I test it. OCCT tell's me that I have stable system after 30min test (priority high). After that I run Orthos and at about 5min my CPU temps are ~5C higher than OCCT, at 10min crashes (not stable system, low voltage).

Day 1 new vista rig, figured I'd throw my 2 cents in. I came here for some voltage info to see what kinda range these have since this BIOS is so absurd on the voltages it lets you use. This was my highest benchable speed for the night, pretty impressed by this proc. EDIT: just use this for reference.. I don't have the time to run somethin for 8 hours. The point is, the 6600 overclocks like balls.

Decent OC right :) ? Its my first time :stick:
Its a bit late now but the memory timings should really include whether it is 1t or 2t command rate and maybe voltages too. Including the temps at full load would b nice too. Core temp would b a nice base for the temps at load.

hehehe now i'm testing 3.6ghz at 1.36v so far only 30 min on orthos. I'll update my stats if i can get this going for 8 hours.
So far it seems like my temps have dropped a good 3-5 degrees.
Its a bit hard 2 tell cuz ambient temps dropped but i'm sure its at least 2-3C

nice result so far indeed! Just 1 thing. You say the memory us running at 950mhz but looking at the screen I see 450 (=900mhz) or am I missing something?
I am now testing my G.skills HZ PC6400 as well and they are now doing 970 @2,1v and 4-4-4-12-2T timings. May I ask your other settings to get it to run on 1T?
I did 3.6 with 1.35 :p:Quote:

Guys, some info is necessary: about E6600 batch code L636Fxxx. My L631A640 OC seems too poor for me: only 3.51 (390x9)@1.51-1.52v(1.55 set in bios-P5N32-E SLI). My seller can make an exchange, but now he has only samples with batch L636Fxxx. There's not enough info on C2D marked F. How dou You think, does it worth trying?

If you look at my ss above you can pretty much see all the info. Also take a look at the memset advanced timings.
For 950mhz 4-4-4-6-1T i needed about 2.2v for stability.
BTW i did some more orthos testing on my board at 1.36v and here's the results.

How much Vdimm are you using?
Perhaps some more voltage might help you tighten the timings.

I,m new to this. How can i get teoseperte instance of prime 95 on ea
thnkas in advance
I know i'm a noob to this but how can i get 2 seperate instance to run in prime 95, tia scott
also is there a good guide to overclock the asus p5n32-e-sli and e6600?

Got my chip running on stock HSF and stock voltage, Please don't put this result to database yet. I have WC setup later this week, then will OC alot more. See the currently temp is COOKING, 79*C loaded. These HSF really sucks, i should lap the CPU IHS too.

you chip needs 1.55v to run 3.3ghz? even with water fuzion block!!! those newer batch chips really stinks, week after 40 is getting weak.
Guys i have the following problem..
I Oced my 6600 to 3400mhz, run orthos for 3 hours ( 49 degrees max - Using SCYTHE INFINITY ) and everything goes ok...All tests PASS.
However when i leave the PC on just running Windows after 1 hour the system HANGS !!!!
Any ideas ???
Im using 1.3V on the CPU..
Should i raise it more for a stable 3.4ghz ??
Hi, Guys. My post is not for statistics, but should be useful for many of You. Also, I need Your advice on the question, put below.
Well, yesterday my seller gave my the sample of 6600 L639A265-true uniq sample. I'm seeking the sample, which is to be stable at 3.8GHz (423x9-is perfect FSB for P5N32-E SLI).
Well, in comparison with L631A640 running stable at 3510 @1.51v (real),- I'd call this new one "Energy efficient".
For the first, it's stock voltage (auto) is 1.2000v (my L631A640 is 1.29v stock). This one is totally cold-27 degrees maximum while calculating Pi32M (Tt Big Water 745; 18 degrees room temperature).
What is much more interesting-this one makes 3.30GHz (367x9) at 1.18v(1.2125 set in bios) With this settings it was able to calculate 32M Super Pi.Temp didn’t exceed 28! Celsius.
Pretty good sample-one could say. I had such a thought, feeling excitement on the OC potential with higher voltage. But failed to reach such desired 3.8.
The problem was (you won’t even imagine) CPU’s extremely high temperature. After 3.3, I tried 3.6 (400x9); CPU demanded 1.365v (=1.32 monitored in bios and by Asus Probe). Load temperature raised up to 37º (SuperPi). I didn’t tru Orthos blending-for I don’t need 3.6GHz.
The next step was 3.8 (I set 423x9). The boot was successful at 1.475v (1.44 real). Pi 8M stable at 1.4875v (1.45). BUT... idle temp. rased to 40!!! Celsius. Orthos failed at 1st minute. 3 minutes under Orthos I could see at 3.73GHz. Probably, I could reach stability at 3.700, after increasing Vcore a little bit. Let me explain, why hadn’t I done it: because after 5 minutes in Orthos (1.45v) the temperature was !!62 degrees. I couldn’t believe that. Such a cold sample at nominal, while burning like hell with voltage not so high (for example, my L631A with 1.55=1.51real gives only 49º running Orthos).
Could You explain my such a mystery? I can’t tell, I’m such a skilled person in OC (only 5 years of expirience ;)), I had tried tens of samples of different CPUs – both AMD and Intel, and NEVER had seen such an intensive reaction for a slight voltage raising... I’m confused.
P.S. already thought about waterblock was mounted incorrectly. But: the trace, left on the heatsink surface by thermalgrease was flat and even; such low temp. at stock Vcore-it tells that waterblock works properly
As far as i know ORTHOS is ment to test the stability of the system while Super Pi is to test the ram stability...
Thats why in Orthos the CPU is 100% initialized and in Super Pi its not going more than 50-55%.....Thats why the temp is so low.
Ok steady at
CPU : 3400mhz / 1.35v
MEM : 850@4-4-4-14 / 2.15v
If you think 62°C is much under load you should check out the numbers you see in this thread.
Heat output of these C2D cpu's is quite shocking, especially when given some voltage.
Mine for example runs 47°C at 3.6GHz under load with 1.4V, 54°C at 3.7 GHz with 1.48V and 62°C at 3.85 GHz with 1.57V all in a 22°C ambient.
Load means Orthos small fft's at priority 9.
This is with mature watercooling.
Don't let temps frighten you, it hardly seems to affect stabilty of these cpu's.
Going through this thread you will see CPU's running at over 70°C still being Orthos stable.
Thanx for answers. Anyway, that sample doesn't suit me. Orthos-not more then 10 minutes at 3.7GHz... and 62-63 degrees (1.44v-real). To make it stable, it needs ~1.48v. I don't even want to imagine, what's the temperature level it will perform.
What I can't understand-is how my L631A makes only 52 Orthos load at 1.51v?
By the way, if thermal throttling starts from 62 degrees on the heatspreader surface?
Those rapid heat/temp gains for just a little more Vcore reminds me of the way the e4300's scale
Unlike the earlier samples that scaled linearly with voltage the e4300's I have tried and maybe some of the later cores dont like too much above default Vcore without some very serious cooling
Here is my entry for E6300. I have had it over 3.6 but longest Orthos SS was 4 hours. I'm submitting this until I can get a 3.6 SS with 8 hr Orthos.
