Get uguru from here.
It is in the utilities section, all the way at the bottom for latest release.
Working fine with water on NB. :)

I have upgraded to the latest beta bios and to the new uguru but when i start uguru it says: please log in as a administrator and run this program once so that you wont se this dialog box again. How am i supposed to do that when i only have one account and i have tried in safe mode logging in as a adminstrator but is says still the same thing. help hehe.
did anyone try any other software for OCing / monitoring the quad-gt .... like systool, clockgen, speed fan.... i assume they dont work like mbm hasnt for a while on uguru chips but i see that speedfan and systool have support for later uguru boards
there seems to be a bug in the installer of 3.101.Quote:

Exactly, fresh install is the only way I could get it to work right on XP, but from what I hear Vista owners don't have that problem.Quote:

I had a temp AL8 after selling my AMD rig when waiting for conroe....I used uguru and its not bad, its good for OC, changing voltages, fan speeds etc, never had it freeze the system and stuff like that when making big jumps.....its just that I wouldn't like to use it as monitoring app....its a little to bulky to run all the time, slowly responces, and most importantly no loging option at all, i love mbm and its loging although i know uguru will never be supported in it and thats why im asking if systool or speedfan work at least on the QuadQuote:

Bit of a daft question but what exactly is the CPU VTT? I've had some issues with my max FSB, 525 POSTs but is unstable and the story is the same all the way down to 420 ish @1.5v on the MCH (v bump makes little or no diff). Just pushed the VTT from 1.2 to 1.3V and the FSB is sitting at 450 stable (so far).
I'm guessing the c2d is the limiting factor, VTT supplies part of the chip? Either way, nice boost from it :-) I'll see where i can get to once i get some new waterblock bits, i've hit a thermal barrier at 3.4 Gig. Stock cooling and 70degrees under load FTW :-|
yes with cell shocks 4/5 dose work up to the max it can take
CPU VTT is similar to VFSB on asus boards... same thing, 1.4v seems to be a sweet spot for most cpu's, but some like it more then others. :)Quote:

me so very confused :)
other than that, i can't seem to boot of a usb-device to flash the bios (doesn't fit on a system floppy with a 1 mb bios ...)

With CPU-Z open load up the cpu, you will see your multi change.
Thats a feature not a bug.
you're right, although i did disable all that in bios ... will recheck; cpu-z now gives 3400 correctly under load but other apps (like orthos, 3Dmark, ...) still give 3825...
i'll be back, thanks for the quick reply !
can someone also share their voltage settings for a moderate overclock like 3600 on a E6600 ? Thanks a lot !
ok, had to disable something called C1E ( ? ) and know all is well in all applications ...
strange thing: i can run a super-pi 32m but orthos quits after 2 seconds @ 9*400 ???
current volt-settings : vcore 1,4750 ; ddr2 2.1, mch 1.5, ichio 1.7, cpuvtt 1.4, ich 1.15
any one know what could cause this ? i admit i'm not really being carefull with voltages since i'm only testing for small periods
eeek! man down! Think i've killed the board, though i've no idea how. I've steered well clear of any major V bumps but between reboots i've lost the onboard gigabit LAN port. After a reinstall of windows to check it hadn't been corrupted it appears the audio hardware is dead too. arse
anyone else seen something like this? I've cleared the CMOS but i'm still hopeful it might be some config thing i've missed. Sounding like RMA time though :-(
EDIT: Nevermind, couple minutes of power off with the plug out and the network came back. Off for 10 minutes and the audio device got recognised again
oh, I had the same thing this morning, had been memtesting without problems all night but this morning when rebooting a couple of times, I never got my network ... Hope a powerdown will be my solution as well :-)
orthos still craps out immediatly even though memtest and super-pi work flawlessly :(

was gonna try that tonight, did some quick tests after the first install (bit greedy :p) ; do you mean raise all voltages ? to where ? one below the maximum value ? have some pretty good airflow so heat shouldn't be a big problem ... ; but 8x400 runs orthos without problems and 9x400 won't so i'm guessing it's more related to the other voltages as well
no i ment lower them all to lowest, find out what voltage your mobo/ram needs to run a certain fsb and then play with the cpu. this is if you mean to run it like that 24/7 .... 400mhz isnt that much for a good 965 mobo, my P5Bdlx runs is at lowest voltage mch 1.25 or whatever it is......but ya if u can run 8x400 and not 9x400 then just raise your vcore
Each time i reboot after memtest (dos version), the network and firewire controller are gone. You can not see them in the irq list just after the POST.
Just turn off psu and turn it back on and they are back.
Strange behaviour...
ok, it's not just me then :-)
thanks for additional exp milyions, i'll take some more time tonight to figure things out ... (@ work now ...)
one thing though: i want to upgrade my bios from an usb-stick but I can't set it as a boot-device in bios (i could on my A8N sli-deluxe); it just doesn't appear in the list of (first) boot device ... (there is usb-cd rom, usb fdd, ... but they don't work) ; is this a known issue or am I missing something ? Strangely, it somethings doesn't recognise my usb-keyboard either (regardless of the bios - os setting for usb in the bios)
Anyone tried Command Rate 1T ? Does it work with 2x1024 Cellshock or not?
At 667 it will work, 800 is still flaky with any memory.Quote:

Is anybody using raid 0 with the latest beta bioses? Can you confirm that it's working fine?

