Disposibileteen,
It (see below edit : my misunderstanding) is my understanding that if the Mclaren F1 is built for a US customer, it is built to meet emissions here too and is considered USA street legal in most, if not all states.
EDIT: Oops, I was actually thinking of the Saleen 7 in what I said above. I'm actually not sure, but the McLaren is probably NOT street legal in the USA as Saleen claims to have the fastest USA street-legal car in the world.
So unless Saleen is mis-advertizing, the F1's probably won't be seen on a highway near you....It would beat you to death while driving it anyway. It's built for slick racetrack handling, not potholes. Not a daily driver by ANY stretch of the imagination.
Ever drive a Testerossa? Similar in the fact that it's a 200Mph racer with bumpers slapped on. Suspension is TIGHT! It will beat you plumb to death, even in neighborhood driving.
HOLY (*&#$)(%*$( YOUR CAR ROCKS!!!! Am i correct in reading it has 590 bhp?Quote:

How about the 205 T16? I would love to own one some day.
zippyc, i have been in the passenger seat of a F1. It's not as bad as you think, you have to remember that the testarossa is crap-car in comparison.
i was under the understanding that the Mclaren F1's had no passenger seat, just a single seat.
Edit - Im wrong, sorry.
its actually 3 seats

The F1's way lighter too, right?
I'm envious that you rode in one, lol. But, still its not really a good daily driver is it? How much would each mile cost you if it drops to half it's value after 90K Mi? Whats the retail on an F1? I read it was $900K. If it lost half that value in 90K mi, thats $5.00 (us) a mile.
Too rich for me. If money was no object I'd have three! (Black, Red, and Blue)
And doesnt it have a center, higher drivers seat, and a passanger seat slightly lower on each side?
Amerikans talking about a british supercar.... ;)
The 2 passenger seats are sligthy lower ye and to the back.
The car comes with a full toolbox (i mean the one u cant lift and driver around ;) with the best tools in the world) also included is a custom set of luxury lugage cases which are designed specially for the storage compartments in the car. It was build as a car which you could drive at any time. My guess is that it aint that uncomferteble....
But wtf are we talking about? Its about super performance cars, i dont care about how the ride is :p I aint gona look for the value etc cuz i really dont care :p When u can afford this car, your other cars will do the things u dont wana do in a F1...
Zippyc, they GAIN value. They are from the early 90s btw.
Right on about the seats, a tight squeeze for sure. Didn't want to be wiseass about the seats lol.
It is a very good daily daily driver. I have just rode in it for a few days (germany and back) but it was good. A bit on the loud side but the chain in the back just sings.
My Dream cars are:
1. Mercedes Benz CLK-GTR
http://xtremesystems.org/forums/atta...id=27791&stc=1
2. Ferrari F50
3. Any other high-priced or rare performance car. :D

i want the new BMW M5
Today i had a ride in a Volkswagen....
It was the best ever ride in a VW :P
V10 Turbo Diesel... with 400bhp and 1000NM
those 1000nm really let it rip :slobber: it drives 150/160kph @ 2000rpm
Top speed he drove was 270... and it can probably get near 300 :D
The V10 TDI from VW is only 313HP :)
My dream car would be either the new Audi RS4, or the Alfa Romeo 156 GTA.
RS4 :

By the way, it's a 420HP beast, and doesn't have any turbo compressors. Yet :D

The Bugatti 16/4 Veyron:

Price: $1,363,116
Curb Weight: 3520 lbs

Transmission: 7-Speed Sequential
Type: Quad-Turbo W16
Displacement: 7993 cc
Horsepower: 1001 bhp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 922 lb-ft @ 2200-5500 rpm
0-60 mph: 2.9 sec
Top Speed: est 252 mph
nice car but going one further id have to say my dream 'vehicle' would be either that bugatti, mclaren F1, the SVS rocket sled http://www.svspower.com/images/upload/video_48_0.wmv (video) its only running 1100bhp there but its final production is 1700bhp
but i think my overal favourite would be a Hyabusa turbo'd which you can now get running at 450bhp now i know a 250bhp would do 90 - 180mph in 3 seconds so god knows what a 450bhp one would do :D
Is it finally for sale then.... ? I dont think so? the 1001 bhp wasnt gona be?Quote:

More of driver here than dragger... :) Cornering ability and good feel on handle with decent power is all I care. Gotta be a little bit older to be able to afford insurance on it :P (Incredibly high on insurance while price of car isn't too much)
Favourite three cars going from affordable to expensive:

And the Porsche 944 :)
These are all models from 90-99 exept the Porsche that is a -85 i think.
They are actually not so expensive to buy but there is a catch :). Insurance and if something gets broken it´s going to cost... alot. Imagine a BMW V12 or a Audi V8 need some repairs. It´s going to cost more than you gave for the car.
I don't have my drivers licence yet :) (i take it easy :) ) but when i do get it i will probably go down to Germany and get me a mid-80´s Porsche 944. You can get one cheap and they are probably old enough so i can do small repairs :) (old= no advanced stuff)
Ive been a Ferrari fan since the early 60s .....That said ;
The 97 Lambo Diablo is THE Most Beautiful car EVER built. (sorry Enzo :( )
It's also VERY,VERY,VERY Fast
I heard Interior engine noise is kinda loud.

check out this baby, Ariel Atom, supercharged honda VTEC producing nearly 300bhp, but it weighs less than 500kg and does 0 - 60 in 2.8 seconds, not very practical but its totally street legal and out accelerates a maclaren F1 and only costs £35,000
Someone watched 5th gear last night ;)
I dont see that sort of car as a dream car personally, it looks great for a blast round a track, but i would personally never run one on the road, too open to the elements for UK driving lol.
G
well yeah, its not my dream car at all, but it looked dam good, if somewhat of a glorified go kart! i was impressed when he went thru the car wash on it tho, i'd just want one for the speed of the thing and the fact its faster than most superbikes, as for dream car, well my dad is a car mechanic and brings home some amazing machines, but the one that stands out is '67 corvette stingray, however this is more than your standard 'vette it has an 11 litre V10 in it, the rear tyres are absolutely huge and you can hear it coming a mile off, the guy that has it takes it to santa pod regularly and it runs mid 9's, i've been down the road in it and even doing 60mph it feels like its gonna disintegrate, that car has some real power
I got the chance to drive a V-10 Stag years ago and it was an amazing car. I believe they were British...weren't they?
yep, good old triumph, never liked the stags myself, i prefered the TR6, dont have the raw power of the stags but i like the look of them, the british spec of course with the fuel injection, not the half assed 100bhp carb versions they sent to america
I think I liked the style more than anything else. I felt like I was driving a Jag. :D
http://www.spc.org.uk/mazda/c-west-rx-7.html
Not with all that stupid crap all over it, but I always thought the late 90's RX-7's were absolutely class
And considering that's just a scale model, it's likely the only one my wife'll let me have
Gray
Funny you should say that, but my mate bought a mint 92 REX last week and I had my first go in a rotary. I only had 3/4 mile of road and perished tyres, but boy was that car quick, I licked up to just under 120mph and then had to brake for my house. It was a great car to sit in and drive, positive gearbox, great steering, nice brakes. Once he has some good tyres we are going to try some filming from the car with me on my ZX7R to see what the performance is like between the two. The REX looks the tits though.
 Nice choice!Quote:

Hitting later this year, Bugatti Veyron 16.4 was mentioned once before (was it mogg?). Anyhow this thing has a quad-turbo w 16. Darn near 1000 Hp.
This ain't your mammas Volkswagen rabbit!
Expected performance (mph):
AWD (70-30)
0-60 under 3
0-186 in 6 sec!
Top Speed - 252 MPH
Rear foil "Snaps" 70 degrees when braking above 124 Mph...this car borrows from aviation and uses "Air Braking" like a plane does with wingflaps when it lands. Outrageous!
They look cool too, all this for a "Cool" $1.3 Mil (US)! I think I'll get one Monday. :p:
Borrows from mercedes more like lol.Quote:

To my mind it just doesnt seem that special, just has a massive engine with huge turbos to get power, nothing interesting like gold foil under the bonnet for best thermal transfer like in the F1.
Cant wait to actually see it come out, it is an awesome car, but fails to create a spark for me.
G
ok, here's my redneck/northwoods/american opinion on cars:
i was brought up with muscle cars, so i am bias. anyone can go ahead and throw a damn supercharger or turbo on an engine and brag how awesome it is. what happened to old-fashioned raw torque and horsepower?
in 1969, a rare package for the corvette was offered. code named ZL-1, this package included an L88 block 427 that, off the assembly line, produced around 500 hp and well over 500fp/torque (in 1969) with one holly 850cfm carb. now let me see some rice grinder touch that kind of muscle off the assembly line!
http://www.autofacts.ca/classics/FAPC/ZL1Corvette.htm
also should be recognized is the original Z/28 package for camaros, introduced in 1968. it included a 4 spd and a 302, which was conservatively rated at 290hp for insurance purposes im sure. without that car, you dont have the z/28 camaro.
and of course, the car that is known to start all muscle cars, the 1964 GTO, which was a brainstorm of John DeLorean over at Pontiac when he took his 63 tempest and threw a 389 in it. :toast:
I would love to drive a audi A8 tuned by ABT
i think my dream car would be a safari window ragtop vw bus. on bags and porche 15s. power would be from a 300hp 944 turbo engine and a triptronic autotranny.... how fun would that be to ride arround smoking ricers in a vw bus :)
Bugatti Veyron!

All about my dad's STi!
lol, i wouldnt mind having the new saleen s7 twinturbo, with an intercooler, 1000 HP enough downforce to drive upsidedown at 160+mph, the 575 HP model with no turbos or intercooler goes 220, it weighs as much as my gd acura integra, which runs 14.9 qt mile with 170 hp, so ya, can u say fast?

Yes its roadlegal (dont ask about rain :D )
I wonder how it would compair in that list ;)
i cant find a single thing about how fast the thing is ....
i cant wait till next year, when the intercooler gets put on the saleen :toast:

Is it road legal? :p:
"the normal" road going version of the 997 gt3 aint released yet right?
great choice perkham. i've seen the previous gt3 on the street one
day a few years back on the drive home from the u. i was coming
along at around ~80km/h and about 350m in front of me another
car was doing about my speed, maybe a little bit faster. midway
between us was a t-intersection where a gt3 was waiting for the
1st car to pass to turn onto the road i was on. so a few seconds
after that car passed him, the gt3 floored it. before i even passed
the intersection the gt3 had already overtaken that other car..
yeeez.. that was one of the <drool>-moments :D
same as the f50 overtaking us in the hills around st.tropez / france..
woot :)
lol, look at the camber on the front wheels XD

I have to agree with perkam, that is the sexiest car I have ever seen, and that includes the custom RUF' and 9FF cars!
Otherwise a Ford RS200 Evolution, the nice car that won Pikes Peak :) Sick car that is...
Thx guys. I know...its an amazing car. The last GT3 went faster around the track than a Porsche 911 Turbo...and was $20,000 less :p: So porsche didnt release its track numbers lol.Quote:

Does anyone get a bit bored with Porsches, they all start to look the same?
They do go like **** off a shove, and are excellent pieces of machinery, but to me arent dreamcars, just lack that something special, cant quantify it.
I think this about almost all German cars I'm afraid, only exception being the SLR MacLaren because of the styling, just gives it something different, not just another AMG Merc.
Wouldnt say no to GT3 though :p:
G
lol, the only porche i would think of thats a "dream" car, would be the carrera GT, :p: its so friggan nice, but to me, dream car is something that looks like a race car, like the pagani zonda, carrera gt, mcclaren F1,saleen S7, not so much teh ferrari enzo, it just has some wierd ass styling i dun like, but ya, nething that looks like a race car, ooh ya, i forgot to mention, when i get half a mil, im buying an indy car :D u can get them street legal, only downside is the rev limiter :( but that can be fixed :)
i have a lot of money i would buy a ferrari f50 or bugatti veyron but the car i want to drive is the michael F1
lol, mc claren .... and get the saleen :) you'd have mroe fun
The Bugatti Veyron flew off its testing track  Yes, flew, at just under 400km/h

Nonetheless the RS200 Evolution 840hp Pikes Peak car has its own charm. After all, 0-195 in 7.1s and a pressure of 1.2G under acceleration is impressive!
In one of the Pikes Peak challenges, Blomquists brakes failed. Nonetheless he continued the race without breaking once and held the 4th fastest time. Sick car!
hahaha, if it flew, it has some major issues of down force
hmmm, 240mph, lol sounds fun
also i noticed they charge about 1000 euro/kmh, with the first 2 on the house...

