mine died ... :( vapo fits fine on it kinda also my mobo on the nb heat sink dose not say dark and infinity ... whats up with that :( priming killed it over night @ stock speeds ......
thats a real bummer man, sad to hear it
quick question, does anyone notice any type of vdroop on this thing, i noticed a little of vdimm droop when loading but the vcore stays steady as a rock when a load is put on, everst or the dfi monitor dont change at all from idle to load
well heres a run with my 6600 and my crucial ballistic ddr2 800 set 2x1gb
only changed the four ram timings everything else ram wise is in auto
http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/1...un500x8wc2.jpg
sell me your e6600 :)
ohh no i loved this mobo i think it just got a bad one :) it worked very well for a week but i think it was a power surge in my house or my psu died my 700 ocz 1 stick of memory and the mobo all died that night
very nice so far, 1.55vmch (1.53 actual) stock nb cooler with as5
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4273/525x7fz4.jpg
Mine will be here tomorrow, WOW I just ordered it Last night too, No need to pay any extra shipping for me ;)
i lowered vmch to 1.34 and doing 500fsb, lookin good so far i hope it holds at that voltage (i think thats even in intels specs :p: )
For those of you that changed the TIM on the NB...any tips? I had a helluva time w/ it. :(
Can you run with 4-4-4-12?
Usually u pinch the pushthrough tabs from the underside of board to make them pop out the top. Then use white spirit or alcohol based cleaner to remove previous thermal interface material and apply AS5 being aware that its electrically conductive. Artic alumina has almost the same thermal properties but is non-conductive, and u can get a bigger tube for less money.
You haven't seen the board, have you?
For me, no need to touch vMCH & VTT for 500fsb.. :D
-> heatsink on chipset was warm, compared with P5B-Dlx..

Yep, something wrong with your time, it should be way better, at least 12.7 and lower even with 5-5-5.
This is a four layer board, any additional (undue) pressure around the CPU socket or flexing can kill the board. In fact, with a Tuniq 120 on it, just applying pressure on it slightly to flex the board will result in a brown out or power down, or in one instance a kill. ;) The board is also very sensitive to the power supply being used. Still, overall, this is a really good board for the price.
Back instock @ eWiz,$149.35 though. I went ahead & ordered. I can't sit by the pc all day waiting on Newegg to get 20 in & run out before I can order:)
hmm, I guess 1066strap isn't much different than other boards like ds3 and p5b then eh?
Or to speak, those other boards aren't exactly on 1333strap. It looks like this board shares the same internal latency change going above 400 from the looks of it.
Look at memory latency at 500fsb 1:1 in that pic. I get the same on p5b. Running 400 4:5 for 500, I get in the 40's.
ive got my cellshock in right now at 4-4-4-12 and it seems to be on par with my abit quadgt, infact they are about the same as far as speed goes, this one may be a little slower but not by much
the tim or whatever it is on the NB is actually some of the hardest ive ever had to remove, kind of a pain but got it off
update also, i am pulling 12.719 for 1M pi runs with 500fsb now, i used the settings that mascaras showed us in his thread and it works really well,
it's fast but not the fastest :)

Thanks Eva2000 :(
Now I don't know if I want to order this or just get a P5B Deluxe Wifi. :p:
Yeah and neither is that. ;)

You guys can drop whole "which board is faster thing," its practically 100% dependent on the MC which the DFI obviously shares with every other i965P board out there.
The DFI's strengths are clearly its price and voltage options. The P5B has the bells and whistles. Make a decision based on that and not on pi scores...
dont forget DFI have 5 (five) RAM MODES and 24 Ram settings you have to try them all to find the best config to SPi1M
Btw:
my friend on Asus P5B deluxe its even faster