Great clocks on the memory though. have you tested with 4-4? bingo found that it was faster then 3-3 becausee of subtimings, my results backed thatup.

The Quad GT dont like 2go with the top of 600mhz (I have evil has benchs in cas 4 or 5) whereas I make 660 4/4/4 or 5/5/5 on NF6 :)
I Prefer Benchs max 3/3/3 (534mhz 3/3/3/8 at 3.5v réel with EVGA NF6)
man down for real ...
after last nights memtest run (8 hours) I just can't get my network (gigabit lan) back, it doesn't show up in the list at startup and doesn't show in windows ... even after powering down for over an hour ... can this have something to do with my overclocking attempts ? do any of the bios changeable volts have an affect on the lan-chip ? I can still enable/disable it in the bios...
thanks for the info about the usb-boot issue !
what Lan Dies ? ive never really memtest more then 3 hours but wth it sould not do anything to it unless maybe pci bus freq
No way?!? Dammit, i'd been hoping that it was a 'feature'. Maybe a check gone wrong at shutdown / startup due to overclocked timings, then disable for safety till a restart.Quote:

The windows flasher is an abit one, works fine except on the first boot it needs a CMOS reset.

wrt network: it usually dissapears when something else went wrong (eg after installing the xfi); just now i DID have the network card visible in windows but now with the cable disconnected sign (which clearly wasn't the case), restoring and rebooting didn't help, I had to clear the cmos for my network cable to be detected again :stick:
something really fishy or just lots of bad luck ... never had so much trouble upgrading (maybe I should've sticked with AMD :slap: )
odd i came off of a P5B-D without reinstalling windows and my XF-I works fine, try reseating it in a different slot, make sure the onboard audio is disabled.
Have you downloaded the latest intel INF files?
If you really need to do it from a floppy use one floppy for booting and another for flashing. (make one bootable floppy disc, then once it loads up command.com, put the disc with the bios and floppy update utiliy in and run it.Quote:

Go to intel's web site and go tothe downloads section and download them for your 965 chipset.
had the same problems after lots of overclocking testing , did a bounch of things trying to fix it reinstal drivers installing drivers bak bios reset rerereset bios took battery out u name it with no luc, i installed an ethernet card and solved that problem, dont really bothers me now since im using a card,Quote:

another question: what prog currently measures temps correctly ? uGuru : 62° under full load at 3600mhz / 1.55 v and core temp beta 0.94 gives 72° ...
I have a tuniq tower 120, do these seem ok ? (hoping that the uGuru is the correct one :p)
I would bet on core temp, especialy at that voltage

I finally got my QuadGT.. What a bunch of problems I have/had..
Am I the only one here, who can't get Vista installed properly on this mobo?
It doesn't go any further, at the last step.. Completing installation
It just sits there and doing nothing. I've waited for over an hour just to see if something should happen, but nothing happens.. it just sits there.. but not frozen.
I now have installed XP, and it works just fine!
Any1?
Vista would not install for me on my Quadcore. You would need a dualcore to run vista for now. Some other people have also claimed to install vista on 680i boards and a few others though. I tried with my dual core and it worked fine. I'm not the only one with this problem too.Quote:

Vista installed just fine on p5B-d + C2Q
Is it just the install that's the problem? Would it be possible to install vista with a dual core, and then swap in a quad core after it's been installed?Quote:

Interesting thought Damnnit, but I was thinking more on the lines of installing the os with a Dual Core 6600.Quote:

Vista ready? Quad CPU ready, Highly Overclockability, YEAH RIGHT!
I updated to Bios B06, and finally succesfully installed Vista.
Then I tried some OCing.
1. Set the FSB to 400 and 1:1 to on the mem ( DDR800), which my P5B did without any problems!
QaudGT reboots as soon as Vista start.
OK, then I set the FSB to 366, and set the mem to DDR¨1050 ( My mem can do 1150 on the P5B, but the QuadGT restarts. Then I put it back on to 1:1. Ok now Vista boots. I started som Orthos, and was getting excited! temps where good, stability perfect. BUT, then I fired up CPU-Z, and to my horrible surprise:
2. The multiplier is set to 6x no matter what setting I use in bios . Yes I disabled thermal Control and EIST, so the CPU is only running 2196Mhz. No wonder I had those great temps!
I was able to go as high as 450FSB with my P5B-D, but why change it to QuadGT, you might ask. Well, the P5B-D suffer from a tremdeous vdroop with a Quad cpu, and according to this thread, QuadGT has very stable vdroop. Thats why I decided for the QuadGT. The FSB performance should by no means be worse than P5B-D, with the C2 chip, right!?
thanks you are a gentlemanQuote:
