Ok I see your second score now and it seems about right. I just thought that it should be higher considering I got 4600 with my Sapphire X1950 Pro at stock clocks, with 1Gb of RAM (more now), not to mention you CPU and motherboard are better than mine. I have a mobo coming in the mail along with a whole slew of cooling fans for the case and RAM, so I'm gonna have this b$%ch overclocked in no time.
BTW I RMAd my Sapphire for the HIS model, and I love it.

I would reboot before you run the test so you clear all of the process's running.....this is suggested in one of the tip balloons when you start the app.
Well, ytes, lets try 05mark at 1024x768 (which is the default), and then lets see what results you get.
The score seems normal for me, without OCing that much and tweaking (without mentioning the software and appl you have rruning there.
Running a lot of loops not always will give you the best results.
As Binormalkilla said, close all applications.
I will try newer Riva Tuner version and see how it works.

i'm not a big fan of benchies... atm i'm running them to test oc stability - last night i got to 270x10 stable YIPPEE! My 3d06 score WITH all my bg apps running was 4473; i just did it again but with bg apps off & i got 4484... no comment... i'll b trying for 2.8 today, & depending on how quick n easy i get that, then i might start oc'ing the vid card finally
binormalkilla because your card has no reference gpu/mem freq bios can you please dump your bios by "atitool -> settings -> miscellaneous -> save vga bios to file" or "rivatuner.exe /BI bios.rom" and upload somewere or mail me to gafs_inbox.ru.

Yea I saw that, anyone tried it for OCing our memory? It supposed utilizes the OCing technique that is necessary for our finicky memory.

No, that is totally fine! As long as it isn't the Ultimate. I had the Sapphire model before I RMAd it for the HIS. I had some VRM overheating issues. Kain has the Sapphire model as well. My scores were right around yours with my Sapphire. You may want to look into getting some RAMsinks for the VRMs, as well as a Zalman VF900 for it, or some water cooling.

I have tried to change memory timings. First with ATITool , no change, then with Rabit 2.2.0.

Edit: 775 Mhz @ crashes. Upgrading to Core2Duo Platform would cost me 590 €. Would it be reasonable as I now have singlecore CPU and I don't play games, I just overclock :banana::banana::banana::banana:. My 3500+ Venice is all ready at it's max. I think I would get 11000 in 05 and 6000 in 06 if I updated, so pretty expensive. Or do I just buy X1950XT and get 13000 3DMark05. Or another X1950 Pro? I have DFI NF4-D which won't run in Crossfire I suppose?
Anyone tried increasing the PCI-E bus speed for our OCs? I read somewhere that it helps for our cards.

All good news! there is update to 27MHz memory step: actually the memory frequency can be changed in 6.75MHz steps. for example if you have now reached 783MHz the next step will be 783.00+6.75=890 but not 789 (eg. rounded). btw you can use ATI Tray Tools with driver level method enabled - this gives no stucks black screens. to use it you must enable "overclocking limit" and set it to 200-300% in tool settings - this gives up to 2000(DDR) memory frequency setting range. but there is an issue with driver which prevents correct memory frequency to be set. look what i set and then what i get:

nicepun weird. i'm not sure but i have 300%. nothing goes back. i'll check it. last version of ATT already kills ati hotkey poller on startup. i didn't try yet ATT with low level - only RT. will try tomorrow.

