicates DRAM error. The other one is video error code that is one long keep and three short
beeps. Can anybody help me get past 9x376? At 3.4GHz my hd's seem to crazy and at the boot I get a message that some windows file is corrupted or missing. I have managed to get the comp booting at 3.4GHz to desktop but only thing that I see is the wallpaper and the taskbar or the icons are not loading up (=harddrive going crazy?). Works fine at 3.3GHz and is 10h Orthos small fft's+3Dmark05&06 stable. I tried upping the nb and sb voltages bit but they didn't seem to have any affect. pci-e bus is set to 100MHz and spread spectrum is disabled. Power saving features shouldn't have anything to do with this so I have them enabled. Vcore is upped three notches from bios and vdimm is at 2.1v. Any advice is welcome :)
4:5=667MHz. Nb strap is on default.
Thanks man! It helped, I'm running Orthos now @ 3.4GHz.
How much can I raise the VTT voltage? I'm using the 1:1 divider and it's 10h Orthos stable and the temps are ok.
hi i am running raid atm.today when i got home my pc was hannging in the middle of a "bad boot error" said the way to fix this was by insirting ur vita cd and doing a reapir but my problem is the when i have raid enabled my bois will not boot the cd but go straight to the error i get when trying to boot windows.
when i plug out the 2 hdds and the bios raid program cant find them it auttomaticly boots the cd then but that doesent help as i cant reapir my windows.
i have cd first in my boot order but i dont know why it wont boot the cd when it can see my 2 harddrives.
is there a bois seeting that can fix this can some1 please help.

Some thoughts about this board...We have 2 P965-S and one simple (non S) version. From personal experience I found out that the S version gets a little bit hotter. The Non-S version stays really cool (NB and SB heatsinks) but the S versions sometimes needs additional cooling. The NB and SB heatsinks get very hot.
Another thing that I have noticed with this board is that it really doesn't like quads. We had an Q6600 3DM2005 stable at 3600Mhz on a different board, but we couldn't get it past 3015Mhz on this board.
Didn't have too much trouble with my B3 :)

Well....I am really curious how many P965 owners managed to get a quad working like that on their board. For the record, what bios version did you used?
I didn't have any luck with a B3 or G0. I have never thought it is a great mb. I hate that you have to use 1:1 on memory. I hate the memory testing when posting.
There are too many users who have had trouble with quad to say this is a good quad mb.
Bios was 424. The 4:5 divider is a real problem with this board but as you can see, the 2:3 divider works just fine. It's not a great mb for quads, but few P965 boards are. I have 3 680i based boards that I tried my g0 and B3 in. I finally gave up sli and switched to this board until the x38 comes out.

Hey guys this is my highest achievement so far. My CPU hits a wall at 484FSB. So i dont think i can go any higher.
hey guys im having problems.i cant boot past 3ghz.
i just got an extra 2gbs there so now i have 4x1gb's of ram.
my ram is memtest stable till around 970.
the voltage i am using is cpu:1.55 nb:1.4/1.5 ram:2.3
the probelm i am having is when i boot into windows over 3ghz the pc just restarts after about 2 minutes.it feels to more like a power issue or sumthing.
before i got the 2gb's of ram my cpu was rock stable at 3.6 ghz.
any ideas what could be doing this ??/
hope ye can help
This board doesn't do so hot with 4 sticks of RAM. With 2 x 1GB I've gotten up to 3.73Ghz on my E6300 (overclock limited by RAM). With 4 x 1GB (all 4 sticks of the same RAM and overclock the same), I can barely get to 3.4GHz. I think for 4 stick overclocking you're better off with a P35.
New beta bios 904 is available.
http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Downloa...FLAG=B&SITE=US
Major reasons for change:
1.Change logo
2.Update CPU microcode
I have it installed. No problem putting exact same overclock settings in and booting up. The logo change is on the POST screen. I liked the old logo instead the new one and black screen it's kinda light and a little hazy but that's trivial. Gonna see if by some miracle i can get a little bit higher with the quad.
edit: Just ran super pi 1m to see if any change with EXACT same overclock settings that i was just using with 703 bios. Shaved .11 off my previous time. Although not much. For those super pi tweaks out there that can be significant.

Bye! :)
Unortunately VTT does absolutely nothing to increase stability for me. And if it will only net me a 100mhz more or so then it's not worth it IMO. Call me 'not so xtreme' i guess. :)
Needless to say the new BIOS only netted me super pi gains. I wasn't expecting it to allow a higher clock but there was still a bit of hope there.
@Grips
What do your voltages read @ idle vs. load, i.e. the 12+, 5+ & 3.3v. I have that same ocz psu and never bothered with it because I assumed it would be under powered for overclocking a quad.

This new bios, what is the CPU Micro code, and will this help with overclock and wall on my cpu or must i just get another CPU...
I want to get 4ghz
I have to admit i've been a bit lazy as of late. I was planning on getting a new PSU when switching to a quad but i decided to use it anyway to see if it would hold it's own. So far it has. I have not taken a DMM to this one yet. But smartguardian show's no dip in voltage on the +12v line while under load. Pretty much stay's at 12.09v according to smartguardian. +5v is 4.91v. Not sure about 3.3v nothing i have installed seems to report it correctly to what is showing in bios(3.33v)
Microcode update:http://blog.springdaemons.com/articl...crocode-update
Will not help with overclocking.
Any thoughts how I could get 3.7GHz stable? I have tried upping all the voltages but it seems to do no good. Is it possible that my memory can't do 828MHz with 4-4-4-12 2T timings using 2.2vdimm? I guess 2.3v is ok for benching but is it safe for 24/7 use?.
Probably not the RAM. I have the same sticks and they only need 2.1v to run rated timings @ 850mhz.
Yeah I kind of thought that the mem's were not the problem. Maybe it's inadequate nb/cpu cooling? My temps are 67 at load with 3.6GHz clocks.
For CPU 67C load is fine. What kinda voltage are you feeding the NB? I needed to give it 1.35v to get past 350 FSB. Still running it @ 1.35 425 FSB. I have no heard of needing to raise VTT for dual's but it's worth a try if you haven't done so allready.
Nb voltage is 1,45v. It might be too much cos If remember right I raised it to 1,45v when I tried 3.7GHz and now I don't remember how much it was originally at 3.6GHz. VTT helped for me so it's 1,37v now.
anyone having problems with pc rebooting during stress testing or doing anything cpu intensive? im at 333 fsb my pc would always reboot during p95. i tried all the vcore, vram, vtt, vnb combo still does it. couple of days ago i prime for 12 hrs straight... but today, i go to prime again pc just reboots
ram timing is 5-5-5-15 at ddr1000 2.2v
vcore 1.375 uping to 1.4 would still reboot pc.
should i just return this board while i have a chance and get something that is recommended for quad core?
im using 333FSB for my 24/7 settings.
CPU +137.5mv (CPU 333x10)
Vdimm 2.2v (2:3 DDR2-1000 @ 4-4-4-10)
NB 1.25v
SB 1.5v
SB05 1.05v
even until 400FSB NB1.25v is stable for me.
Im not quite sure with a Q6600 though. :P hehehehe