in the case of 32m, there's a whole host of 'tweaks' people use, hard to compare apples and apples when one does not know for sure how many of the tweaks have been applied or if any at all on some runs. Copy waza, maxmem, 2003 to name but a few legal ones, and that's not considering the use of other 'special' programs that are being used here and there by people. That being said depends if you buy your boards just for 32m, it's a nice bench, but I would not make a purchasing decision based upon that alone.
All of yous are having great success but my mobo seems worse then my infinity 975x. I used run that board 9x400 mem@500 4-4-4-12 prime stable for 10 hours. But with this thing i cant even do it for 10 mintutes. :(
I dont know if any one else have this issues with this motherboard, when i ran blend stressing in orthos or prime95, there are squeezing sound comes out from the motherboard?
Well newegg took down their projected arrival of today and it's disappeared from ewiz again. :(
@shimmishim
I don't doubt it's a top-notch board. I still have pages bookmarked where Coolaler was showing it off. :p: You're right about the price, it's very nice.
are you guyz buying mobo based on who has better pi or because of overall benefit?
if you're buying cause of "who has longer :banana::banana::banana:" you're pathetic...get a life people :P
no offense ;)
lol,i stopped wondering about those things Tedy...i know most people around here don't care about their e-penis,but really wanna take hardware to the limt...On other sites,it's quite different...
i bought this motherboard because it can help me achieve extra 100mhz on my e6400 @ 3620 with the same voltages of my Asus p5W @ 3480. so i think it wroth it.
man not at all, i just want a mobo that can run ram fast as it can (or atleast is rated for) and i want to be able to use a multi and high fsb with my 6600, ever since my p5b-d died i have not had that, the quadgt is a great board but couldnt oc ram
so i got this guy which has everything i need for $145 so
and running pi and stuff is fun anyways
I consider myself a pc enthusiast that likes leading edge cost conservative technology. I have a couple of E6400's & one does 4 ghz easily on air with 1.58v@ load. The only board I could easily achieve this on was the p5b deluxe. Every other board I have either won't reach 500FSB or is unstable when getting their. Others seem to be reaching 500FSB with little to no increase northbridge voltage. It also appears to be a stable 500 FSB, & not just for Pi runs. This board may succeed where the Rd600 failed & help me max out my E6400.
P.S. my order from eWiz has already shipped:)
Hi,Rmclock work great whit this Dfi?
Forgive my :banana::banana::banana:tiness, work took a mean turn the other day. :( Also forgive the blur in the pic below. The intel style loop's too close to the bridge and this means the hook hits the nb wo/ coming free. Bending the loops will get them out alright, but putting everything back caused some slip-slidin' on the nb. :p: Contact looked good after checking and it gets wicked hot wo/ fan, so it's doing a great job wickin' away the heat. It just would've been nice to have holes. :toast:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/IMG_1862.jpg
Best i could do :(
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a6/...er420/jpeg.jpg
Not really the reason why i purchased the board but definitly a nice board.
where did you get this new smart guardian guyz?
it came with my board on the cd
i have version 2.01 which one you have fellas? :)
ive got version 2.03 also
by the way heres the highest oc ive gotten on this baord, just a suicide type run but oh well,
http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/2459/500x9md0.jpg
the hr-05 has clips, so yes
Should i be disappointed? I cant help it.:( I figured id be able to do 7x500 but i cant get it to boot.
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a6/...420/jpeg-1.jpg
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a6/...r420/oc1-1.jpg
so how come no one breaks 500fsb? is there something going on or is it just that no one is really pushing for higher then 500?
I need at least 540 or a new cpu :)
thanks menace, my 24/7 stable oc on the quadgt with this cpu was 3960, i havnt set up a 24/7 for this board yet, having too much fun playing with it
revv23, i tried 525 and worked fine, i havnt tried any higher as single stage phase and my chip i dont really need any higher right now, i will shoot for max fsb tonight and see what i can do