One side NOTE: You must enter the values on the right column that you provided, otherwise you get the black screen and freeze. And yes I'm using the latest ATiTray Tools 1.2.6.964!
So what's the point using ATI Tray Tools? Rivatuner 2.0 or bios tuning works well enough.
I have set Bios clocks 650/755 GPU/MEM
real values are 648/749. Tried that ATI Tray Tools thingie, didn't change mem clocks at all with driver level clocking.
Edit: Low level method crashed.
Spacehead actually RT is enough but ATT+driver level mode gives no black screen stucks for my asus 1950pro and by this way i finally understand mem clock step 6.75MHz rule. for now i using RT too with low-level because now i know my mem steps. i didn't flash bios - no sense for me. 24/7 freq are 621/810. VRM's very warm and i'm think there is no sense do vGPU with air-cooling.
BTW. Are you keeping VPU Recover on?
I think it is good to keep it on , because it tells what actually crashed, software, CPU, or GPU, or GMEM
I did Vgpu mod with 30€ silver conductive lacquer. Gives black screens. VRMs well cooled , hot to touch, but well below 126 C degree limit. Overcurrent protection causes this. Dont know WHY THE :banana::banana::banana::banana: I BOUGHT THIS CARD!

Any of you guys try using the x1950pro specific drivers, they come in the stock disk? Apparently these drivers have been yielding slight performance gains over cat 6.12 drivers, and w/cat 6.12's my memory was downclocked from sapphire ultimate spec of 1600mhz to 1400mhz reference, these drivers fixed that, but I was having artifacting / freezing problems from what im not sure.

These drivers appear to have a different version number (6.14s?) than the standard catalyst ones.
Another question, Ive been having problems getting ATT to allow me to O/C on the driver level, I disable ATI pooler, I set OC limits to 200%, but the only time it allowed me to actually overclock on the driver level was after ATT install when it prompted me to kill ati pooler, I checked to see if I could overclock, I could, I rebooted and now I cant oc anymore.

Ok well today I tried raising the PCI-E bus speed to 105 MHz, and I am able to overclock my core higher now. So far I'm at 668 MHz, and I think that I can go higher. Just so you guys know.

I too am a x1950 pro owner and am interested to see what results people are having with these. I'm running it currently at 621 core and and 759 mem in the 6.11 drivers. I have not found a version of ati tool to work properly nor do the new catalyst drivers work for me, after installing the screen started to flicker, and continue to do so until i set the clocks to default. I'm unable to up the pci-e bus as I'm running on a very lame dell and just waiting for the e6320 to come out before I build my next system. Is anyone running the Sapphire version of this card, that is what I have.

What are the highest memory clocks that you guys have reached? The reason that I ask is that mine is stable in artifact scanning, but I'm getting some weird artifacts in games lately with no correlation to GPU temperature.
I can play for 2+ hours with no problems, but it has artifacted like crazy after 10 minutes before. When it did I was monitoring the temps with ATI Tray tools, and it maxed out at 51C, which is why I'm worried that it may be the memory.
I have the HIS which has GREAT cooling on everything, as it is the IceQ3 model.
I turned my OC down to 810 from 823.5, and I have read a review that they had it stable at 839 or so on the memory.
Anyhow, if I'm not getting artifacts in the artifact scanner and my temps are fine, do I have something to be worried about, or could this just be a driver issue that will be solved after the next Catalyst?
When I first set the OC in late November (when I bought the card) I ran the artifact scanner for around an hour, and today I ran the scanner for 40 minutes without any artifacts or scary temps.

in bf2142 i had to lower my gpu core to 641 from 648. mem is still at 823. thats strange how it only artifacts sometimes. how is your pcie speed?
I dropped it back down to 100 MHz when I discovered that it really didn't help my OC that much, but I raised it to 103 MHz to test for stability.
Are you running yours at 100 or OCed?
Last night it didn't happen and I played for a little less than 2 hours.

I changed to Vista 32ult. and got some problems now (PowerColor 1950 pro extr. 256MB, 7.9/7.10 driver only):
With ATI Tool (0.26 patched) I can set/change memory timings and apparently save them to a new profile. But it doesn't load the saved timings in this profile, neither manually nor automatically during profile startup. There's no error or something like this, it just loads/sets wrong timings I've never saved. BUt I can load the saved timings in die timings-window. Below are buttons to load them, these work. Unfortunately the profiles don't.
Are there vista problems or maybe newer driver related ATI Tool issues?