hahaha, thats sweet, looks kina strange, but, das pretty kool, i must say tho, i would rather stay on the ground
Yeah.
Love the RS200 though. 7,1s to reach 195km/h is pretty darn sweet!
actually the quote about "flew off" is kinda misinterpreted from what i saw. what those engineers said is that that car gets custom made tires that are good for the maximum speed of 252 mph. so it is build very similar to formula one racing tires and those don't work in the wet - because they have special tires to do the job when wet. with the bugatti they had to create a tire that works extremely well in dry conditions, but has to be able to be driven in the wet as well. it can do that, but at very low speeds - and that's where the quote of the engineer comes into play "it (the car) would probably fly off in wet conditions with those tires at the "right" speed" ... (not the exact quote, but closer to what has been written previously :DQuote:

Hmm, I recall reading in EVO that the car literally FLEW off the track.
This can happen, Le Mans proved it twice, same race, same car, same driver :)
:p: In normal everyday driving, when you're under the RPMs required to activate the turbo, that car is slower than a minivan lol - I'm not joking, Top Gear tested it out and in the end they showed a volvo pass it cos of the turbo lag :rofl:Quote:

700 BHP, tops 350 km/h. 6 meters long, a two-seater.
EDIT: It's a Maybach Exelero
Don't like it much Pickle :) Looks too much like a bat mobile.
Saab has nice cards in general.
imo lotus makes some of the ugliest things ive ever seen, i would rather ride a tricicle, cuz i know i could make it look better
:eek2: :soap: its all personal opinion, i agree they arent the best looking cars ever, but pretty dang close... but theyre sick on the track :p:
all the reviews ive ever seen on the elise and exige puts them pwning a Ferrari F1 on road course (though they would ge majorly pwned on a oval track) and i live in mtns, so handeling is one of my pet peeves.... imho there is very few cars that can handle like a lotus
A F1 ferrari? Do you mean a F50 or Enzo or something? A F1 car could never run a mountain road course, the ride height is just too low.Quote:

Lol, are you serious, an Exige pwning a F1 car? You have got to be joking, there is no way ANY road going car could touch a F1 car on any road track tbh, the direction change and acceleration of a F1 car are just ridiculous, just look at how fast they drive around Monaco, that is a road course, fastest lap this year was done in a F1 Ferrari, in a time of 1:15.842, with an average speed of 158.54kph.
If you can drive an Exige around the Monaco lap averaging almost 100mph then my hat goes off to you!!!
The Top Gear lap is a pretty rough road type circuit, fastest lap that has been done in a road car around that is the Maserati MC12 in 1:18.9. The Renault F1 car did it in 59.0secs. The Exige did it in 1:26.4 and the Elise in 1:35.6. The Exige is very quick, but beat a F1 car? Not gonna happen, those cars corner like ****, circuits are what they are designed to do.

just search around, these cars are build for handeling more than speed, their weight distrobution is more important than the power output, especially from the 4cylanders in the elise... lotus = small, quick, and light... in the long run theyll handle better than the F1's and ive seen quite a few roundups with the exige slightly ahead...
and yea, a F1 will blow by any lotus in a straightaway and take the body with it... look at the differences btwn the power plants, lol
Please show me a comparison between a F1 car and a Exige, i see no reason to compare the handling, very few people every get to drive a F1 car, and i dont see them using it to compare against an Exige.
Please show me something where the Exige wins, i would love to see it, the lotus may be light, but a F1 car weighs about 600kg including driver, water and lubricant, and a F1 car is built to be tuned exactly for tracks, with adjustable wing angles and such.
I dont even see how you can compare a F1 car and an Exige, they are just in different categories.
And who on earth manages to get F1 cars for their round ups? They must have some serious contacts.
G
last one i saw was in car and driver, ill search for them when i get home from work...
you sound more like a fan boy anyway...
to me handeling means alot, b/c of where i live, im lucky to see a straightaway even on an interstate...
A fan boy of what? I just fail to see how anyone can compare a top of the line, state of the art, pinnacle of motorsport machine which costs millions of pounds to build to a lowly road car.
I know that the Exige is quick, and i know that it handles well, but it cant pull several G through the corners like an F1 car, they are incomparable.

In my case, the following:
Porsche Carrera GT

Lamborghini Gallardo

And the new Mazerati concept car

That Maserati looks so cool, i remember reading somewhere that the designed built it around the concept of a drop of water (which is what the blue bit supposed to look like or something)