i already run 500FSB+ out of the BOX >> http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=141469
And my friend can also run 530 FSB with E6600
regards
I would like to see some pics of how that would look, seems like too many are un-necessary though. Do you really need those giant heat sinks on your memory? most good sets of memory already have the heat shields and if you were to remove them you would void the warranty. If you left the shields on then the heat sink wouldn't be effective at all?
Yeah, they're mostly unnecessary, but it'd be nice to look at.
I was experiencing squeezing sounds come out of the motherboard while stressing the ram and cpu, and now the motherboard wont even boot up, sigh.
is that a sign of cpaciters getting ready to go, would be a bummer if that was this boards downfall
mine came back to life and now o/c's Better :) dont see how it could maybe i had some seting messed anyways Yay :) also i have herd no sound from mine cept the speaker on the mobo makes beeps sometimes when boot and somethimes in windows
Mine appears to be dead as well. My power LED blinks extremely rapidly, one long ass beep. I cant find any beep codes for this board either. Ive checked everything 8 times, including using one dimm, swapping dimms, using one single dimm in each socket.:( Sometimes the board will start, than shutoff immediately, than repeat.
its Psu Same thing with my strider 850 watts would start Beep once Then go crazy and strobe light :) switched to my ocz 700 watt and all worked Fine also Same thing with 1 slot of ram would work so im sure its psu
Well im not changing out a Silverstone 850 to run this damn board, thats for sure. Thanks
Does this thing overclock with 4x 1gb well?
Just bested my previous P5B Deluxe top 1M w/ a sub 16 run. That's stable and I'm not using loud fans or any water...just a regular joe's results. :D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...arks/dfipi.jpg
you have strider ???
also with 1.56v 4.4g super pi1m shot
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i5.../notbadspi.jpg
man they really don't want me to have a dfi board. first dfi didn't get my attachments so they didn't ship the board. then i ordered from ewiz and they "shipped it" but forgot it in the warehouse. i don't think i'm ever going to get this board
interesting, so it doesn't work with the silverstone strider?
Yes, its a Zeus but as another poster has replied, his was doing the same funky hyper flash and beeping until he changed the PSU. Im sending the board back. Ill try one more and see what happens.
Seems to be a compatibility issue with the Silverstones for some reason.
DFI NF4s had issues with Zippy's
this board seems to have issues witht he Zeus/Strider
I have a PC Power Cooling 510W SLI-ReadY PSU, but i also tested with my OCZ Powerstream 520W PSU, both does not work. When i press the Power Button there was no sign of anything, then 3 secs later the power led blinks, and it turn off immediatly.
Perhaps you guys can try these psu's with less load? Maybe one hard drive & video card only (possibly low end). I't seems the power connection to the motherboard for the cpu is sharing a rail. Your boards are behaving the same way as if the cpu power connector was not plugged.
I am pretty sure the squeezing sounds were come out of the capacitors, but i am going to request an RMA.
For those people looking for the board it has been listed at Atacom and does not say in or out of stock so I took a chance and ordered on Sunday. They called me to let me know thats it out till the middle of may. So don't place any orders there. They really should list its status like most of the other stores but o well. So I ordered all the other parts today lol....If I can't find one by tonight then its a Quad GT for me. I would be happy with either one in any event.
Sorry to hear your frustration bro, I went through the DFI shuffle in the beginning. I can't begin to imagine the amount of email they're receiving w/ all of use letting our buds know about this hot board.
Here's the orthos shot to back up my previous...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i500orthos.jpg
hey raju...
is DFI not going well with silverstone PSU?? any inputs.. :) guys please post your findings... :) tnxs.. :)
Using mine with a E6400, 7900GS and 4 hard drives using HEC 460W PSU. Seems stable for me so far at 8*400Mhz
Does the Enermax liberty 500w work well with this board?
Not listed here but then it might just not be tested yet:
http://csd.dficlub.org/forum/showthr...er+recommended
ive got a Zeus and the other guy has a Strider. Neither seemed to work. Looks like a compatibility issue to me and i dont see DFI doing a damn thing about it. They didnt with the AMD NF4 SLI LP and Zippy's.
I didn't, just left @ default.
Has anyone who is having problems with their psu hooked up the extra power connection on the mobo? There is a header on the board that takes the same connector as the fdd.
I found this out, I RTFM!!!:fact:
Maybe before everyone is crying fowl on DFI, someone can try this.
ztop, those temps are kinda hot even at 1.40v and with a Scythe. Mine's doing 60C too but stock cooler and lapped IHS. VCore's about 1.42v for my setup
Hicks121: Yeah, that connector is important. Before plugging it in, even at 1.45v couldn't get it to be stable at 3.2Ghz but now with the connector in, I can achieve the same clocks with lower voltages
Well curiousity got the best of me and I set up my board with my Zeus 750.
It booted up and I'm in the bios.
So I guess I don't have a problem,,, yet. :)
What I would like to know is, where are the contact points to measure the voltages? My 12 rail is 11.77 at idle with just my 8800gtx on the board.
Well I have not hooked my board up yet, but will be getting to that this weekend & see how this baby clocks. My P5B-D would run my 6300 @ 535fsb stable, but its kinda warm so 500 is my #.
