Woot for Saskatoon, it's been not too bad around here lately though. about a week ago or so we had some nice forty below blizzard lovin', however it was hard to breath when outside, let alone bench.
Hey Sneil, looks like you're off Taylor by the SGI?
that is about 5-6 blocks from where i live :cool:Quote:

I pulled an 8230 in 3D05 with E6400 + X850XT :). Temp was about 0C in my room.

Did a quick Nuclearus test
:D I have no intention to overclock outside this winter. Just wanted to share this nice pic of thermometer. Lowest temp was -37 celsius :slobber: (night)
-25 C

SF3D if i have those teperatures i will made my dream for now.To break the WR for my CPU...but...
Duh, its -26c this morning. Still waiting for my eXpert board. But imo ill catch coldbug faster than my cpu.
Done at the balkony with the temp at -1 around the case, about 8 degrees on the cores idle:

i'm in houston, TX ... so are winter time ambients rarely dip below -1 or -2 ambients; for that benchy ... there was intermittent ice falling.
:)
also, got the second highest score on a certain sciencemark benchmark contest over at techpowerup! forums ... smoked more than a few 6600's along the way; love my 6400!

can't wait till next winter!
What i'm wondering - would proper phase change work at subzero temps?
failing that, it's time to get a nice BIG old slab of metal!
Edit: and a quick tip for ease of sub-zero benching - keep your chunk of metal heatsink in the freezer until the day of reckoning, that way it's kept cold, rather than having to cool down!
Here are my results:
ambient ~-9°C
E6400 + Asus Commando + HR-05 @ NB + 2GB GoodRAM PRO

And this is the effect of "coldbug" on Coollaboratory Liquid Pro I think, nothing changed but the liquid metal had frozed if I'm thinking correct

it was only -10 outside at the end of February :(, and around 0*C inside, under this open window :D.
First of all I must say WHAT A THREAD!!!!
You don't see these pics and setup anywhere else in the world. I am so glad I am a member of this forum.
That being said, I live in Phoenix Arizona, and it averages 40C to 45C here during summer. I will not even try benching my system outside...
Hey heres an idea put electrical tape on all the sharp points and just dunk the whole system into ln2. whow am i dum or what heh hoho haha where am i?
OOps after u seal in the plastic vegamatic.Only bout 30000 total give it a shot.U know the sandwich meal sealer thingy<:) .whole thing vid card and all post back soon.
IE.vacume + 0=condesation+0=???wth im n outer space again.Anyway sandwich sealer + one tub of ln2,or spase dust. on my shopping list
I like the HDD mount ))
just looking for the thread that talks about where are units arre that reggie is suposed to be fixxing? hope im in the right spot im going on 2 yreas!! If im in the wrong thread im sorry im just trying to get my unit back before its not worth a squirt of pizz. going om two years one begins to get a little scared
p.s thx for the help njkid im sure you did your best in trying to help me resolve this. i gues once the 700 bucks was gone you were outa the situation :)
thx perc.
looking at some of these pictures makes me feel very cold....buurgh!! im now looking forward to the coming winter :)
same here. Hopefully we will have a somewhat cold winter here in las vegas
ive seen it get down in the teens..even 35f would be plenty to gain a bit extra
Had mine outside tonight in the uber 3c thats just hit us. Got 4.12Ghz stock cooler. Defo doesn't like Cellshock or Balstix currrently and that was with the 0505 bios on the ASUS MF SE. I was half way through Super PI XS 1.50 MOD and it crashed!

Ah well
You should try a Tuniq or something:D,very good with "stockcooler"
Does bringing my watercooling setup outside in subzero temps count ???
Same concept :)
im planning on doing it soon
i love that thread
i can't remember last time i've seen snow :(
winter OC RULES!
:fact:
i can't wait for it to get cold around here so i can go in the garage and so some subzero benching
awesome its starting to get cold over here.. next weekend might be a time to take my rig out side and do some benching .. :D
Here in the Dolomites not sub zero temps till now:(
But in the next week probably the temps will go down of 5-6°C:D
This is with water and inside my room with door open, soon I'll try an outside run with my Scythe:D
http://www.pctuner.info/up/results/_...eenShot019.jpg
Right now with my dual core processor im only running at at ambient air temp 10-20 with a vindicator
makes me wonder if i will be able to pass 2.9 on my rig or if my mobo is just gay
should be getting cold here soon so il give it a shot on my 9700
I just moved to an elevation of 1700ft above sea level, and currently its about 35f outside............wonder if I should try open air ocing hehehe.............
hmmmm..........its supposed to snow this weekend, and @ night it drops into the high 20s.
last night I took my Dell Latitude outside, and let it sit for about 30 minutes, got down to 9c, @ load with WCG running, got to 24C, ambient room temp right now is bout 70f, shows 44c on my cpu for the laptop. I don't have my tower up and running yet, or I would have sat that outside last night.............
Lets see sum more pics.:D Will post mines next month.:)

Blue is my 8800GTX Diode temp
Green is NB/SB on My Maximus Formula
Black is ofcourse my CPU cores ;)
I have to wait as well for the temps to drop further, but hopeflly not much longer.
That's a topic I wait the whole year for to be revived again!
Some nice stuff and some major ghetto mod!
hi everybody...this is my first post...but not my first OC:D I love ari cooling at low temperature.... this is my last winter OC of d945 on my balcony at 2°....very very beatiful sensation...this is the rig

Looking at weatherchannel.com it looks like we should have some good results v.2007 coming soon :D
I love this time of year also. Great Getto window rigs are born yet again.
Temperatures are going to to falling into low 30's high 20's this winter in the bay area:eek: :D
For super SUBZERO I'm use — http://forums.topmods.net/viewtopic.php?t=1664
of course nothing of "superb" or "extreme", i just wanted to share it.
Although it was pretty warm outside (+8 when i did benching) today, i decided finally to put the rig near the open window and to look for what good it will give me.
Boxed cooler managed to maintain my presscot's hot behavior very well :o

http://keep4u.ru/imgs/b/071211/58/58...5962a7ff64.jpg
it wasn't the limit, i reached even 200 fsb(4600), but it BSODed then in a few secs. 1M could be run on up to 4450+ mhz.
Voltage is set to 1.7, mobo's maximum. If sensors on it are correct, it's actually 1.62v or about that... i should do a Vdroop at last.
Ain't too bad for a boxed cooler coupled with one of the hottest intel's cores ever made, isn't it? :)
where? in the center of the photo? it's a BMW i guessQuote:
WTF! LADA???
damn thats serious stuff there.. dont you worry about condensation messing up your hardware or its too cold on top to even worry about that?
ps i dit a couple of runs with my opty last week at around -20celsius and the temps wont go bellow 18c under load.. crappy heatsinkfan + the fact that the heatpipe dont work properly under cold..
i guess that this box was made to keep all temperatures of components located within it far below zero. For to condensation not to be a problem at all :)Quote:
amn thats serious stuff there.. dont you worry about condensation messing up your hardware or its too cold on top to even worry about that?
Here it goes some subzero aircooling bench :) (about -4ºC):
http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/3172/93532715ku3.jpg
http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/2753/83487394kl9.jpg
(bios didn't read under 30ºC I don't know why. Actually it was 12ºC using core temp at 4Ghz 1.26V and mobo temp was 3ºC).
I haven't done a sub-zero aircooling bench in a long time :) Maybe I'll try it again this year.
Dear Members,
Can you expane what is ''super SUBZERO Aircooling''....
what is differt with general AIR Cooling?
when system is OUT-OFF-CASE? am i right?
The thread is mainly about overclocking in environments where ambient temp is below 0C.
Was about -10C here yesterday but I don't dare to try or I'm too lazy (+ my balcony is so :banana::banana::banana:ing small it's just a pain in the ass).
Well today it was like -12c in N. VA. here are some pics and my 3dmark06 benchmark...

I hate the cold, so I used and air purifier and just put it outside my window with the drier vent inside, comp stayed nice and cold, and really didnt get very cold in my room. Nice alternative to water cooling for the time being, but you sure cant beat the looks of a nice setup...Hopefully coming soon!
Nice work from Krampak and v1pwred .. :toast:
Regards
Andy
Got a little bored the other night so I cracked open a window. Nothing special, sorry about the coretemp frequency, I forgot to hit refresh.
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/8874/temp1lx6.jpg
Hmm there was a fortnight here with really low temps about a month ago (about -15c average, went to -27c once at night though..) but I guess it was too cold for me :o) Last year the temperature didn't go below 10c, now -30c... nice ^^ Screw the global warming ^^
damn its like never sub zero in Australia, maybe once or twice during winter at 3am in the morning. Gotta wait 4-5momths till winter
Nice work v1pwred!
Well, I've been reading these forums for a long time but heres my first post.
Here's my q6600 4.0@1.69v on 680i LT SLI board with 680i p30 BIOS (for more volts) ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme.
Kevin
Wow, your feeding that Q6600 a lot of volts to get that 4.0 lol
OK
I was dailying my Q6600 at 4.0 1.75 set for a few months now. and that was on a water setup idling 60C loading 85C, and that was a huge insane loop not any sort of CPU optimized isolated loop with a big heat dump from nearly every component (CPU, 2 G80s, NB, SB, 2 HDD). it was overnight prime95 stable
I'd expect way more than 4.0ghz for -120C cooling
Do you phase daily or something? If so id run at least 4.5 or so it can take it
Not true -120 C
ThermalRight Ultra Extreme heatsink with a 120mm Fan. The processor temp is actually about 35C under load.
I notice your using the XFX p31 BIOS, do you find its better? If so why?
Right now I'm use the EVGA p30 BIOS and it doesnt seem as stable as my old BIOS, but gives me more volts for a run like that.
Edit: The XFX p31 BIOS has FSB holes in bad places for me. I see you're clocked @ 3.6, and that was the highest I could go on the XFX BIOS unless I jumped right up to 4.0, The eVGA BIOS let me tweak it in that area but was garbage for any mhz at all over 4.

This is with the ambient temps around 25c.
Here's a shot of my freeze box...

That shot is 3 years old lol. I have a hannsG 22 wide currently and an NEC 2nd crt
I have been looking into buying a widescreen crt actually, but their really expensive

It's still cold enough here in Maine to reap the benefits of some very nice fresh air. I'll try and post numbers tomorrow night. Simple setup, 6" flex duct and the 6x12 universal flange, 2-12cm side fans draw in lots of air. I may add a 6" duct fan to push later.
Cool :D
when i first moved here this E2200 clocked at 3000MHz with 1.392v was at 9c and 10c on each core....now it has gotten hotter however but it was at the aforementioned temperatures for a good five hours - the 120mm fan on the ninja was facing and very close to a pretty cold wall and sucked very cold air in from it.

In Portugal it´s impossible to get temps. near -5º in Winter, but at 0ºit´s(Common temp. in WInter) possible to get pretty clocks :) (Or NoT)
i'll be doing some crazy aircooling this weekend with some older hardware, but it sure as hell wont be subzero cause its 90+ F out
ok wait untill januari
i'll be overclocking in the winter here in sweden -15c :) :D
Almost subzero temps here in Ontario, Canada
1.5°C is the lowest temperature my indoor/outdoor thermometer has registered so far. :D
It will soon be time to drag the box out into the garage and see what she will do with some cold air.
YES winter is here and i get to benefit from living in New England for ONCE!!
But on another note, i just started using the supercold HFCs in compressed air cans for occasional spot-cooling while benching, and it seems to work great. Anyone done this slash know any potential problems with this? I spray it all over vreg circuits and heatpipes and whatnot.
It's just about that time of year again...
I'd like to see a pic of someone benching outside in some parking lot in Norway or something... with a thermometer @ -40C
:D
Here in Boston, my room was basically a side thought of the contractor, and is surrounded on three sides by windows. It should make for some nice benching once i get my i7 setup.
I can't wait for -45/-50 in January. I live in winnipeg (aka Winterpeg:D, if you live in canada), should prove for some interesting results when I toss my RAD outside and crank up the volts on my i7.
James
This is my air OC :). Going to buy some delta fans and one more TRUE and go for the WR :).
Some one might see that the hold down for the cooler come from one of kingpins LN2 pots :).
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/SSL11613.jpg
At what point do you guys worry about condensation? I realize that things work differently when you introduce cold to a cold environment, but I was under the assumption you still has risk of condensation.
If all is cool, I might just throw one of my rigs in my window well of the basement :D
I've never had any condensation what so ever, so long as the box I use stays closed.
If its open and the aimb air temp goes up then the waterblock gets a little moist.
I usually shut the whole thing down and let it sit for a while before opening. Then when starting up from a warm state I run the water pump and fans until the inside of the box and water temps are the same and at their coolest.
Been running like this with various mobos/setups for a few years now. Never had a issue. "other than cleaning and replacing the intake filters once and a while" ;)
